Chapter 154: A mother’s sacrifice
AN: I took a break to reset. I will try to get back on schedule. Happy reading!!
When that handsome face scoffed, it gave the people standing by chills. Princeton’s very presence froze the entire hangar in place. No one dared to breathe deeply, lest their lungs be frozen by the chill.
"Where is he?" he asked, his voice strained and the smile on his face stiff. The commander gestured for him to follow. Princeton’s smile vanished, the aura around him murderous. He kicked Kai Jing forward while issuing an order. "Move."
Kai Jing stumbled forward as he yelped in pain. Never in this life did he imagine that he would be in this current state. With all his abilities and the power to change the future, it was a disgrace. He was kicked like a dog on the street and beaten up till he was black and blue.
He gritted his blood-stained teeth. If he survived this, he vowed to kill them all. He vowed to tear them to shreds. All he wanted to do was survive. He wanted to find a way after seeing his demise over and over again. Was it so wrong to want to change his future? He had this gift from the heavens, but why? Why couldn’t he change his fate?
A door slid open, and he was thrown to the ground. He rolled two or three times before stopping in front of a pair of boots. His heart dropped as if he had figured out whose presence he was in.
He had plotted for decades, manipulating everyone and everything around Li Jun, but he had never set his eyes on him. He was so, so close, in fact, that he could kill him right now. He was trembling in fear, but the murderous look in his eyes was hard to conceal.
Li Jun looked down at the man kneeling at his feet, the tip of his tongue licking his canine tooth. His expression was that of a predator with its prey in its grasp. His lips curled in a malicious smile before a sharp coldness flashed in his dazzling eyes. The smile on his face fell, and he kicked the man’s shoulder with such great force that it snapped his collarbone. Kai Jing slammed into the wall with a cry of anguish.
A stray strand of hair plastered to his forehead, Li Jun walked over, each step more intimidating than the last. He looked murderous, with bloodlust in his eyes. Draco wanted to tell his nephew to leave this filth to him, but he couldn’t ignore Princeton’s piercing gaze. Those striking eyes would cut through his flesh if they could.
He had his men protect Li Jun in case this evil bastard tried to do something. He then turned to Princeton and said, "Let’s talk."
Li Jun, who had his focus on Kai Jing, suddenly snapped out of it. Knowing how weak his uncle was, he had to warn him not to be soft-hearted. He slid his hand in his pocket while saying, "Uncle, don’t forget what we talked about." A smile crept up his face, and he waved at Princeton.
Princeton bowed and said, "Your Highness," his expression softer than before. It was completely unlike the fierce expression he had just now. "It’s good to see you again."
Li Jun smiled happily at this future aunt and said, "Likewise. You look stunning as always. By the way, thank you for bringing this piece of shit to me. You have worked hard."
"I only did as I should. If you want me to cut his limbs, I will do it," replied Princeton before glancing at Draco’s crotch, his gaze lingering there before trailing up to meet his eyes, his gaze fierce. "I can make it slow and very painful."
Draco’s third leg shriveled up right into his body as though afraid to be chopped off. Li Jun, who had no idea that his uncle had just been threatened, said, "No need. I will cut them off myself. It will be much more fun that way." He glanced at Kai Jing, his jaw clenched.
Draco swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing. He cleared his throat and said, "Let’s go," before walking past Princeton, but Princeton didn’t follow him out. His steps paused, and with a silent sigh, he walked back and grabbed the man’s hand.
At the slightest pull, Princeton refused to budge. It took Draco tugging at him twice for him to move. The door slid shut behind them, and the man who had been trembling at the wall with an ashen face shook even more. To him, Princeton was just an obedient dog and Draco a meathead. The one he should fear the most is this man right here. The darling of heaven, who at this rate seemed untouchable.
Li Jun rolled up his sleeves to his elbows while saying, "You must know why I brought you here, right?... I get why most people want to see my head on a platter. Some think I am annoying, pompous... some say arrogant, but your determination baffles me."
He pulled up the floating screen and said, "Kai Jing," the words drawled deliberately. He scoffed and said, "It’s truly a lovely name. Who named you... your mother?"
Kai Jing glared at Li Jun, his gaze fierce. Li Jun scoffed. It seemed his mother was a sore spot, and with good reason. She chose to be a citizen of Aurelia and worked hard to make sure her child was born a citizen as well. But instead of being grateful to his mother for the sacrifices she made, he chose to renounce it and run back to Helion to his father.
They say some children resent the parents that stayed and fantasize about the ones that abandoned them. He smirked before saying, "What, you resent her for leaving your father?"
Kai Jing had tried his best to hide his past, but even he knew that for someone like Li Jun, it would be easy to find out. He tried to hide his anger and resentment towards that woman, but he couldn’t help himself. His emotions came gushing out like a spring.
"I am not that traitor’s son. I have no mother," he said through gritted teeth. He had removed any relation they had. He had long severed ties with her, and they had nothing to do with each other.
