The Mad King's Heir
Chapter 151: Marriage proposal
Li Jun thought it would be Princeton coming to get him, but Princeton was busy capturing a fake seer or whatever the fuck he called himself. In his place, it was Damian who came. He was so excited to see his nephew, but what was his nephew doing?
He was locking lips underneath a jacket in front of all his subordinates and in broad daylight. He looked at Yan Jia as though saying, "You let them do this in public?"
Yan Jia shrugged her shoulders as though saying, "What did you want me to do? They are adults."
Damian walked over and yanked the jacket off of them. When he met Yu Wen’s gaze, he glared at him fiercely like a mama bear protecting his cub. His lips twitched in rage, his jaw clenched to the point of snapping.
Yu Wen, instead of keeping a low profile and not angering Damian, poked the hive instead. He smiled and called out, "Uncle," while wiping the corner of his lips.
"Un-uncle? Who is your uncle?" he stammered. Damian couldn’t even speak well in rage.
Li Jun took a step away. He was just trying to ease the tension, but Yu Wen stubbornly pulled him back and said to Damian with a smile so sincere it was unsettling, "Oh sorry, Its uncle in law."
Damian gritted his teeth while looking at that arm wrapped around Li Jun possessively as though proclaiming to the world that Li Jun belonged to him. He thought he wouldn’t be mad about this, but after seeing them lock lips and be all lovey-dovey, he was as mad as his father. This Yu Wen shamelessly tormented Li Jun all these years, yet he had the gall to do such a thing in front of him.
"Li Jun, let’s go," he said before grabbing Li Jun’s arm.
Li Jun said, "Uncle Ian, wait, I will follow you. Let me just say goodbye."
Damian didn’t mince words. He said, "Goodbye? Goodbye? Haven’t you said goodbye enough? Look at your lips." He stopped talking when he realized he was too loud. He gritted his teeth before whispering, "They are already swollen."
"Uncle-in-law. I am the one who suffered the most. Not only my lips, but he bit me too, look." Yu Wen showed his bitten neck. Instead of being sad, it sounded more like whining with pride. It was as though he was showing off his battle scars. "Shouldn’t he be taking responsibility?"
Damian was going to let him off, but now... now he was really angry. He clicked his tongue in annoyance before lunging at Yu Wen. Yu Wen didn’t dodge. He just stood there waiting for the beating. He was doing it on purpose. It was to sell misery to his sweetheart.
Li Jun didn’t want his future husband and uncle tearing each other to pieces. He blocked Damian’s path, his arms stretched out. Damian tried to bypass him, but when he took a step to the right, Li Jun would take a step as well. The same thing when he took a step to the left.
Damian sighed in exasperation. He wanted to beat the living daylights out of Yu Wen, but Li Jun wouldn’t let that happen. With no where else to vent his rage, he could only kick a poor rock that happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Yu Wen tilted his head with a stifled smile, watching Damian storm off while kicking rocks like a toddler throwing a tantrum. It was so rare to see Damian unable to express his anger.
Li Jun suddenly turned to look at him, and Yu Wen straightened up really fast, the smile on his face vanishing instantly. He replaced it with a sad look on his face like he had been bullied.
Li Jun didn’t buy it, though. He said, "You should stop picking fights with him. You still need their blessing in the future." He thought Yu Wen would complain, but the man smiled instead. That smile was so bright it could light up the night sky. His brows creased in confusion. What was Yu Wen so happy about?
"Is this a marriage proposal?" Yu Wen asked.
"Wha-...when did I say that?" Li Jun couldn’t believe how shameless this man was.
Yu Wen wasn’t at all fazed by his attitude. He eagerly made his case, saying, "You said I will need their blessing in the future. Blessings for what? For marriage, of course. So... baby, are you proposing to me?"
Ten minutes later, Yu Wen was rubbing his throbbing forehead after being flicked hard by Li Jun. It was a little red and painful. "He can be so heartless," mumbled Yu Wen as they drove towards the camp. He was complaining, but the smile on his face spoke volumes.
Meanwhile, General Vane had sent people to apprehend Zi Rui, but when his men reached his quarters, the tent was empty. It was as though it hadn’t been occupied before. His men rushed back to report.
General Vane realized then that Yu Wen never intended to let them take Zi Rui. He finally understood why the Imperial Queen instructed him to do things silently. He thought it would be disrespectful if he just arrested one of Yu Wen’s men without letting him know first.
Even if Yu Wen didn’t want to, he wouldn’t risk committing treason for a mere civilian, right? That’s what he thought, but it turns out he was wrong. Yu Wen was willing to lose everything for him.
"Sir, what are we going to do?" asked one of his commanders.
"What else can we do but report it?" He replied and braced himself to make the call. Xiu Ying answered the call.
She had her head lowered, typing something. She was waiting for him to speak, but the man didn’t say a word. She wanted to yell at him, but she was forced to restrain herself. She didn’t have many allies left and needed to keep the ones still by her side happy.
"I take it you have sent him with your most trusted aides," she said as she looked up.
"Yo-your majesty," he stammered, his voice trembling. He regretted it. He should have done as told. Now he was paying the price for it.
