The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1707: Impossible Trial (2)

Chapter 1707: Impossible Trial (2)

Rex went all-out.

Since this was the last trial, there’s no reason for him to spare his strength.

Especially when going against something celestial like this.

It was his very first time exerting his power to this extent in the Spirit Realm.

Inside, every molecule that made up his entire being was brimming with violent energy that elevated his power to the next level. He felt full inside—the rampaging energy heeded his will exactly, but the power it brought was overloading him.

But Rex knew that this wasn’t nearly enough.

Out of the three Soul Artifacts he has, two were activated to their fullest potential.

His claws were covered by the Red Dawn of Kaiser, and the Aegis of Moon Sentinel was hovering on his back in the form of a golden halo. Across his form, a golden exoskeleton draped over like a second skin, and above, his curving horns hummed with destructive power.

Above, the Law of Misdirection was trembling as the blood sphere descended like a massive meteor.

Rex was aiming to lower its force as much as possible before impact.

Regardless of that, he knew this wasn’t enough.

But he has more tricks up his sleeve.

Anyone who witnessed this scene was certain that anyone in Rex’s shoes would not survive the trial.

Even a Divine Spirit or a True Divine Spirit would not be strong enough to survive the blood sphere.

And Rex was only a measly Master Immortal Spirit.

But that was where they were wrong.

It wasn’t the trial’s purpose to kill the one who dared challenge it.

Instead, its purpose was to test—whether the candidate is worthy enough to create a powerful Original Echo and use it. Thus, whoever was on the other end of the trial, the difficulty would remain impossibly hard, giving the candidate the same exact chance of going through it.

Naturally, the determining factor was the candidate’s abilities and determination.

Neither Rex lacked.

More… I need more power!

Rex’s expression contorted into one of seriousness as he lowered his stance.

One foot in front—and the other behind him, while his hands moved almost like he was embracing the ground underneath him. Slowly, an unnatural shift in the air happened as the voidal energy in the shape of an ink-black energy swirled around him.

<The Sable Physique acquisition: 60,7% / 100%>

Earlier, before the trial started, Rex managed to absorb 65,7% of the Matter of Monarch item.

It grants him access to the Sable Physique, which metamorphosized his body to that of a Monarch.

A Voidal Monarch to be exact.

Since he hadn’t absorbed all of the Matter of Monarch item as the pace of absorption became extremely slow after breaking through the 60% mark, he hadn’t metamorphosized properly, but it was enough for him to also control voidal energy.

Swoosh…

Around him, the voidal energy manifested and swirled.

It clashed with the life energy inside of him, creating violent sparks that harmed his body.

But Rex endured this temporary pain and forced the two energies to a temporary ceasefire.

His training in controlling the life energy and also his experience of controlling the violent nature of kingly energy in the Mortal Realm came to play. Compared to the normal—his energy-control was at a monstrous level, especially added with his high level of pain tolerance that allowed him to keep absolute focus regardless of how painful the process was.

Many would’ve lost focus and control for even attempting to do something like this.

But Rex was in total control over the two energies.

It was painful, straining, but it didn’t have enough kick to prevent Rex from doing what he wanted.

Rex gritted his teeth as he had no time, and the two energies were resisting each other.

Not playing nice? Then I’ll force you to play nice!

As opposed to forcing the two energies to a temporary ceasefire outside of his body, Rex made a gamble in order to hasten the process. He flared his Spiritual Veins and sucked both energies into him—aiming to force the two energies to submit in a place where his control was at his best.

Inside his body.

Risky? Very. One wrong move and the backlash would be devastating.

But Rex knew there was a reason why no spirits alive could go through this trial.

Sticking to the safe bet would not get him anywhere.

It would even be a dumb move when Rex has the means to try something nobody ever tried before.

Blitz!

“Rrghh…!”

Rex grunted in pain—as the moment the two energies entered his body, a chain of reaction followed as he coughed a mouthful of blood. His insides felt like they were being crushed from the pressure, and he would soon explode.

Bulging veins appeared across his neck as he tried to control the two energies with all his might.

And at that moment, he realized he had been underestimating what he was attempting to do.

Merging them is impossible! I… I should keep them at a fixed length while still allowing me to use their powers.

But how and where?!

Rex gritted his teeth and looked skyward, noticing the blood sphere was about to hit the barrier—from the Law of Misdirection. Once it passed through the barrier, there was nothing left standing between it and him.

He has to move quicker.

Just then, his eyes sparkled at a thought.

“RRGGHH!”

Summoning every ounce of his inner strength, Rex guided the two rampaging energies up to his chest and then to his head. His head felt like it was about to split in half, but he quickly siphoned each energy to his curving horns.

Boom!

A mild pulse exploded from the curving horns, which freed the tension from Rex’s body instantly.

One horn hummed with a dark hue, while the other had a crimson hue.

Rex couldn’t see what was going on with his horns, but he could feel the two energies locked onto each one. And more than that, the horns kept them separated enough not to create the violent chain reaction, while still allowing Rex to draw power from them.

As the power settled, a sensational surge coursed through his Spiritual Veins.

<Notice: the power of the Black Rift and life has now empowered the user!>

<All stats have been increased significantly!>

Upon settling this new power within him, Rex could feel an attachment to the Black Rift.

It was as if he were a part of the Black Rift.

Now, he probably doesn’t need Kraken to survive in the Black Rift anymore.

His body naturally absorbed voidal energy as it absorbed life energy, and the feeling was invigorating.

Boom!

Rumble!

Rex looked skyward with his spine straight—like an arrow, staring at the blood sphere that had finally made contact with the Law of Misdirection barrier. Through his very eyes—he could see that the power contained within the blood sphere was spread everywhere as it passed through the barrier.

It grows weaker as Rex intended.

A gush of energy pressed down, and the ground around him collapsed.

Anyone would feel their legs going limp at the pressure, but his body was entirely different.

His skin and muscles rippled as the Lone Alpha skill tugged on his consciousness, begging him to let it run wild. Rex cracked a smile—as this was the time he let loose of his newly acquired skill, “Let’s see how strong this skill really is…”

Upon saying that, Rex let go of the passive skill that he had been holding back.

<Notice: the user is adapting to the Celestial Energy!>

Seeing the notification, Rex smirked.

Holding back the passive skill earlier turns out to be the right thing to do, as the last trial didn’t use the worldly energy as the previous trials did. Instead, it used Celestial Energy, which should be the energy used by Gods—by the Lunirich Gods.

Even though it was pressing down on him, he couldn’t see or sense the celestial energy.

All he could sense was a violent wind pressing down from above.

It seemed he still had no qualities to sense celestial energy.

Fortunately, it doesn’t deny its presence, so his Lone Alpha passive skill could adapt to it.

Swish…

Rex could feel his fur was swaying and his body transforming.

Slowly but surely, the pressure—on his shoulders lessened, but as the blood sphere went through the barrier, a frown crept to Rex’s face. Even with all the things he did, his instincts were telling him that he had no chance against it.

Still not enough? How much stronger…?

Rex clenched his fists and his jaw hard, staring at the descending blood sphere that dwarfed him.

He had used everything.

Even now, his body was flaring with an insurmountable amount of energy, but his instincts were still telling him that it was not enough. I still have to hunt down Haxel. I still have to save Devo. I still have to rescue Edward. And I still have matters back in the Mortal Realm!

Rex lowered his stance, preparing to jump as he charged his right claws with the Inevitable Death.

Muscles bulged in his legs.

His aura grew more rampant and destructive, shattering the surroundings like crimson lightning.

Following that, his claws, that was charged with the Inevitable Death, glowed brighter as Rex infused the Law of Inevitability. In the previous trials, he let them torture him and test him. But this time, he wasn’t going to let it flow the same.

A Werewolf is a hostile creature.

And for that, he was going to be the one who made the attack.

BOOM!

Princess Davina glanced over her shoulder when she sensed another powerful aura aside from the blood sphere that appeared out of nowhere. Her pupils dilated at the sight of a crimson and black streak climbing up to the sky like an ascending star.

It was Rex.

And even against such a phenomenon, he looked as fierce as ever.

Others would be preparing as much as possible and bracing themselves against the blood sphere.

But Rex chose to be the one attacking instead.

“You can do it…”

Princess Davina watched as Rex charged his right claws as he headed straight at the blood sphere.

“If anyone can pass this trial, it’s you…”

Like a blazing comet, Rex’s aura grew more intense and brighter as he neared the blood sphere.

And as he reached the blood sphere, he swung his claws with all his might.

“Spirit Genesis: Inevitable Death!!!”

Rex’s claws gleamed like molten blades as he poured every last shred of power, rage, and desperation into them. His red burning emotions surged through his veins, igniting his aura into a storm of scarlet and black steam.

Then, with a primal roar that split the heavens, he slammed his claws into the descending blood sphere.

KABOOM!

Upon colliding, an earth-shattering explosion was born.

A blinding flash tore through the vast sky, and an expanding ripple of shockwave surged outward.

It scattered clouds and ripped apart the air like it was nothing.

For a fleeting moment, the force from it seemed to bend the world, twisting the light and trembling the ground far below. In a heartbeat, Rex’s all-out strike halted the sphere’s descent. The blood sphere was quivering violently under the pressure of his will, but then, its monstrous momentum continued.

It met his fury with equal savagery, treating his everything like it was nothing.

“Hrrghkk!”

Rex stared at his claws as they screeched against the blood sphere’s surface.

Sparks of energy flared like dying stars until the cracks began to appear.

At that moment, Rex watched with widened eyes as fractures spread along his claws despite the power coursing through him. He grinds his teeth—as the pain roared through his body, but he refused to yield to it—not when everything is on the line.

Rex activated the Dark Auctoritas Echo, feeding his wrath with more power.

It temporarily boosts his regeneration, allowing his claws and torn flesh to heal.

Simultaneously, his Spellcaster Echo flared, reinforcing the Red Dawn of Kaiser.

Yet even then, it wasn’t enough.

Blood splattered onto his face as his skin split open and sprayed crimson everywhere—the shockwave pushed him backward through the sky as the blood sphere continued its merciless descent toward the world below.

Get lost, Kaiser!

Rex’s eyes bulged with madness.

I’ve beaten you once, so I can beat you to second time! You’ll always lose to me!

Boom!
