Chapter 163: Chapter 163 The Alpha fight 1

Talia’s POV

(Readers discretion are advised)

The two Alphas crashed together in the center of the courtyard.

I watched them collide, with a blur of dark fur and flashing teeth, and i felt the ground shake beneath my feet.

The force of their impact sent a shockwave through the courtyard, and dust rose around them, clouding my vision. I blinked, trying to see through the haze, with my heart that was pounding so hard, that I thought it might burst.

The sound of their bodies hitting the ground echoed across the battlefield, as more dust and blood flew into the air.

Viktor was the first to recover, even though the impact had stunned both of them. I saw Kaelen shake his head, like he was trying to clear the fog, but Viktor was already moving, and already attacking again.

He did not give Kaelen time to breathe.

He attacked with everything he had, with his claws swinging wildly, and his teeth snapping sharply. There was no mercy in his strikes, and no hesitation, like he wanted to crush Kaelen before Kaelen could even think of fighting back. It was brutal, savage, and relentless, like he wanted to end this fast.

He lunged at Kaelen, with his massive jaws snapping. Kaelen rolled to the side just in time, and Viktor’s teeth closed on empty air.

I let out a breath I did not know I was holding.

If Viktor had caught him, it would have been over, because his jaws were powerful enough to crush bone. But Kaelen was too fast, and too sharp, and he had survived the deadly attack.

Kaelen scrambled to his feet and lunged back, with his claws raking across Viktor’s shoulder.

I saw the fur tear and the skin split. Blood welled up from the wound, dark and thick. Viktor flinched, and for just a moment, I thought Kaelen had the upper hand.

The rogue Alpha howled in pain, and the sound was satisfying to my ears, but it did not stop him. Viktor was too filled with rage to feel pain, because he wanted blood. He wanted Kaelen’s blood, and he would not stop until he had it.

Blood sprayed from the wound, dark and thick. But the rogue Alpha recovered quickly, too quickly.

Viktor snarled and swung his massive paw, which had claws that were like blades. His rage was a living thing, burning in his eyes, and fueling his attacks. He was not just fighting to win. He was fighting to destroy. Every swing was meant to kill, and every snarl was a promise of death. I felt the cold terror of it settle deep in my bones.

I could see the way Viktor’s claws sliced through the air, sharp and deadly. One hit could end the fight, and one hit could kill Kaelen.

I was sure that Kaelen knew it too, because he moved with everything he had, dodging and weaving through every swing.

I watched his body twist and turn, avoiding death by inches. He was graceful, almost like a dancer, but there was desperation in his movements too. He knew he could not take another hit like the first one, and he knew his body was already failing.

Kaelen dodged, but Viktor’s claws finally caught his side.

Time seemed to slow in that moment. I saw the claws sink in, and I saw Kaelen’s body jerk with the impact. The sound of the tear was sickening, like cloth ripping, but this was worse. So much worse in fact.

The gash was red and raw, as blood dripped from the wound, soaking his dark fur.

I could smell it from where I stood.

The metallic scent filled my nose, and it was overwhelming, thick, and choking, and I felt sick. I wanted to turn away, and I wanted to close my eyes, but I could not. I had to watch, and I had to be there for him, even if I could not fight beside him.

But Kaelen did not stop, and he did not even slow down.

Kaelen stumbled but did not fall.

He was faster, he was quicker, and he landed hit after hit on Viktor’s massive body. Each strike was precise, and each blow was calculated. Kaelen was not just fighting, he was proving a point, he was showing Viktor that he was not afraid, and he was showing the pack that he would not back down.

But Viktor was relentless.

No matter how many times Kaelen struck, and no matter how deep the wounds, Viktor kept coming. His body was a wall of muscle and fury, that it seemed to feel no pain, and he seemed to have no limits. And that terrified me more than anything.

He absorbed the blows that Kaelen landed, and kept coming with rage, and bloodshot eyes.

I watched from the sidelines, with my heart pounding in my throat. Every time Viktor got close, I held my breath, and every time Kaelen landed a hit, I dared to hope.

This was the Alpha fight.

I had heard stories about Alpha fights, and I had read about them in books. But seeing it happen right in front of me was different, with the savagery, the brutality, and the way they fought like their lives depended on it.

Because, of course they did.

The battle of the pack would be decided here, in this moment, and between these two wolves. There was nothing I could do but watch, and nothing I could do but pray.

My hands were clenched into fists at my sides. My nails dug into my palms, and I felt the sting of broken skin.

But I did not feel the pain, i could only feel the fear.

I could barely feel the sting of my nails breaking skin, because my body was numb, and frozen in place. Every part of me wanted to shift, to run, and to tear Viktor apart with my bare hands. But I held myself back, because I had to trust Kaelen, and I had to believe that he could win.

Across the courtyard, I saw the healers, and some warriors moving.

They were carrying the wounded warriors to the healing tents that had been set up near the healers hall.

I saw familiar faces among the wounded.

There was a young wolf that I had spoken to once, and a warrior who had bowed to me after the third trial. Some of them were barely conscious, and some of them were not moving at all, but the healers did not stop.

I could see them as they kept working, kept fighting, and kept trying to save who they could.

Elena, the chief healer, was pointing, and directing them with calm authority. Her face was streaked with sweat as she wiped them from time to time, but her hands were steady.

She moved from one wounded wolf to the next, checking wounds, and giving orders. I watched them carry a warrior past me, and his leg was wrapped in blood-soaked bandages, and his face was pale. But he was alive, and he was still breathing.

I turned back to the fight, then I noticed something was wrong.
