THE GOD EATER

Monarch Money Body lamented, saying, "The fight between us drained both me and the world of too much lifespan. That lifespan would have been useful to me now."

When Loki heard this, he shook his head and said, "Even if you knew that you would need so much lifespan, you would still need to fight and kill all the world guardians, or Oceania would never accept or appreciate you."

Money Body’s shoulders sagged even further when he heard this. He managed to say, "That’s true too. Maybe I could have found a way to convince it. But what does it matter now? It is too too late."

Money Body looked ready to give up, but Loki didn’t want him to give up. So he took out some world essence and threw it at the human dragon.

The will of Oceania quickly caught the world essence and began to use it to replenish itself. It brought the chunks of world essence to the heart of the world and engulfed the chunks.

As it was converting the world essence into lifespan, the will of Oceania was wondering why their enemy was helping them. It was suspicious of Loki’s motives and was confused by his help, but it didn’t stop what it was doing at all.

While the will of Oceania was suspicious, Money Body knew exactly what he was up to. So the human dragon began to laugh.

His laughter rang out loudly with amusement as he said, "I had my suspicions earlier when you gave me the symbols of authority. Now I am certain that you’re helping me so that you can take the fruit of my Dao from me."

He chuckled as he said, "It seems you’re more anxious than I am. If I didn’t know better, I would think you were the one whose life and death depend on the success of my advancement."

Then he shook his head and said, "Unfortunately for you, you won’t have your way. I don’t think you have enough lifespan to help me advance. Even if you did, I would never let you have what I’ve worked for all my life."

"So forget about my Supreme Metac. Instead, focus on making yours. And to repay you for your help so far, I will give you some information that might help you."

At this point, Money Body had taken to sitting on the ground. He was the picture of someone who had given up and accepted their fate.

After he made himself comfortable on the ground, he said, "First of all, the pathway is a dead end. I don’t know if this is the natural state of cultivation or if someone doesn’t want us to advance to rank 9. But I am sure that it is impossible to advance through the pathway."

"Secondly, there is a limit to the level of power that we can reach in a pathway. We must not have five Divine Positions, and our Cave Heavens must not reach 3 billion square kilometers in size."

"This time, I am sure that this limit is artificial. I am sure because many people have advanced beyond this limit in the past. The limit only exists because anyone who reaches it in the present will be killed by the Dao Lord of the pathway."

"Thirdly, the Divine Positions are unreliable. You must not use them, or the Dao Lords will find out and ruin your advancement."

"Fourthly, if you want to have any hope of advancing, you need the help of a Dao Lord. That’s how the Sword Lord was able to advance. He didn’t advance by his own power."

"Lastly, I don’t think the Dao Lords are still present in the universe. I don’t know where they are, but I am sure that they can still exert some amount of strength in the universe through their pathways."

"That is all I have to say. I wish you good luck. If you become a Dao Lord someday, help me give the founder of the Four Directions Sect a beating."

The voice he used to say this last sentence was noticeably weaker than his previous voice. Loki also noticed that the incomplete Supreme Metac was dimming.

The incomplete Supreme Metac was bright like a conflagration just earlier. But just like a fire that had run out of fuel, it was now dying.

Loki didn’t want to see this happen. Unfortunately, he had given Money Body all of the world essence he had in his possession earlier. What he had given Money Body was barely 150,000 years’ worth. So it hadn’t put a dent in the millions of years of lifespan that Money Body needed.

With no way to help Money Body, he thought to himself, ’I guess I will have to rely on myself to finish what he started.’

After he made up his mind about this, he attacked Money Body. He let the Devouring Ability erupt out of his body as a black force field, and he let the force field reach over to Money Body to cover him.

He did this to take the unfinished Supreme Metac from Money Body and complete it himself. He had ways to get millions of years of lifespan, so he was confident in himself.

The will of Oceania was caught off guard by his attack. After all, he had been helping just a while ago. It was jarring to see him attack them so suddenly.

But Money Body wasn’t surprised by the attack. This great cultivator didn’t know what the black force field was, but it didn’t matter to him how Loki attacked him because he had expected the attack.

He even smiled and said, "You have not disappointed me. I used to be a teacher in the initiation program, so your behavior makes me proud."

"You have done exactly what needs to be done in order to become a great cultivator. You are ready to make everyone become kindling for you so that you can shine. Unfortunately, I am unwilling to become kindling for someone else."
