THE GOD EATER
Chapter 1380 Taking The Bait.
His voice was full of confidence as he said, "Since he couldn’t force the Wills to do what he wants with brute force, I am certain that our plan with Thief Haven and the follow-up attack after that will be a success."
"I am even more confident of our victory because he used Grand Daos to secure his Domain. Whether he bought them or made them himself, they must have cost a lot, leaving him poorer and more vulnerable."
Then he bared his teeth and grinned savagely as he said with pride, "Victory is just around the corner. Soon, I shall lay my hands on that Divine Mountain and it shall be mine."
His audience found his blatant boasting uncomfortable. But even though many people disagreed with his claim that he would get the Divine Mountain, they didn’t speak up to argue.
They kept their objections, ideas, and schemes to themselves in favor of waiting for the opportune time. After all, it was in their best interest to make Black Chain think that he would get the Divine Mountain. At the very least, it would motivate him more.
But being forced to listen to his bragging was still unpleasant, so Tepid Scholar hurried to change the subject by asking Wandering Thief, "Anyway, what did he say about us joining his Divine Mountain?"
Wandering Thief chuckled as he said, "He said that we’re allowed."
"If he was insincere, I guess he hopes to kill us when we come to join his Divine Mountain. I am inclined to think so after seeing his clone walking around his Divine Mountain like that."
"But what I’m most afraid of is if he was sincere with his offer, as that would mean he will gain greatly if we join his Divine Court and isn’t afraid of losing his position to any of us. This is another reason why I believe we shouldn’t target his Divine Mountain at all."
"We’ve already seen that once he loses his position, he can go to desperate ends to get it back, including destroying super worlds. Even if the likelihood of that happening now is lower since he gained his Domain with Grand Supreme Metacs, it is still an outcome we can’t afford."
"And in the worst-case scenario where he already has a plan for us joining his Divine Court to usurp him, we would be walking into a trap even if we managed to avoid that avatar of his."
"Yes. Yes, I’ve heard you," Black Chain said, exasperated.
"You don’t need to keep harping about it. I already said I won’t try to take over the Divine Mountain. What more do you want from me?"
Before anyone could answer, they heard a spatial barrier tear open. Their attention immediately shifted, and they all looked up at the source of the sound.
When they looked up, they saw a pair of eyes looking down at them from beyond the lower realm. The eyes shifted, examining every inch of the super world.
As the recipient of this gaze, they felt a Divine Spirit sweep through the world and across the divine constellation. It was an uncomfortable feeling that only deepened their dislike for the owner of those eyes.
Even the Will of the World stirred. Its consciousness and power gathered into a single form that appeared above the world, meeting the gaze of the eyes in the sky.
When the eye was done inspecting Thief’s Haven, its owner commented, "Nice world."
"11 Domains in a super world. Doesn’t this make Thief’s Haven the strongest super world in the lower realm? Yet Black Chain forced you to submit."
"He must be very strong. It is no wonder he was able to establish a Domain on every super world," he said nonchalantly.
"Anyway, I believe congratulations are in order. After all, it is not easy to overthrow the Blessed Heaven World as the strongest super world, especially since you did it in less than two days after you became a super world."
"Thank you for the high praise," the Will of the World said. "But I couldn’t have done it alone, so I’m not sure I deserve it."
"I think you deserve it. And even if I don’t think so, it isn’t like there is anything I can do about it," he said, chuckling.
But the Will of the World didn’t find his comment funny and stared at Loki expressionlessly, making the atmosphere awkward.
"Anyway, it is truly a grand assembly what you have here. One more Domain will fit right in. Don’t you think so?" he asked meaningfully.
"What do you mean?" the Will of the World also asked, feigning ignorance.
Hearing this, Loki chuckled inwardly and thought, ’I guess this is how you want to play it. You want to play hard to get.’
They asked him to come, and he came. He thought that would be enough to show why he came. But apparently not.
So he hinted at his purpose, yet the Will of the World wanted him to spell it out. All of this made him believe they wanted him to cherish this opportunity by begging for it.
He found it bothersome, but he still went along with it, saying, "I mean, I want to establish a Domain here."
"Are you going to force me?" the Will asked, frowning.
"I don’t do that. I don’t force worlds to accept me," Loki said, chuckling with mirth.
"I like it when worlds yearn for me. I thought that’s what was going on here when Wandering Thief invited me to establish a Domain. But if I am mistaken, I can leave."
Upon hearing this, the frown on the Will’s face eased off, and it said, "In that case, you’re more than welcome to establish your Domain here. I also like it when Dao Lords are cordial and polite, like you."
Smiling, he said, "Since you’re in agreement, here I come."
As he spoke, the projection of a single Supreme Metac fell from the tear in the sky and slowly descended onto the super world. Then he watched to see what would happen.
