THE GOD EATER
Chapter 1379 Expensive Investment.
"But I know with utmost certainty that he must be taken down as soon as possible if his beneficial goal will make him more difficult to deal with. He is an enemy, and he must be stopped," she said, her eyes stern and sharp like a blade’s edge.
Martial Will snorted and said, "Those are just hypothetical scenarios and made-up reasons why Ragnarok hasn’t reversed time yet."
"I can make stuff up too. It doesn’t make it the truth."
"I just think we’re overthinking this. Instead of making up scary theories and complicating things for ourselves, we should stick to the basics and go over to beat him to death."
Tepid Scholar groaned when he heard Martial Will. Heavenly Eye rolled her eyes while Sword Way chuckled, amused.
Wandering Thief, sighing, said, "You’re stubborn. I will give you that. I will also admit that if we’re wrong, you’re the right person to employ for using brute force."
"And I’m not patronizing you here. I say it with true respect earned from our painful defeat at your hands."
"Unfortunately, Ragnarok is not us. He is a Gemini with two bodies that have to be killed at the same time to kill him permanently, and a powerful race behind him to support him."
"So what worked against us is unlikely to work against him. If that doesn’t convince you, how about this? Being cautious doesn’t cost us anything."
"If you’re right and brute force will work, the best outcome is that we fight him over many timelines until we eventually defeat him. But if you’re wrong, we will lose our information advantage and might never be able to make a targeted plan ever again."
"On the other hand, if we’re wrong, at most we waste a little time. If we’re so cautious that we decide to wait until we can kill every Gemini youngling that Ragnarok can use as a meatshield, at most, we will waste a year."
"Nothing much can happen in a year. Ragnarok just advanced, so it will take him at least a hundred years of preparation to become a two-star celestial. So we have a lot of time to waste."
"In fact, I think it is a good thing that we wasted time because if our attack fails and Ragnarok manages to reverse time, the longer we wait, the more difficult it will be to return to the past where we didn’t have our information advantage."
Chuckling, Carefree Immortal said, "And that’s the consequence of being wrong. If it’s already so good, I wonder what the best outcome of being right is."
"Of course the best outcome is that we take him out with one hit instead of slowly grinding him over many timelines," Wandering Thief said with a smile.
Then he said to Martial Will, "So our best outcome also trumps your best outcome. Do you see which is superior now?"
Even though he was unwilling, Martial Will said, "I’m convinced. Or mostly convinced."
"I still don’t think we should waste time because I am sure you’re wrong about the consequence of waiting a year. From the information you told us about the Gemini and the ones we’ve confirmed ourselves, I remember that the Gemini younglings have worlds that can mature in a year or less."
"If the Gemini younglings have worlds that can become super worlds in a year, then we will have ten thousand super worlds and ten thousand opportunities to expand their Domain Power. So I don’t think those Gemini younglings will be weaker and vulnerable if we wait a year."
"You have a point," Wandering Thief admitted, nodding.
"Based on what you’ve said, the one year of protection should be to give the Gemini younglings time to establish themselves and compete with us, so waiting one year is a bad idea."
"But we don’t have to worry about that because we don’t intend to wait a year. That was the most extreme case I could think of. Now that we know the danger, we can easily avoid it, unlike the danger of you being wrong."
"Anyway, I don’t think we can use brute force on him. The most basic reason I can think of to support this is that Ragnarok has access to bombs capable of destroying super worlds."
"It is a bomb that he can use regardless of his power to decimate our Domain Power. If he is pushed to his limit, as Black Chain once did, he will take everyone down with him. So if we attack him and want to win completely, we must eliminate him in one move."
Martial Will snorted and said, "Maybe you’re right."
"Now that little problem has been handled, how did your meeting with him go?" Black Chain asked.
In response, Wandering Thief sighed and said, "It went about as well as expected. So no, it was average."
"I asked him to establish a Domain here, but he rejected me. I was surprised because my blatant request looked like I was luring him into a trap if he already knew that we were after his life."
"But later, he agreed. So at least we can confirm he is greedy for Domain Power, even when he is suspicious of a trap. So I think our plan can proceed well and should have a great impact on him."
Snorting, Heavenly Eye said, "Of course, he is greedy for Domain Power."
"I knew that when he avoided our instigations and convinced those Wills to let him establish our Domain with a Supreme Metac. What a waste of good Supreme Metacs."
"And Grand Daos too. How absurd."
"Can you believe that? He gave up a Grand Supreme Metac for a Domain? Who does that?" she asked incredulously.
Sword Will replied, "He is either a fool or someone who intends to gain a greater benefit from that investment. I can’t be sure which it is."
"Anyway, regardless of whether he is a fool or a smart investor, I think this proves that he is weak," Black Chain said.
