Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Curious Baby Online, God-Tier Move
Thick, black fog enveloped it, making it impossible to see what kind of creature was inside. Liang He tilted her head up slightly, as if piercing through the fog to lock eyes with it.
"Are you a Fierce Beast too?"
Not only was she unafraid, but she was also a little curious. Mimicking the Mojin King Tiger’s signature head-tilt, Liang He stood motionless, her eyes full of confusion.
"Why aren’t you making a sound? Are you a mute beast?"
Not far away, Hoder saw this and burned with anxiety, assuming Liang He was paralyzed by fear from this inexplicable creature.
"Liang He! Don’t be afraid, I’m coming to save you right now!"
Most interstellar weapons relied on stored energy, which was then converted into bullet-like projectiles to fire. However, energy was limited after all, and in the face of a large-scale Fierce Beast invasion, it was simply not enough.
In his desperation, Hoder could only throw away his depleted Photon Gun, draw the longsword at his waist, and engage in the most primal form of slaughter.
"Dammit!" He had no idea where the Rebel Army had gotten so many Fierce Beasts; it gave him the illusion that they were endless!
Far away in the control room, the chief stationmaster—who was providing real-time intelligence to Hoder and the others regarding the number and direction of the Fierce Beasts—was equally shocked.
"These Fierce Beasts are coming from all directions. They definitely didn’t just charge in on a whim. I’m afraid they infiltrated the reserve long ago and were raised in secret, just waiting for this day to arrive."
The more the chief stationmaster thought about it, the more horrified he became. What did this mean? It meant that Dass was absolutely not the only mole from the Rebel Army. The others were hidden incredibly deep, otherwise how could they have not noticed a single clue?!
"Chief stationmaster, what do we do? We’ve lost contact with the district chief too!"
With Huo An absent, everyone seemed to have lost their backbone, entirely at a loss in the face of such a severe crisis.
"Don’t panic! We can’t lose our heads. Have Gali lead the transport team immediately and deliver a fresh batch of weapons to Hoder’s group!"
After Hoder discarded his gun, the energy in the others’ firearms also began to run dry. Upon noticing this, the chief stationmaster immediately ordered the transport team captain, Gali, to make an emergency supply run to the Seventh Service Area.
While Gali led the transport team toward the Seventh Service Area, the chief stationmaster kept a close eye on the surveillance feed showing Liang He. The massive figure shrouded in thick black fog was gradually approaching Liang He, even showing signs of surrounding and slaughtering her. This made everyone hold their breath.
"Ah! Liang He is about to be swallowed by that black fog! What do we do?!"
"What the hell is that monster?! Marshal, Commander, hurry and save her!"
"Oh no! The Marshal and the others are being delayed by the Fierce Beasts in the rear, they can’t make it in time!"
It wasn’t just the control room that was burning with anxiety; the fluffballs not far from Liang He were just as frantic. However, the endless waves of Fierce Beasts made it impossible for them to break away. They could only watch helplessly as Liang He was swallowed by the black fog.
"ROAR!"
The second Liang He disappeared, all the Beastmen went completely berserk.
"ROAR!"
"SCREECH!"
Kill! Kill them all! Slaughter every last one! Counterattacking with sheer madness, the ferocious beasts swatted the Fierce Beasts away one by one. With bloodshot eyes, they looked even more terrifying than the Fierce Beasts themselves. So this was their true strength.
"It’s over, it’s over. Liang He is gone, the Marshal and the others have gone mad. It’s all over."
The control room director slumped back into his chair. His eyes were vacant, looking like a soulless puppet, his face full of despair.
However, a turning point often arrives in the very next second. Just as the ferocious beasts lost their reason and began to counterattack with no regard for their own lives, a clear, beautiful voice awakened them like a heavenly melody.
"Cedriel, Lanton, Leopard, Jiao Jiao, don’t worry, I’m fine."
Liang He stood calmly in the black fog. She had originally wanted to use this opportunity to see the truth hidden within the mist, but unfortunately, it seemed she had overthought it. However, when she heard the roars from outside, she immediately realized that the fluffballs might have mistakenly thought she was in danger, so she quickly called out to comfort them.
"Thank God, Liang He is actually still alive!"
The control room director’s soul instantly snapped back into his body. He stood up, feeling like he could continue to control the situation. Breathing a sigh of relief alongside him were the chief stationmaster, Hoder, and the others.
Hoder in particular had already imagined the thunderous wrath he would face from Huo An if anything had happened to Liang He. But right now, Liang He was enveloped in the black fog. How were they supposed to save her?
"Chief stationmaster! Look quickly! The black fog seems to have dissipated a bit!"
Just as everyone was slaughtering Fierce Beasts while racking their brains for a way to rescue Liang He, she dashed out of the black fog on her own.
"Liang He! Are you okay?"
Hoder, who was the closest, immediately looked at Liang He with concern. Seeing that she was completely unharmed, just as before, his suspended heart finally settled.
"I’m perfectly fine." Liang He casually used her slingshot to help Hoder take down a Fierce Beast lunging at him.
Realizing what was happening a beat late, Hoder resumed slicing and dicing with his longsword. "How did you just get out?"
That black fog was bizarre and looked incredibly dangerous. The fact that Liang He had walked into it and come out completely unscathed truly surprised him.
"I just used this."
Looking at Liang He proudly holding up the high-pressure water gun in her hands, everyone who had been closely watching her fell silent. Wasn’t that the high-pressure water gun Liang He had specifically requested to clean the stubborn stains in the service area? How could it be used as a weapon?!
"Savage..."
As everyone knows, "savage" is an adjective, and in this moment, it was an absolute term of praise. Completely unaware of the massive shock she had delivered to the crowd, Liang He blinked innocently, turned around, and aimed the high-pressure water gun at the black fog.
She was still very curious about what the Fierce Beast inside actually looked like.
Everyone silently screamed, "No, sister! Please! Could you just not provoke that thing? One look and you can tell it’s not something to be messed with!"
Completely deaf to everyone’s inner screams, Liang He tucked the high-pressure water gun securely under her armpit and directly opened fire.
"PSSSH!"
Having never experienced the power of a high-pressure water gun, the black fog was caught entirely off guard. A small patch of it was blasted apart, revealing a glimpse of iridescent, glass-like black scales.
"Huh? It’s actually not a fluffball?"
Seeing that Liang He wouldn’t give up until she revealed its true form, and having realized just how much a high-pressure water gun blast hurt, the black fog immediately tried to sever the gun’s hose.
"BANG!"
A portion of the black fog reared up high and crashed down heavily, directly crushing and bursting the water hose. Water splashed everywhere before returning to its "gentle-as-water" nature.
"You have quite the temper. I just wanted to take a look at you, why are you being so stingy?"
Seeing her high-pressure water gun destroyed, Liang He pouted in displeasure, then pulled a pair of gloves out of her pocket. Under the black fog’s bewildered gaze, Liang He calmly put on the gloves, then raised her eyes and locked onto her target.
Danger! This was the signal the black fog received. The black fog couldn’t understand. Why would a mere Blue Star person emit such a strong signal of danger?
"Disobedient children get spanked, you know."
A smile played at the corners of Liang He’s lips, and for the first time, a playful, wicked expression appeared on her small face. She dashed fiercely toward the black fog while calling out to the Canglan Hunting Eagle.
"Lanton! Fly me up!"
