Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Kitty Sighs, Feeding Is Not Easy

As Liang He looked on in shock and the Mengji Snow Leopard stared in confusion, the dying crocodile weakly twitched its tail.

"It’s still alive?"

Perhaps because Liang He liked her food fresh, the Mengji Snow Leopard had copied her by not killing the crocodile outright. Instead, he dragged it back to the service area half-dead.

"MEOW."

The Mengji Snow Leopard looked innocently at Liang He, wondering why she wasn’t praising him.

Liang He rubbed her forehead with a slight headache. How was she supposed to tell the Mengji Snow Leopard that while crocodiles could be on his menu, they definitely shouldn’t be on a human’s?

"Ahem, Leopard, you’re amazing too, but I really can’t stomach this crocodile." Gently petting the Mengji Snow Leopard’s large, bewildered head, Liang He softly explained the reason to him.

Perhaps due to the time they had spent together, the Mengji Snow Leopard gathered that she probably didn’t like eating crocodile and could only let out a regretful sigh. Raising a two-legged beast was truly no easy feat.

"Hey, he can even sigh?" Xu Yi, who had come over to watch the show after hearing that the Mengji Snow Leopard had brought back a crocodile, looked at the beast playfully.

The Mengji Snow Leopard silently kicked the dying crocodile on the ground, annoyed that it couldn’t earn him Liang He’s praise. Then, he gloomily lay down at her feet, looking completely dispirited.

"Is a cat sighing really that strange? Don’t make fun of Leopard," Liang He retorted on the Mengji Snow Leopard’s behalf. Seeing his pitiful appearance—so dejected he didn’t even care about his soaking wet fur—she hurriedly hugged him. "Alright, don’t be sad, Leopard. I’m already thrilled that you were thinking of me."

Regardless, the Mengji Snow Leopard had gone hunting in the freezing water during the dead of winter just for her. That sentiment alone was worth cherishing. Of course, the same went for the Mojin King Tiger and the Canglan Hunting Eagle.

"Doctor Xu, I don’t know if this crocodile will survive. If it can, please treat it. If not, just let Leopard eat it." Survival of the fittest was the law of nature. Liang He wouldn’t force the Mengji Snow Leopard to go against his own instincts.

"Alright, leave it to me."

After handing the crocodile over to Xu Yi, Liang He quickly brought the three Beast Beasts into the animal dormitory. They were all wet to varying degrees and needed to be dried off immediately lest they catch a cold.

Xu Yi, whose workload had inexplicably increased, obediently examined the crocodile. He discovered that the Mengji Snow Leopard had merely knocked it out; the actual injuries weren’t severe, and it could still be saved. Thus, Xu Yi handed the crocodile over to a service area with swamps and lakes, letting them take care of it.

"All done. You’re nice and dry good babies again."

After blow-drying the last fluffy animal, Liang He suddenly threw her arms around them. Nestled in their embrace and resting her head on a soft belly, she casually began scrolling through the Star Network, checking on the status of her previous orders.

"Oh? The ball I bought for Jiao Jiao and all your toys have arrived." Seeing that the order had already been delivered to the Main Service Area for collection, Liang He couldn’t help but marvel. The Blue Star delivery speed was incredibly fast—interstellar express delivery truly lived up to its name! "Now we just have to wait for tomorrow’s supply transport vehicle to bring our packages over."

To be honest, having deliveries brought straight to the door without needing to pick them up herself felt pretty good.

After resting for a while, Liang He started busying herself with dinner. She used the fish the Mojin King Tiger had caught to make pickled cabbage fish slices and fish soup. The leftover fish was minced into a paste to make canned fish as little snacks for her fluffy companions.

"How should I cook this rabbit meat? I need to look it up."

Liang He’s recipes usually featured common ingredients. Even though many people ate rabbit meat, she had never tried it herself. However, since the Canglan Hunting Eagle had gone through the trouble of bringing it back, she naturally couldn’t let his efforts go to waste. She had to search the Star Network for rabbit recipes.

"How about making cold spicy rabbit and numbingly spicy rabbit heads?" They could serve as snacks. Munching on them and sipping some fruit wine while watching cartoons with the fluffy animals at night—life couldn’t get any better.

Hoder, who had been on high alert, saw her enthusiastically making food without the slightest sense of impending doom. While feeling helpless, he also suddenly felt less tense. Whatever will be, will be. As the old Blue Star saying went, you can’t avoid what’s destined to happen, so you just deal with the problems as they arise. He would let nature take its course!

Completely unaware that even Hoder had been led astray by Liang He’s relaxed pace, Huo An was currently following Kerry and leading the Law Enforcement Team to track down the Rebel Army’s location.

"Captain, are these military dogs reliable? Are we really counting on them to find the Rebel Army?" The Law Enforcer, who was hearing about using military dogs to track the Rebel Army for the first time, felt a bit apprehensive and highly doubted the feasibility of the plan.

"Military dogs are far more reliable than you." Kerry rolled his eyes at his teammate. It was common knowledge that rigorously trained military dogs would never back down, regardless of the danger. Since the establishment of the military dog department, there had never been a deserter dog on the battlefield—though human deserters were certainly possible.

Rebuked by his captain, the team member curled his lip but didn’t say anything more. It wasn’t until the two military dogs, which had originally taken separate paths, began to converge that he cried out in surprise.

"What’s going on? Could they have actually found the Rebel Army’s location?"

Earlier, to prevent interference and ensure the accuracy of the results, Kerry had deliberately split the team into two groups, each leading one military dog. Now that the two dogs were converging, it meant the missing team members and the Rebel Army were indeed in the same direction.

"Don’t make a fuss. If you startle the dogs and cause them to make a wrong judgment, we’re doomed."

They had finally found a glimmer of hope to rescue their people, and no one wanted to let it slip away—especially since they could also use this opportunity to uncover the Rebel Army’s stronghold on the Sky Shining Star.

"Got it, I’ll keep my voice down."

The group quietly followed behind the military dogs, inexplicably feeling the illusion that they were the ones being walked by the dogs. Every so often, Kerry and Huo An would let the dogs catch the scent again to prevent the myriad of smells along the way from confusing them and causing a misjudgment.

"Why is this area getting more and more remote?" Looking at the surrounding scenery, Kerry frowned deeply, an unsettling feeling washing over him. Led by the military dogs, the group moved from the main streets out toward the suburbs, eventually arriving at a desolate, uninhabited wasteland.

"Aren’t the Rebel Army like rats crossing the street, hated by everyone? It’s normal for them to hide out in a remote area, right?" the Law Enforcer who had previously doubted the dogs spoke up again.

He felt their captain was just being overly cautious. Then there was Governor Huo. If he had just arrested the Rebel Army member who met with Dass instead of vainly attempting to track him back to their lair, they might have already tortured the location of the stronghold out of him. There would be no need for this miserable search-and-rescue mission.

"Keep your mouth shut. Nobody thinks you’re a mute." Seeing Kerry’s and Huo An’s expressions darkening, another Law Enforcer quickly grabbed the complainer, telling him to cut the crap and just follow obediently.

Compared to those without a sense of danger, Huo An’s instincts were clearly much sharper. "There’s something wrong here. Everyone, be careful."

Hearing this, everyone’s hearts tightened. This was especially true for Kerry; as the captain, he had made a silent oath. Since he had led his team members on this mission, he was going to bring every single one of them back alive!

"I’ll take the lead. If there’s danger, fall back immediately!"

Kerry handed the dog’s leash to a team member and walked at the very front to scout the way. Just as he was starting to think he had overreacted, he suddenly realized that a Photon Gun was aimed right between his eyebrows.

"Fall back! Fall back! It’s an ambush!"
