Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Tsundere Little Crown Prince VS Cunning Old Father!

When Cyril, under the King’s watchful eyes, finished watching all the videos under the account name ’Fur Raising Officer’, his silence was deafening.

"Are they really Cedriel and Lord Lanton?" Were these the famous Federation Marshal and the First Commander of the Battlefield? This was completely shameless!

"The genuine article." At first, the King couldn’t believe it either. To think that someone could not only soothe Beastmen who had transformed into fierce beasts, but even tame them, making creatures that originally rejected human captivity and feeding as obedient as ordinary household pets. Oh, this definitely couldn’t be heard by the families of Cedriel and the others.

"So, do you understand why I insisted on sending you to the Tianyao Star Protection Zone now?" The old father had truly worked his heart to the bone worrying over his youngest son, Cyril.

"I admit this Breeder named Liang He has some skill, but I still don’t want to go." Cyril would much rather stay on Golden Radiance Star to pass his Evolutionary Stage. It wasn’t as if the Golden Radiance Empire didn’t have its own protection zones.

"Heh, I think you’re just afraid that you’ll end up submitting to Liang He, just like Cedriel and the others, aren’t you?" The King scoffed, seeing right through his son’s petty thoughts and mercilessly exposing them.

"Wh-who said that! I’m definitely much better than them. I would never submit to a weak Blue Star person!" Sure enough, Cyril jumped up in agitation just as the King predicted, endlessly making excuses in an attempt to cover up the truth.

"Words are empty. I think you’re just afraid that once you meet Liang He, you’ll perform even worse than they did, to the point where you can’t even compete for her favor." He had heard that Liang He was exceptionally popular among the fierce beasts, with each of them trying every possible method to vie for her favor and attention. This arrogant, smug brat of his probably truly wouldn’t be able to win her affection.

"Forget it, forget it. I don’t think Liang He would like a Beastman with your personality anyway. Do whatever you want, I don’t care anymore." With that said, the King prepared to leave Cyril’s bedroom. Seeing this, Cyril immediately stepped forward and blocked his old father.

"Who says so! Not only will I not submit to her, I’ll even use my own abilities to make her like me!" Poor foolish boy, he still didn’t know that making someone like him was the very beginning of submitting to them.

His scheme successful, the King suppressed the upward curve of his lips and cast a feigned cold glance at Cyril. "There’s no need to act out of spite with me. I don’t want to be an autocratic father."

"I’m not! If you don’t believe me, let’s make a bet!" The more the King said this, the more Cyril wanted to prove a point. Seeing him successfully take the bait, a trace of delight flashed through the King’s eyes. He coughed twice, pretending to be serious. "Since you insist on going, then we have a deal. No regrets allowed."

"Absolutely no regrets! However, I have a condition too. If I succeed, let me be a hovercar racer!" Although Cyril was the Imperial Crown Prince and enjoyed boundless wealth and glory, he was also subject to many restrictions. He actually really wanted to be a hovercar racer and enjoy the sensory thrill brought by speed.

"Fine." The King’s unhesitating agreement left Cyril speechless with surprise. His emerald-like eyes widened roundly, completely unable to believe that his father had agreed so easily, especially when he had always opposed it before!

"Really?! You have to keep your word. Whoever backs out is a puppy!" Cyril was so excited he practically jumped up, his light golden curls flying in the air. Little did he know, the reason the King had previously disagreed was because he was still underage. By the time he returned from the protection zone, he would not only be an adult but would have also safely passed his Evolutionary Stage. A mere hovercar wouldn’t be able to hurt Cyril at all, so naturally, there was no need for him to worry.

"It’s a deal!"

"It’s a deal!"

Just like that, Cyril fell so naively into the pit dug by his old father, still feeling immensely pleased with himself, thinking he had gained a huge advantage. And the truly cunning King, quite satisfied with the son he had so easily manipulated, left with a beaming smile.

Liang He, who still didn’t know she had been targeted and viewed as a goal by the Imperial Crown Prince, was currently attending the protection zone’s monthly meeting.

"Liang He, I’m the captain of the Guard Team. Hello!"

"M-Me, I’m the director of the central control room. Hello, Liang He!"

"I’m the captain of the transport team in charge of supply logistics. Hello, Liang He!"

Attending the protection zone’s monthly meeting for the first time, Liang He had originally thought she would just be an unknown, invisible nobody. She hadn’t expected that the moment she arrived at the conference room, she would be surrounded by various captains and directors.

"Ah? Hello, hello everyone." Looking utterly bewildered, Liang He was somewhat at a loss in the face of her enthusiastic colleagues. They bore no ill will and merely wanted to greet her. Liang He couldn’t possibly shoo them away with a cold face, so she could only scan the room for a familiar figure, attempting to seek help.

In the end, it was the Chief Stationmaster, freshly returned from his vacation, who pulled her out of the surrounding crowd with a kindly smile. "Alright, don’t scare the little girl. Hurry up and get back to your seats, lest the Zone Chief gets angry seeing what a mess you’re making."

It was unclear whether the Chief Stationmaster’s words were highly effective, or if Huo An’s formidable reputation as the Zone Chief preceded him, but the colleagues who had just been gathered around scattered in all directions. In an instant, only Liang He and the Chief Stationmaster were left standing there.

"You are... the Chief Stationmaster?" When Liang He had first applied for the job, the Chief Stationmaster was one of the interviewers.

"That’s right. Just call me Uncle Liao."

"Hello, Uncle Liao."

Looking at the gentle and kindly Uncle Liao, Liang He nodded gratefully. Her well-behaved demeanor made Uncle Liao like this junior even more.

"Good, hello to you too. Later, when the meeting starts, remember not to zone out. The Zone Chief will call on you." Uncle Liao guided Liang He to her seat, leaving her with that admonition before walking over to sit in the first row, leaving behind a completely confused Liang He.

She wondered why Huo An would call on her, and what he wanted with her. Feeling as though there was some kind of conspiracy afoot, Liang He suddenly couldn’t sit still. She kind of missed her fluffy friends at home. "As expected, the fluffies are still the most pure and reliable."

As soon as Huo An entered the conference room, he saw Liang He muttering softly to herself. He raised an eyebrow slightly, realizing that even after he had walked up to the podium, Liang He hadn’t noticed his presence. However, Huo An didn’t show any displeasure at this. Instead, a faint smile flashed in his eyes. Although he couldn’t hear clearly what Liang He was saying, among a group of interstellar people whose average height was over 1.9 meters, the petite Liang He appeared exceptionally cute, as exquisite as one of those currently popular collectible figurines.

"Ahem, the monthly meeting will now begin. Please remain quiet."

Huo An’s voice echoed through the entire conference room via the microphone. Even though it was a hall capable of holding over a thousand people, Huo An’s voice sounded as if it were right by her ear. Liang He instantly raised her head and, unsurprisingly, met Huo An’s gaze. Oh boy, she had been caught zoning out. Unhurriedly, Liang He returned a smile, putting on the appearance of a well-behaved and attentive listener as Huo An spoke.

"During this period..."

Besides Huo An giving a speech as the Zone Chief, Chief Stationmaster Uncle Liao, along with the branch stationmasters of each service area, and the captains and directors of various departments, all gave their work reports.

Liang He, who had absolutely never expected that she would still have to listen to incomprehensible jargon even after starting work, almost fell asleep. She couldn’t figure it out either. Why would she be made to attend this kind of leadership meeting when all her other ordinary colleagues were still at their respective posts?

"Now, I will announce the latest appointment for the Key Royal Animal Protection Zone."

Liang He, who had been listening until she was drowsy, had already become a soulless clapping machine. However, in the next second, she snapped awake instantly, as if a basin of ice water had been poured over her.

"I hereby appoint Miss Liang He of Blue Star as the branch stationmaster of the Seventh Service Area. Let us welcome her with a round of applause!"
