Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Raising Beast Beast Is Also a Science

Head spinning, Liang He had stumbled onto the stage in a daze, given her speech in a daze, and left in a daze.

Even after the meeting adjourned, she still hadn’t snapped out of her bewilderment over her sudden promotion and raise.

"SCREECH!"

"Holy crap! Isn’t that Commander... the Canglan Hunting Eagle?! Why did he fly over here?!"

The conference room was located at the main service station. Fierce beasts like the Canglan Hunting Eagle typically wouldn’t come anywhere near it. After all, they abhorred the scent of humans, which they associated with captivity, hand-feeding, and less-than-pleasant medical treatments.

"Lanton?"

Finally snapping back to reality, Liang He tilted her head up slightly. She watched the Canglan Hunting Eagle approach from a distance, his deep blue feathers shimmering brilliantly in the sunlight. It was obvious he had been well taken care of.

"SCREECH~"

Having finally locked onto his target, the Canglan Hunting Eagle swooped down. He dove straight for Liang He, coming to a skidding halt barely a meter away from her, though he didn’t fold his wings.

"Are you here to pick me up?"

The onlookers drawn by the commotion had no idea how Liang He managed to communicate across species. Regardless, whatever she said went, and Mr. Lanton certainly wasn’t going to contradict her.

"SCREECH~"

Seeing the crowd of onlookers growing, Liang He feared being interrogated with endless questions. Without delay, she scrambled onto the Canglan Hunting Eagle’s broad back, leaned forward slightly, and gripped his feathers. As for the hovercar she had driven here, she could just have someone set it to autopilot; it would naturally find its way back to the Seventh Service Area.

"Wow! I can’t believe I’m seeing someone ride on Mr. Lanton’s back and fly through the air with my own eyes. That’s so cool!"

With a piercing cry, the Canglan Hunting Eagle took to the wind. Under the envious gazes of the crowd, he quickly vanished into the sky.

Standing in his office, Huo An watched them disappear into the distance. He suddenly recalled the news he had received recently: quite a few parents had already begun asking him about Liang He, hoping to send their children to her to be raised.

"Being a Station Chief might just be your starting point, Liang He. I look forward to seeing you shine brilliantly in the future." With the protection of the Federation and various other factions, he believed that day wouldn’t be too far off.

Completely unaware of the high hopes placed upon her, Liang He was currently regretting her decision to take this Falcon-brand private jet.

"Lanton! Slow down!"

The weather had turned cold recently, and winter was fast approaching. To make matters worse, the Canglan Hunting Eagle was flying way too fast. Without any wind protection, her face stung from the sharp gusts whipping against it. Left with no other choice, Liang He awkwardly shifted her posture, flattening herself against Lanton’s back. She wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face in his feathers to shield herself from the wind.

"SCREECH!"

While the high speed made her face hurt, it also meant her ordeal was over much sooner.

By the time an exhausted Liang He climbed off the Canglan Hunting Eagle’s back, looking as if she had just survived a disaster, the Mojin King Tiger and the Mengji Snow Leopard—who had been waiting for quite a while—immediately crowded around her.

"AWOOO~"

"MEOW?"

Compared to the sweet but goofy Mojin King Tiger, the Mengji Snow Leopard was clearly much more perceptive of human emotions. He instantly noticed Liang He’s poor state and hurried over, using his body—which was just starting to grow a soft layer of fuzz—to catch and support her.

"Leopard, you’re so sweet. You knew I was tired."

Taking advantage of his support, Liang He slumped over the Mengji Snow Leopard’s back. However, she kept her feet planted firmly on the ground, making sure not to put her actual body weight on him.

Seeing this, the Mojin King Tiger finally caught on and decided to join the fun. Wanting to carry her too, he nudged her until Liang He spent a while playing piggyback rides with him. It wasn’t until her stomach began to rumble with hunger that Liang He finally recovered from her dazed state. She got up and started preparing to enjoy her lunch.

"Thank goodness I stewed the braised pork bones and the carrot and pork rib soup in advance, otherwise who knows what time I’d finally get to eat."

With Hoder around, Liang He didn’t have to worry about electrical safety. She only needed him to keep an eye on the stove to prevent the pots from boiling dry. Since she hadn’t known what time the meeting would end, Liang He had told Hoder to eat first and not wait for her. As a result, she was the only one who needed to fill her stomach right now.

"It’s almost winter, and who knows when Leopard’s fur will fully grow back. Maybe... I should knit him a sweater?"

The large bone Liang He had just finished gnawing clean was sneakily snatched away by the little wolf cubs to use as a teething toy. Seeing this, Cedriel and Kuang Ye actually lined up as well, waiting for their own large teething bones to be distributed.

Being stared down intensely by a tiger and a leopard, Liang He actually felt pressured just trying to eat her meat. She was utterly speechless.

"I know, I know. I’ll get them for you right away."

Eventually, unable to withstand their eager stares any longer, Liang He could only strip most of the meat off her remaining bones and set it aside in her bowl. The leftover bones still had a bit of meat attached, and since they didn’t contain too much salt, she let the beasts snatch them right up.

"Sigh, raising kids is really not easy. They don’t mind having a little, but they sure mind if things aren’t split evenly." Watching their fully satisfied figures happily gnawing away, Liang He couldn’t help but marvel.

Fortunately, other than the Mengji Snow Leopard needing medical treatment, the other Beast Beasts didn’t require too much worry. Even the little wolf cubs had Cedriel helping to babysit them.

After finishing her meal, Liang He cleaned up the kitchen and took a nap with the Beast Beasts. By the time she woke up, the Mojin King Tiger and the Canglan Hunting Eagle had already taken the little wolf cubs out to get some fresh air.

"Leopard, are you awake?"

"MEOW~"

Still groggy from sleep, Liang He washed her face, then walked to the treatment room. She led the Mengji Snow Leopard onto the medical scanner. Once the results came out, she forwarded them to Xu Yi so he could adjust the medication.

[Xu Yi: The scan results look pretty good. Just stick to the treatment for one more cycle, and he should be mostly recovered.]

[Xu Yi: He still needs to take the oral medication, but the topical ointment is no longer necessary. The wounds have practically all healed.]

[Xu Yi: As expected of our Station Chief Liang! You stepped up and immediately handled the incredibly difficult Mengji Snow Leopard.]

Faced with Xu Yi’s endless stream of teasing, Liang He opted to ignore him. To be honest, she still hadn’t fully processed the fact that she had been promoted to Station Chief of the Seventh Service Area.

"Sigh... I’m clearly just an ordinary Breeder."

"MEOW~"

Seeing Liang He sighing so heavily, the Mengji Snow Leopard assumed it was because of him. He hurriedly bounded off the medical scanner and continuously circled around her, looking for an opportunity to rub against her.

"Hmm? Do you want a hug?"

"AWOOO!"

Liang He gave the Mengji Snow Leopard a massive hug, only to be caught red-handed by the Mojin King Tiger, who had just finished babysitting and come back to check if she was awake. She realized she was busted once again.

Feeling guilty, Liang He hurriedly pushed open the treatment room door, plastered a smile on her face, and gave Cedriel a massive hug.

"Cedriel, you’re back! I’ve been waiting for you for so long!"

It was a preemptive strike. Liang He didn’t care whether Cedriel understood her or not; she just needed to shift the blame away from herself first.

"Liang He is seriously acting more and more like a player..."

Inside the central control room, the staff who had witnessed the entire scene felt a twinge of sorrow as they watched the Marshal being coaxed into spinning in circles. Heaven have mercy, the Marshal’s lifelong reputation for brilliance was being utterly destroyed by Liang He.

"With such expert manipulative tactics, no wonder the Marshal and the others are completely under Liang He’s thumb."

"I’m genuinely afraid that once they finally make it through their Evolutionary Stage, they’ll remember everything that happened during this time and die of sheer embarrassment."

"Never mind the future. Winter is almost here, and many animals are likely starting to stockpile food. You all need to step up patrols and monitoring."

The director of the control room looked out at the increasingly chilly weather, his heart sinking slightly. Liang He’s constitution was special. It was entirely possible that the Seventh Service Area might become a prime target for the wild animals.
