The Fluffballs I Fed Were SSS-Rank Beastmen
Chapter 32: Beast Beast Poked the Pheasants’ Nest
Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Beast Beast Poked the Pheasants’ Nest
Soaring in the sky, Lanton watched the tiger-leopard brawl from above, taking in the entire process from start to finish.
Originally hoping to take advantage of the chaos—or rather, slip in while they were distracted—he was the first to spot the two little wolf pups in danger and immediately swooped down.
"Lanton?"
Hearing the Canglan Hunting Eagle’s cry, Liang He looked over in confusion. She belatedly realized that Little Nuomu and Little Sesame were nowhere to be seen. Standing up immediately, she looked around and spotted Little Nian Gao floundering in the stream.
"Little Nian Gao!"
Liang He sprinted toward Little Nian Gao. Realizing that he had truly made a mistake, the Mojin King Tiger was even faster. He pounced straight toward Little Nian Gao, opened his maw, and scooped it out of the water.
Seeing this, Liang He breathed a sigh of relief, but then suddenly remembered—wait, where did Little Sesame go?
"WHIMPER WHIMPER."
A sky-obscuring shadow appeared overhead again. Liang He finally got a clear look at the lump dangling from the Canglan Hunting Eagle’s beak—wasn’t that the Little Sesame she was looking for?!
Looking like a drowned rat, Little Sesame let out weak, whimpering sounds. Liang He hurriedly took it from Lanton’s eagle beak and wrapped it in her jacket.
"That’s what you get for being naughty. Now you’re a drowned rat!"
"SCREECH!"
The Canglan Hunting Eagle flapped his wings. He had originally wanted to go back and save Little Nian Gao, only to find that the Mojin King Tiger had beaten him to it and was already returning with an equally drenched Little Nian Gao.
"You’re amazing, Lanton! If you hadn’t spotted the danger in time, Little Sesame and Little Nian Gao would have been dead for sure."
Liang He planted a firm kiss on the Canglan Hunting Eagle’s small head, praising him endlessly.
Seeing this, the Mojin King Tiger, who was also carrying a drenched pup in his mouth, immediately sprinted over, wagging his tail at Liang He to claim credit.
"Yes, yes, our Cedriel is also amazing. Good boy!"
Liang He took Little Nian Gao from the Mojin King Tiger’s mouth and tucked it into her jacket alongside the other, not blaming the tiger for his dereliction of duty.
After all, Cedriel was just a beast. He didn’t know any better, nor was it his obligation to look after the two wolf pups. At the end of the day, she was the one who had neglected her duties.
"MEOW~"
The Mengji Snow Leopard, who had fallen a step behind due to his injuries, now arrived by Liang He’s side.
Sensing Liang He’s somewhat downcast mood, he quickly tried to comfort her and cheer her up. Along the way, he had also dragged over the blanket she had draped over him to keep him from catching a cold.
"Wow, Leopard, you’re so smart. Is this blanket for Little Nian Gao and Little Sesame? You’re the best!"
Because the Mengji Snow Leopard had many wounds, a portion of his fur inevitably had to be shaved off during treatment. With the weather gradually turning colder, Liang He had prepared the blanket for him, but now it served as an emergency supply.
"MEOW~"
Liang He took Little Nian Gao and Little Sesame out of her jacket, wrapped them in the fluffy, warm blanket, and then carried them toward the aircraft.
Neither the Canglan Hunting Eagle nor the Mojin King Tiger liked riding in the aircraft. Besides, their injuries were mostly healed, so it was good for them to get some exercise.
Thus, Liang He boarded the aircraft with the injured Mengji Snow Leopard and the two drenched wolf pups, while the Canglan Hunting Eagle and the Mojin King Tiger sprinted behind them. Halfway there, however, the two silently agreed to slip away.
It wasn’t until Liang He and the others returned to the service area, gave the wolf pups a hot bath, and blow-dried their fur that the tiger and the eagle finally returned, each dragging their own prey.
"I was wondering why I didn’t see you two just now. So you went hunting."
Seeing them return safely, Liang He felt relieved. She was just about to help them process their prey when she realized that everything they had caught today were wild pheasants.
"Good heavens, did you guys raid a pheasant nest?"
The Mojin King Tiger and the Canglan Hunting Eagle pushed the pheasants toward Liang He. Immediately understanding their intentions, she felt both surprised and somewhat touched.
"So, you specifically went hunting for me?"
After spending this period of time together, Cedriel and Lanton both knew that she couldn’t eat many of the animals they hunted. She would only pick a little from the poultry or fish they brought back, which was why they had gone to such great lengths to find these wild pheasants.
Fortunately, with the Canglan Hunting Eagle’s pinpoint eagle eyes, the two beasts cooperated with perfect synchrony, taking down the fleeing pheasants in one fell swoop.
"ROAR~"
"SCREECH~"
The tiger and the eagle snuggled against Liang He’s shoulders, enjoying the comfortable sensation of her hands weaving through their fur and feathers. Watching from the sidelines, the Mengji Snow Leopard grew extremely envious.
He had to recover from his injuries as soon as possible so he could hunt for his two-legged beast! He would catch even more prey!
"Alright, how about we have roast chicken tonight?"
Liang He never wanted to let her fluffy companions down. She made a prompt decision to change the menu and prepare roast chicken for dinner.
However, there were so many pheasants that she and Hoder wouldn’t be able to finish them all. She could also make some that Cedriel and the others could eat, and stew some chicken soup to help Kuang Ye nourish his body.
"ROAR!"
"SCREECH!"
The Beast Beasts never seemed to have any objections to Liang He’s arrangements, chiming in with their enthusiastic responses.
As soon as the roast chicken feast was served, it was madly scrambled for. Liang He could barely control the chaotic scene.
Meanwhile, far away on the Golden Radiance Star, Imperial Crown Prince Cyril was currently facing the earnest nagging of his old father.
"Father, why do I have to go to the Sky Shining Star to spend my Evolutionary Stage? I don’t want to!"
Cyril was the child born to the Emperor and Queen in their later years. As a highly talented SSS-level Beastman, he had been pampered and protected in the palms of the King and Queen’s hands since childhood, terrified that he might even suffer the slightest scratch.
However, the inevitable ordeal every SSS-level Beastman had to face was the Evolutionary Stage.
With less than two months left until adulthood, Cyril naturally became the King’s "greatest concern."
"No! This matter is not up to you. Once you come of age, I will send you to the Sky Shining Star!"
As soon as Cyril entered his Evolutionary Stage, he would be sent straight into the royal primary Animal Protection Zone. That was the only place that would be absolutely safe!
"If you force me, I’m going to tattle to Mother!"
As the King of the Empire, he appeared majestic and solemn on the surface. But as his son, Cyril knew his weak spot better than anyone: his father was a bona fide henpecked husband.
"Hmph, I knew you would use that trick. Your mother and I have already discussed this, and she agrees with my decision."
The King raised an eyebrow triumphantly. Even though the Queen couldn’t bear to part with him, this was a matter of their son’s life and death. Naturally, she wouldn’t let Cyril act willfully.
"You! You crafty old fox!"
Countered so thoroughly, Cyril’s cheeks puffed out in anger. He couldn’t understand why even his mother had turned against him.
"Then you at least have to tell me why, right?"
Cyril still refused to give up, wanting an explanation.
Seeing this, the King’s attitude softened significantly, and he began to tell him about Kuang Ye.
"You should be well aware of Admiral Kuang Ye’s situation."
Kuang Ye had been blindsided by the Rebel Army on the battlefield. Not only was he severely injured, but he also suddenly entered his Evolutionary Stage, making him unable to receive treatment and leaving him in critical condition.
"Yeah, but what does that have to do with this?"
Cyril didn’t quite understand the connection.
"The connection is that someone managed to pacify Kuang Ye after his Beastification, allowing him to successfully receive treatment and escape danger."
The King had already received the latest news: Kuang Ye’s injuries were mostly healed. Moreover, under Liang He’s pacification, he no longer strongly rejected the approach of humans.
Even the fierce beasts—who were originally accustomed to occupying their own territories and acting as lone wolves—were living together in perfect harmony under Liang He’s guidance. They could even hunt together!
Otherwise, as an old father, he wouldn’t have gone so far as to send Cyril away to the distant Sky Shining Star.
"How is that possible?!"
