The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 2090: Too Many Options

Rue was just finishing up the last of the spears when Leon came to find Tian.

The Seraphim hadn’t realized that they had visitors, and he froze in the doorway with a startled look on his face, then waved to the fox, who was in human form, putting the final touches on their day’s work.

"Lord Eryman, this is Leon. He’s a Crusader, another fan of holy magic, and he’s got Seraphim Bodyguards that look just like him.

It’s pretty neat."

Leon bowed to Eryman, who was laughing at Tian’s description.

"As Tian said, I also specialize in Holy magic, but that’s a bit of a given, since I’m a Seraphim. Holy magic is the one element that we’re actually good at using. It is strange to see you so far from your home. But I assume that you got word of our crafting skills?" Leon asked.

"I did. Are you also a craftsman?" Eryman asked.

"Indeed, I am a Runemaster. While I’m not a Divine Smith like these two, I am skilled enough at making items, and my work is a staple of the store, as I can quickly turn out a large number of mediocre pieces for the warrior on a budget."

Eryman knew that was too euphemistic by half. A supreme ranked Seraphim would be able to make holy weapons every bit as good as the ones that he had ordered here today, and he would be able to do it alone, since he didn’t need a second person to do the holy blessing.

Logically, they should have called him here to do the work.

But Eryman suspected that Cara wanted Tian to do the design, since the fox had a sense of style that went well with the needs of the project. He certainly couldn’t complain about how it came out.

"What did you need? Are we going to go play?" Tian asked hopefully.

"Not quite, I was actually coming to find you so that we could map out the design for a new set of armour together. There have been a lot of orders for floral themed ladies armour since Dana fought in the arena, and we don’t have much in stock.

Rae has some, but many of the customers are looking for metal equipment."

Tian smiled. "Oh, this will be amazing. Dana themed floral armour pieces will be a huge seller, I just know it. Plus, they simply look good. No matter what inspired them, there is no way that they can go wrong with a nice floral themed armour set."

Eryman nodded. "I can’t argue with that. If you don’t mind, I think that I will stay here, in this separated space, while you work."

Tian shook his head. "Follow me, there is a better space. This one is loud, but forges always are. We have another room just with drafting tables and books and such. It’s much quieter, and it’s made just like this one, as a separate space within the Guild House.

So, nobody will bother you there, and we can have the bunnies bring you snacks.

Everyone who comes to visit us gets snacks."

Eryman nodded. That was the first thing that happened when he told Cara that he was a customer. She gave him and his people cupcakes.

If he knew what the cupcakes were all about, he might change his mind. But Cara had graciously donated these ones because he came to buy things, not because she had found his pockets lacking.

They were, but that was not why he got the cupcakes.

The Legend did not realize at first that he had been volunteered as a taste tester for new pastries. Only when they brought out the third tray, and none of the contents matched the first two, did he realize that everywhere within the Darklight Host Guild House was part of their training area.

He might be a guest, or a customer, but that didn’t mean that he was exempt from their attempts to improve their skills in every way possible.

And that alone told him a lot about this city, and what he should expect.

If this was how their Guild House was run, then the shops in town should be for the products that passed the vetting here. Meaning that every coffee shop and bakery in town, and any food that they sold in the arena, were likely products made with advanced Mystic or Divine Cooking skills.

Mystic Cooking wasn’t a rare skill on this planet. But Divine Cooking definitely was, and that was what he was tasting from the pastries.

However, he did have some questions about the abundance of Immortal Rank bunnies.

That was not normal, but he decided to keep that thought to himself, and see if there was an obvious reason that presented itself. Most clans kept them as mortal servants, and their Gods were ones of fertility, so mortality wasn’t a drawback to them.

But these highly capable cousins of the bunny clans were extremely skilled.

The other clans were missing out.

"Want to try our new fruit punch?" One of the bunnies asked as Eryman finished the latest round of pastries, and wrote a detailed report on what he thought of the flavour profiles.

The bunnies hadn’t asked directly, but he could see that they were interested.

"Sure. What’s in it?"

"Five different magical fruits, and a lot of rum."

Now that sounded like an interesting version of fruit punch.

"Alright, bring it out and let’s see what it’s like. Mixing fruits and rum can have interesting flavour interactions."

The bunnies nodded. They had thought of that, and they used a sweet black rum to go with the punch, so that it didn’t have a harsh note like so many other liquors would. But it could also be toned down, so that you didn’t get quite as drunk, and the magical effects from the fruits would mingle in your body instead.

That effect was what most people were after when they ordered it.
