The First Legendary Beast Master
Chapter 2089: Questionably Epic
"You know, when I thought that you might turn out something that was only questionably "Epic Grade" I thought that it would be on the other end of Epic.
This, it’s something entirely different," Eryman noted.
Rue admired her handiwork, turning the spear over in her hands.
"Yes, this came out wonderfully. I think that if we had added any more to it, the weapon might have come out Peerless to start with, but as it is, the bump is just from the fact that it’s a Holy Weapon.
The standard for devout enough to make the weapon upgrade is not low," she explained.
"Ah, so Paladins, Avatars, likely most clerics."
Rue nodded in agreement. "Some of each might not qualify, that’s how strict it tends to be. But Avatars are basically guaranteed to get the bonus. If they weren’t favoured, they wouldn’t have gotten the status.
Honestly, I’m still a bit shocked that Karl got Avatar of the World Dragon.
I know that the World Dragon is a bit of an odd one, and Karl has always been favoured by the System, but calling him an avatar so soon seems premature."
"It’s likely the fox wife.
The World Dragon has a thing for people who rely entirely on absolute bullshit luck, with a fondness for cute things. I am told that at one point, the World Dragon kept a Pet Lamia that he wore as a belt."
Rue gave the Legend a doubtful look.
She had heard a lot of rumours about the World Dragon and his Ancients, who were well known to keep nearly everything as a pet.
To the point that the Black Dragon was sick of their nonsense. But it seemed a bit outlandish to think that they would actually wear a Lamia as a belt. Plus, how would you keep them there? Lamia were like Naga, a sentient species. They could just unwrap themselves and leave.
Though, it might be wise not to tell Remi about that rumour, or she would find an excuse not to go anywhere by herself, and would begin hitching a ride everywhere.
The Naga would find that idea to be entirely too beneficial, when she could just wrap herself around someone to continue the conversation as they did something else. It was peak efficiency, as long as the person she attached herself to was doing the things that she wanted to be doing.
Perhaps it wasn’t as outlandish as it sounded.
Rue handed the Legend the blade to inspect it for himself, and Eryman began to go over the details with the practiced eye of a man who had fought countless battles over countless centuries.
If there was a hidden flaw, he would find it.
"It all looks good to me. I don’t see any flaws in the manufacture of the weapon, and no obvious design flaws in the layout. I believe the guards will be quite pleased with these. They don’t often use the spear in combat, but I suspect that will change once they have these in their hands.
They’re just too good to keep for ceremonial purposes."
Tian nodded. "If you’re going to buy the best stuff for them they’ll definitely use it. Those spears will make it so much easier for them to function in combat, since the skill that it buffs the most is so mana efficient. But it also helps ALL their holy element abilities, so it’s just generally good."
"Now, how long will it take you to make the others?"
Rue shrugged. "We’ve got the metal ready, we just need to shape them, and then enchant them. So about the same as this one, but without the wait for the metal to liquify."
Eryman chuckled as he looked at the forge. "You know, there are guilds who would cry tears of agony to see so much Supreme Ranked metal in the forge at once. That much wealth is more than some small clans call their warehouse stockpile.
If I didn’t have Legendary materials to trade, I suspect that this might clean me out."
Tian smiled happily. "Look at it this way. We’re only charging the Epic Grade price, but they’re halfway to Peerless, so you might be spending a lot, but you’re getting a great deal.
Saving money.
Everyone likes saving money, right?"
Eryman wasn’t sure that was how it worked. No matter how good of a deal you got, if you spent a fortune, you spent a fortune. It was just that sometimes it was worth it.
"Well, if you’re going to put it that way, why don’t you make a twenty first spear, so I can match with my guardsmen?"
They really were that good, though he had a Legendary weapon as a primary.
"Oh, that’s wonderful news. Odd numbers are good luck."
Cara nodded along with Tian’s insistence, and Eryman began to wonder if she was just here because her presence messed with him and kept him guessing what she was up to, or whether she had something big planned for him.
A Chaos Badger never did anything without some sort of reasoning behind it. Even if that reasoning was just to see if something fun happened.
So, showing up here, where she knew what was happening, was highly suspicious.
And Cara was loving it.
But she had come here for a reason, beyond showing the Legend where to get fancy new poking sticks. Opal had sensed romance in the air, and the personal guards needed to be separated from the Legend,
As long as she was standing here, being suspicious, he wouldn’t go looking for them, and things would have time to play out.
Either for better or for worse.
Being here wasn’t all bad, though. The Lycans were fun to watch, and they got so into their work that their ears twitched and showed every thought passing through their minds, even though they never said a word to each other.
It was almost a form of sign language, except that they were not fully aware that they were doing it.
