The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 2088: A Holy Spear

Eryman followed Rue and Tian into the upper level, and then to the side room where the forge was laid out.

Much to his surprise, they were not alone, and they weren’t the only ones using advance smithy techniques. There were four Lycans in the forge, creating weapons for the daily supply quota, but curiously, only three of them were finishing the weapons.

"What is is that the last one there is doing? He’s clearly an Elder, but he’s leaving the items incomplete," Eryman asked.

"Oh, that. He’s making weapon blanks for the Runemasters to finish. It’s easier for them to upgrade the weapon to Epic or Peerless Grade with runes built on a quality base than it is for a smith to turn out a Peerless Grade weapon on pure skill.

So, one person a day does the blanks. There will be someone doing the same for wooden and stone items as well, over in the carving shop," Tian explained helpfully.

"You don’t keep that a secret?"

"You look like the sort that can afford to buy more than one batch of spears."

Eryman laughed and nodded his head. "You have a point there. I can afford to buy more than just one batch of spears, and now that I know you can supply such high quality items without gouging me for specific materials, I certainly will."

Tian gave his best offended look. "We don’t gouge. It’s just that we run out of some things. But with Runemasters on the staff, we don’t need as many as most do. Some are still necessary, and we will ask for them if they’re needed, but mostly we just accept anything that is useful.

If we don’t use it for your item, we’ll use it elsewhere, and their trades will go to another. It’s a constant supply circle, and it only runs into hiccups when we need too much of the same thing.

Like this holy ore. We’ve got quite a bit, enough to make all the spears without issue. But if you wanted a full suit of armour for everyone? We might need to ask that you go get more of it for us."

"Ah, I see how it is. So, if they’re not picky about the materials, and they don’t need a specific element it’s easier?"

Tian nodded. "And if they don’t need it to be supreme or store mana. Those ones are hardest for me. I can do Immortal Rank items mostly with [Earth Manipulation] and some elemental materials to make the alloy.

But I’m not Supreme Ranked yet, I’m just a baby fox.

Give me some time and I’m sure that I’ll be able to do it, and then we can make your team even better stuff."

That made Eryman laugh. Better than Epic Grade Supreme Ranked weapons? Could he even afford that? Just getting the materials would be a nightmare. Finding a full group of Legends to do anything was nearly impossible on this world, there weren’t enough for five or ten to be idle at once.

Plus, they had an all taken on far too many responsibilities, and had mostly given up on the search for Divinity. Eryman was still on the path, but very few of the others were.

They had decided that a few millennia as a Legend wouldn’t hurt anything, and that few millennia had turned into stagnation. Now, even if they started over, it would take them hundreds of years to really build momentum.

"Well, I will keep that in mind for after you advance. I’ve got time."

That made Tian giggle, while Rue patted him on the head.

"Get the metals in the forge, and let’s get started on the alloy. It will take some time to be ready, and we can prepare the runes to add the bonuses while we wait. That way, there won’t be a delay."

Tian nodded, and turned to Eryman.

"Can you read the ancient Runic languages? If you can, you can proofread our work. If not, we just go over it ourselves one final time before we inlay it on the weapon. We haven’t had one fail in a while, but you never know."

The pair fell silent as they began to sketch, each working on a different section, as they had done a hundred times before. It was a well practiced, and once they got close to finished, they set the sections together, and began stitching them with the runes that made everything synchronize.

Then, they reshaped it to work with the spear shape, and ran over the runes again to make sure that they worked as intended.

Eryman watched in silence, wondering what runic language they were using.

It almost looked like old Dwarven, but there were too many unknown runes in the mix. So, it was not Dwarves Forge Runes, but perhaps something that had come before them? Certainly, they couldn’t mean that it was really one of the Ancient Runic Languages, the ones used by the Ancient Species of the Creators’ Pantheon to build entire worlds?

Karl was an avatar of the World Dragon, so it wasn’t impossible. But those runes were usually withheld for only the most powerful and favoured of the Immortals, the ones who had a true shot at becoming a Demigod, or who had a bit of blood from the Ancients themselves.

Rue nodded in satisfaction, and explained things to the Legend. "Alright, it looks good. We will make the first one, and ensure that it actually does what it’s supposed to before we make the others.

If it falls short, we can just slag it down into ore and alter the runes."

The molten ores were stirred together and alloyed using [Earth Manipulation] to trigger the chemical bonding, and then shaped flawlessly into the shape of the spear by Tian.

Then, Rue created a floating copy of the runes, and inlaid them all on the weapon in one smooth motion, while Tian blessed it as a Holy Weapon.

{Item Created} Defenders Spear of Justice. Supreme Rank, Epic Grade Holy Weapon. Becomes Peerless Grade in the hands of one Devout in their Faith to the God of Justice. Increases the effect of [Holy Light] by 300 Percent of Spell Power, Increases all Holy Effects by 50 Percent. Adds 150 percent of base damage as Holy Element Damage when attacking. Deals 50 Percent less damage to Holy Element beings.

"One Holy Spear. What do you think?"
