I watched the shadow guards take down all the people around us and drag them away.

Then, we heard another voice.

"Hey! What do you think you’re doing?"

Luna and I both looked in the direction the voice came from and saw the city guards arriving.

Luna looked at me with a dumbfounded expression.

I watched her cold expression go through several different changes before finally settling on a dumbfounded look.

Enjoying her expression, I smiled at her.

"Let me handle it."

I stepped forward and looked at the city guards.

"What can I do for you?"

The guards glared at us.

"You ask what we can do for you?"

"What do you think this is? This is Goldpine City, not somewhere you can run wild! What do you think you’re doing to those men?"

I just shrugged.

"Disposed of them. Why? Do you want to get in our way? If so, try."

One of the shadow guards released his S-Rank Aura.

I continued, "You keep bragging about this being your city, but when they came to rob us, where were you? Napping or something?"

"Huh? Now that everything is done, don’t come here and preach to us. We don’t give a shit."

The guards’ faces turned pale with anger, but they didn’t dare do anything because they knew they couldn’t win against us.

One of the guards finally spoke up.

"If they tried to rob you, isn’t that a bit much? As for our intervention, we’re not omniscient. We can’t possibly know everything happening in the city, kid."

I looked directly at him and said, "So that’s our problem, huh? We don’t care about those things, but that guy tried to grab her and talked about human trafficking. We gave him a warning, which was already more than he deserved."

"It’s not our problem that he didn’t listen. You should be glad we didn’t kill all of them."

The guard frowned. My statement clearly highlighted his incompetence. Someone in his city had tried to kidnap a person and sell her into slavery, yet the authorities only showed up after we took action.

He looked down for a moment before looking directly at me.

"It’s reasonable to protect yourself, but that young lady’s last command was to cripple him by freezing him. Isn’t that a bit too much?"

I laughed.

"Oh, now you say that if we’re powerful, we can defend ourselves and nothing more. But what if we’re weak? What if those pieces of trash come along, kidnap her, and sell her at a slave market?"

My eyes darkened, and the coldness returned to them.

"Judging by their actions, this isn’t the first time they’ve done something like this. So, tell me, where was your so-called authority when those innocent people were captured and sold into slavery?"

His eyes darkened as well, and he replied, "Listen, kid. You don’t know what you’re talking about. We do our best."

I laughed again.

"Oh, you do your best? Then your best isn’t enough, right? So don’t try to meddle with us."

I took Luna’s hand.

"Let’s go, Luna. It’s useless talking to them."

She looked at me for a little too long before nodding.

The guard spoke up again.

"Hey, kid! Don’t think you’re something special. I know your kind. You must be some noble brat hiding behind your family name."

I just waved a hand.

"Think whatever you want. I don’t care. As for what I told you earlier, I meant it. You can’t do your job properly, so don’t interfere with us."

Then, we left them behind with my final words ringing in their ears.

"We don’t care about the lackeys. You can take them if you want. We have a problem with the leader, though."

After that, we continued our journey as the shadow guards returned to us.

I looked at Luna.

"You handled that situation amazingly."

She smiled and nodded.

"Let’s just forget about those insignificant people."

I nodded.

As for those guards, I didn’t give a flying shit about them. I didn’t care whether they did their jobs honestly or were just another group of corrupt officials. If they got in my way, then we would have a problem.

We looked around the city a little longer before finally deciding to leave.

However, we noticed a carriage heading toward our destination.

I looked at Luna.

"How about we take it and travel by carriage?"

She looked at it and nodded.

So, we both approached it, and I asked the owner, "Is this going to the Frostvale territory?"

The owner of the carriage nodded.

"Yes, we’re leaving in a few minutes. Do you two want to join us?"

I nodded.

"Yes. How much per person?"

He nodded and said, "Five silver coins per person."

I nodded and asked, "Do you accept credit?"

He nodded, so I transferred a thousand credits.

He nodded and said, "Okay, get on."

I nodded as well and got into the carriage with Luna.

Then, I took out two bottles of orange juice and gave one to her.

Throughout the journey, we talked to each other. However, at some point, the person sitting beside us began observing us curiously.

We didn’t pay her any attention. We were absorbed in our own world and didn’t notice anything.

Luna told me what she planned to do when she finally saw the snow. I listened patiently to her ridiculous ideas and added a few of my own.

Then, the stranger sitting in the carriage spoke up.

"You two adventurers?"

We looked at her and shook our heads.

"No, we’re just travelers."

She smiled and nodded before falling silent again.

Luna and I continued our conversation.

Then, Luna yawned.

I looked at her in confusion.

"Ah? Didn’t you sleep like a log last night? I even had to wake you up in the morning."

She glared at me.

"That’s the reason you woke me up in the morning and interrupted my sleep!"

I looked at her with wide eyes.

"Ah, now it’s my fault?"

She nodded as if it were a matter of fact.

"Of course, it’s your fault!"

If she wanted to, she could use her mana or Element to get rid of her sleepiness, but she wouldn’t bother doing that.

I thought for a long time before coming up with an amazing idea. I took out a pillow and gave it to her.

"Here, take a small nap. I’ll stand guard and won’t let any sound disturb your sleep."

Her eyes brightened, and she nodded.

The woman sitting beside us looked at us in amazement.

"Ah, young man, that’s quite a promise."

I just nodded.

"It’s no big deal for me."

I gave Luna the pillow and created a Space Barrier around her so she could sleep without hearing any sounds whatsoever.

The carriage still had a long way to go, so she accepted my offer, placed the pillow behind her head, and closed her eyes.

Her cloak revealed her face, and the woman sitting beside me looked at her with wide eyes.

"Oh, what a beautiful child! She’s so cute!"

I just made sure Luna was comfortable as I used my Space Barrier to create another barrier around her, ensuring that nothing could disturb her.

Luna fell into a peaceful nap, her face serene.

The other woman traveling with us stared at her face as if she were love-struck.

She muttered, "Ah, if only I had such a cute and adorable daughter."

I almost choked.

What’s this woman up to now?

But before I could speak, another voice rang out.

"Master, what are you up to now? Isn’t having me enough for you?"

The woman looked at the speaker and said, "You... No, you’re always working! You never have time to show your cuteness."

Her disciple’s eyes twitched as she listened to her master’s words.

I looked at the master-and-disciple duo with amusement and asked, "Ah, so you’re some kind of master? What do you teach?"

The woman looked at me and said, "Oh, me? I teach magic. Do you want to become my disciple too? Come with that girl. I’ll accept you even if you don’t have any talent."

My eyes twitched.

Ah, Luna’s face is too powerful!

But I refused her offer.

"No, thanks. We’re good. We experiment and create things ourselves. We don’t need to learn from others."

Her eyes twitched.

"Hey, do you even know who I am? People practically beg to become my students!"

I just shrugged.

"So what? They beg for it. I’ve never begged anyone for anything."

A black line appeared on her forehead.

"You stinky, arrogant brat!"

I just looked at her with amusement.

"Yes, old lady? What is it?"

The black line on her forehead throbbed.

"What did you call me, you stinky brat?"

I just yawned and said, "An old lady. Isn’t that what you are?"

Her disciple covered her mouth and laughed.

"Master, he has a point."
