Chapter 2411: The insidious might of the Power of Chaos
Mirena’s breathing was ragged as she returned to the Ocean of the Blood Sun, and the deep frown on her face made it clear that she had failed to kill Airi. Still, the Royal Blutlinie did not return empty-handed.
She carried something in her grasp—an amputated leg—proof that the chase had not been in vain.
As soon as the Royal Blutlinie hovered above the blood ocean once more, a complicated expression surfaced on her face.
Cain had not been wrong in his assessment. Those of the Aztorus Kingdom intended to use him and discard him once the war ended—or the moment he lost his strategic value.
To them, he was nothing more than a tool, meant to be treated as such. His ideas, his plans, his input, none of that should have value.
Yet Mirena could not deny the conflict stirring in her heart.
The Blood King possessed an intelligence and strategic insight far beyond what she had initially expected. Following his guidance, the very first major clash above the Ocean of the Blood Sun between the Aztorus Kingdom and the Kalous Kingdom had ended in a massive victory.
Thousands of Prima Deities had been butchered. Dozens of ArchDeities had fallen. One Alpha–Omega Overgod Royal Blutlinie had been killed outright, and another—Airi—had been crippled.
The war between the two kingdoms had already dragged on for more than fifty years, and the number of Royal Blutlinie the Aztorus Kingdom managed to kill could be counted on the fingers of one hand.
Yet, the Blood King manages to take the life of two—Kameron and Kantun—and help in the main of another.
This outcome was nothing short of extraordinary.
And Mirena would benefit from it immensely.
After all, it had been her idea to use the Ocean of the Blood Sun as the battlefield.
"I can even present this trap as my own plan," she thought, a flicker of thrill running through her chest. "I can take full credit for the victory when I return."
The thought was tempting—but she did not allow it to distract her.
A dangerous light appeared in Mirena’s eyes as she considered how to proceed with her alliance with the Blood King. Using him merely as a disposable tool, while disregarding his true worth, would be an unforgivable waste.
After a brief moment of reflection, she nodded to herself and released the severed leg into the blood ocean.
Although it was only a limb, it had belonged to a Middle Alpha–Omega Overgod. The vitality and energy contained within it were staggering, not to mention the natural runes etched into the flesh—manifestations of Airi’s Omens.
The Ocean of the Blood Sun reacted instantly.
The crimson waves surged upward, consuming the leg in moments. The blood churned violently until nothing remained.
The next second, a blood humanoid rose from the ocean’s surface and performed a small bow toward Mirena.
"A good snack," it said calmly. "Thank you."
Mirena nodded, meeting the hollow gaze of the blood humanoid, a faint smile forming on her lips.
"That is what allies are for."
Her expression soon grew serious as she shifted to a more important matter.
"That enhancement you granted earlier," she said. "It was extremely powerful. How long can you maintain it?"
The blood humanoid appeared thoughtful for a moment before responding.
"If it is focused on a single person, I can maintain it for thirty minutes. However, I can divide the power—granting the same boost to ten individuals for three minutes."
Mirena’s eyes widened.
Shock and excitement flared within them as she grasped the implications. That ability was extraordinary—an overwhelming trump card capable of empowering elite units at precisely the right moment.
The blood humanoid showed no reaction, but deep within the ocean, Cain nearly laughed at her expression.
Those limitations were absolute lies.
He had maintained the enhancement on Satan and Hades for hours without difficulty. But deception was a necessary part of the plan.
"The stronger I become," the blood humanoid continued, "the longer I can maintain the enhancement. However, it only functions within the Ocean of the Blood Sun. Once you leave my domain, I cannot sustain the connection."
Mirena nodded immediately, accepting the explanation without hesitation.
A spiritual connection capable of channeling such immense power would naturally be difficult to maintain. It made sense that the Blood King could only do so within the ocean itself.
Once again, that was a lie.
With the Power of Chaos and the Flow, Cain could maintain a stable connection with anyone within the same universe, regardless of distance. But perceived flaws and limitations were precisely what he needed to convey.
Mirena now fully understood the value of the Ocean of the Blood Sun’s enhancement.
She and Airi had clashed countless times in the past. Even when she had caught her rival exhausted, it was only after receiving the Blood King’s enhancement that she had been able to land such a crippling blow.
"You grow larger and stronger by consuming Blutlinie and Omen Beasts," Mirena said thoughtfully. "Do treasures with high vitality or blood affinity benefit you as well?"
The blood puppet appeared contemplative, but within Cain’s soul, cold thrill surged.
Everything was proceeding exactly as planned.
Mirena was not foolish—far from it. She was exceptionally sharp. But the Power of Chaos was insidious. She had allowed it to enter her, and even though she could no longer sense it, its influence had already imprinted itself upon her soul, subtly weakening her doubt and suspicion toward Cain.
"They should help," the blood humanoid replied. "However, living beings remain the best sources. They allow me to grow the fastest."
Mirena nodded. After a brief pause, she spoke again.
"My forces will assist you in hunting Omen Beasts. I will also ensure that large quantities of suitable treasures are delivered to aid your growth."
The mentality of the Royal Blutlinie was simple.
The larger and stronger the Ocean of the Blood Sun became, the more territory it could control—tightening the chokehold around Kalous City and accelerating the kingdom’s downfall.
