Chapter 616: Chapter 335: The Evil God Descends in Person

He had already offended so many people anyway. Adding one or two more wouldn’t hurt. No matter how strong these people were, they couldn’t affect his path to becoming an Immortal. Besides, most of the time, he stayed within the Sect anyway, making it even less of a concern.

Thus, Ren Qian directly handed Jiang Man one million Spiritual Sources.

"Junior Brother, if you need to buy anything, just come to me directly," Ren Qian said.

Looking at the Spiritual Sources, Jiang Man felt they were incredibly heavy for a moment. With this, he now had 1.1 million Spiritual Sources. How should he spend them?

Afterward, Ren Qian began leading his men to scout the karst cave, while Jiang Man found a spot to focus on his Cultivation. He was currently accumulating his third Gourd of Cultivation. It was already sixty percent full and would be completely filled by the end of this month. Once that happened, he could consider whether to advance.

Seven days later.

Ren Qian and the others started scouting the surroundings of the Lingyue Sect.

Jiang Man remained in the karst cave. Through the Evil God’s Technique, he sensed the aura of an Array slowly extending around him. The entity was still there, operating in the shadows. He went over to touch the hidden Array, hoping to find some clues.

[A new type of Array used to truly seal this place. It combines traditional Arrays with an independent system formed by the structure of a special creature. The system is outstanding, but heavily restricted. Its upper limit hasn’t improved much, making it barely worth mentioning.]

Reading the text, Jiang Man was slightly surprised. To think they were sealing this place. Why?

Jiang Man observed the runes on the stone wall and figured that the entity might have come for this. Perhaps the final moment would arrive when the Array completely covered the wall. The Array was extending stealthily and slowly, likely out of fear of being discovered. The only reason Jiang Man could detect it now was because he relied on the Evil God’s Technique.

For a moment, he didn’t know how to explain this to Ren Qian and the others.

After a brief silence, Jiang Man walked over to the damaged section of the stone wall and touched it.

The Celestial Mirror Hundred Books reacted.

[A Supreme Skill that has been intentionally pried open and destroyed.]

It was intentional, just as he had expected.

Jiang Man felt that the master of the Array had practiced this technique before, but their version was incomplete. He quickly searched the area, constantly feeling around the stone to see if there were any crucial spots. Unfortunately, the Celestial Mirror Hundred Books didn’t specify which part was important.

Left with no other choice, he randomly picked a section that hadn’t been covered yet, then used a Magic Skill to cut and pry it off. Everything went relatively smoothly. He then tossed the stone into his Storage Treasure and ignored how the Array continued to spread.

Ren Qian and the others were too busy to inspect this area, so he didn’t bother explaining. He would deal with it when it was inevitably discovered. Afterward, he resumed his Cultivation, taking the opportunity to study the Array on the side. Since it was an Array worth mentioning, it naturally possessed its own unique profundities.

Another seven days passed.

Ren Qian and his team began setting up their own Arrays, announcing that the area was going to be locked down because an Evil God was about to set foot here.

"The situation is more severe than anticipated. They have already taken something from this place, yet they still intend to come in person. It seems this Sword Tomb is far too special," Ren Qian said, genuinely caught off guard. He quickly offered some reassurance. "Don’t worry, our reinforcements are arriving soon. Right now, we just need to ensure the area isn’t completely sealed off."

Jiang Man nodded, but he was secretly stunned. An Evil God was actually coming here in person for the Supreme Skill? If the entity truly arrived and found that he had taken that piece of stone, wouldn’t he be courting death?

Without a second’s hesitation, Jiang Man summoned the Seven-Colored Bird before the area could be sealed. He placed the stone into the bird’s Storage Treasure and told it to fly away. In his letter, he didn’t dare mention that the Array had reached the stone wall. He only wrote that he had secretly dug out a piece and wanted Miss Ji Meng to study it.

Watching the Seven-Colored Bird disappear, Jiang Man let out a heavy sigh of relief. This matter had nothing to do with him anymore. If the entity wanted to search for it, they could go look for Miss Ji Meng. If they actually went after her, would that count as him completing his mission? Did he just find an Evil God with an exceptionally good Array for Miss Ji Meng?

Jiang Man didn’t dwell on it and went back to his Cultivation.

By now, he could feel a stifling aura in the air. A massive battle seemed on the verge of breaking out. This was especially true inside the karst cave, where the Array had already covered more than half the area. The enemy was arriving soon.

Jiang Man only hoped the entity would take their time, as Ting Fengyin would be arriving soon. Once Ting Fengyin got here, everything would be fine. Even though Ting Fengyin had a tendency to go crazy, they truly provided a sense of security when facing the terrifying might of an Evil God.

Late June.

With only a few days left until July, Ren Qian sought out Jiang Man.

"Junior Brother, the shelter is ready. You need to go hide," Ren Qian said.

Jiang Man was somewhat surprised that they had actually built a shelter.

"Also, Junior Brother, I have a task for you. With so many mixed people here, we can’t be sure if there are any Evil God spies planted inside the shelter. I need you to keep an eye on things," Ren Qian added.

Jiang Man gladly agreed, though he was curious about the situation outside.

"Our area has been completely locked down. This Evil God is outrageously bold; they are dead set on coming here in person," Ren Qian said, frowning slightly. "I don’t know how much they’ve recovered, but the moment they step foot here, a huge battle will break out. You all just need to lay low. Don’t worry too much, the collateral damage won’t reach your side."

Jiang Man figured the entity was taking this risk solely for the Supreme Skill. Obtaining the token wasn’t enough; they wanted the complete Supreme Skill. The originally missing piece was likely already in their hands.

Following that, Jiang Man left the Sword Tomb. Ren Qian noticed the missing chunk on the stone wall but chose not to ask any questions.

Stepping outside the Sword Tomb, Jiang Man realized that a massive number of Sect members had arrived.

"It’s the first time we’ve seen an Evil God take such an aggressive stance, so we naturally made extra preparations," Ren Qian explained.

In the past, no one had ever dared to so forcefully intrude upon a territory governed by the Immortal Sect. The fact that this entity was acting so brazenly proved they were a tough nut to crack.

Jiang Man then headed into the newly excavated cave. Zhuo Qingcheng and the others were already inside.

"Senior Brother, what happened?" Zhuo Qingcheng and the rest immediately asked.

The Sect Leader and the Young Sect Leader were also among them. These people lacked both the Cultivation and the status to be informed about an Evil God arriving in person.

Jiang Man replied calmly, "It’s nothing. It’s related to an Evil God, so we just need to hide here. The Sect has sent plenty of people to handle it."

Pausing for a moment, Jiang Man instructed Zhuo Qingcheng and her peers to keep a close eye on everyone in the cave. If anyone acted suspiciously, they were to restrain them immediately. Subdue them first, ask questions later.

Zhuo Qingcheng and the others were still anxious, having seen the massive influx of Sect experts. The Sect Leader was even more terrified. Out of all those powerhouses outside, any random one they picked was stronger than everyone here combined. Just what exactly were they bracing themselves for? Thank goodness they had been recruited early on. Otherwise, they would have been the ones facing these incoming unparalleled experts on their own, and survival would have been anything but guaranteed.

What followed was a long, agonizing wait.

Early July.

They felt the atmosphere inside the cave growing increasingly stifling. It wasn’t caused by anyone inside, but rather a power seeping in from the outside. Even with numerous Magical Treasures suppressing the area, they couldn’t block out this oppressive tension.

Jiang Man felt it was somewhat similar to the Ancient Well Type Evil God. He recalled the Array on the stone wall. Judging by its previous speed of expansion, it was just about time.

Sure enough, that afternoon, the earth suddenly trembled.

RUMBLE!

The entire cave began to violently shake. This was immediately followed by fluctuations of immense power. Everyone sensed an apocalyptic force slamming into the exterior of the mountain. The walls felt like they could collapse at any second. They felt as though they would be swallowed by this tidal wave of power at any moment.

Jiang Man instantly activated the coordinates for his small courtyard back at the Wuyun Sect. The second this place was breached, he would flee immediately. He just wasn’t sure if he could bring anyone else along with him. He could only try. There was nothing more he could do.

The situation this time was highly unusual. He had even started circulating the Evil God’s Technique to call out Ting Fengyin’s name, but there was no response. This meant the enemy wasn’t powerful enough to trigger a reaction.

"Senior Brother, is this place going to collapse?" Han Meixue asked, her face pale. It was her first time experiencing such terrifying power. It also made her realize just how incredibly strong the Sect truly was.

The Sect Leader could barely stand. "Senior, you must save us! From now on, our Lingyue Sect will follow the grand Sect with all our hearts! We won’t dare have any second thoughts!"

"Don’t panic. The Sect has already made flawless preparations," Jiang Man reassured them.

In truth, he was quite worried himself. It was already July, yet Ting Fengyin still hadn’t shown up. It was too slow. Ultimately, he was still too weak. These Evil Gods just weren’t giving him the time to grow.

Sima Xuan had been right before. Youth was the greatest advantage of an Unparalleled Celestial Pride, but it was also their greatest weakness. Because there was never enough time, and those ancient powerhouses who had lived through countless eras were not going to sit around and wait for you to mature.

Meanwhile, at the Wuyun Sect.

The Old Yellow Ox, who had been grazing outside, suddenly glanced toward the house.

"Brother Niu, what’s wrong?" asked Tengu, who was busy watering the plants.

"I’m going inside to check. You stay out here," the Old Yellow Ox said.

It then entered the house and walked into Jiang Man’s bedroom. Staring at the floor, it remained silent for a moment. It knew that Jiang Man had encountered a massive crisis.

Thus, it simply waited right there.
