Chapter 615: Chapter 335: The Evil God Arrives in Person

[Author’s Note: I haven’t proofread this yet as I’ve been a bit busy.]

————

June 1st.

Jiang Man had been staying inside the Sword Tomb.

He might have appeared perfectly composed along the way, laughing and chatting effortlessly in front of the others, but in reality, his internal organs throbbed with a dull ache. The residual external forces in his meridians were still slowly eroding his body. With every breath, a blunt pain radiated from deep within his chest, as if something were churning inside. His internal organs felt like they were about to explode.

Those people were truly powerful. Had it not been for the massive advantage of the Evil God’s Technique, he wouldn’t have stood a chance against them. Furthermore, in such a high-intensity battle, the Evil God’s Technique depleted his energy rapidly, and his Physical Body simply couldn’t keep up with the circulation of that power.

Fortunately, his Primordial Spirit was at a high enough level to forcefully sustain him; otherwise, he would have collapsed long ago. The reason he hadn’t left the tomb was that he needed to stay and nurse his injuries.

If those people had possessed just a few more tricks up their sleeves, it was anyone’s guess who would have walked away alive.

He should have been the stronger one, but his control over the power of the Returning Void was noticeably lacking. This was primarily because, at his core, he was still a Primordial Spirit Cultivator. His mastery over power remained at the Primordial Spirit stage. Perhaps it would improve once he broke through again.

The situation would have been much better if not for that inexplicably sudden power Attack. However, how could an Unparalleled Celestial Pride ever show weakness in front of others?

"What a pity," Jiang Man murmured, feeling a twinge of regret as he recalled the previous events.

Two of them had managed to escape. He wondered if he could have forced them to stay at the time. Among those two, at least one was a wanted fugitive.

That was a massive sum of money. Of the five who died, only four had bounties, each worth two hundred and fifty thousand. That was only a million in total. He took a massive loss this time.

However, this also served as a wake-up call. With his current strength, attempting to kill the Bai Family Ancestor would be virtually impossible. The opponent’s mastery of power and their myriad of methods made them far too difficult to assassinate.

Although his injuries had fully healed by now, he still couldn’t leave. He needed to wait for the people from the Law Enforcement Hall to arrive. Additionally, due to the unexpected incident, the handover and training had been delayed. Going back in July was likely out of the question.

Then there was the matter of that peculiar Array Pattern. Jiang Man noticed that the Array Pattern in the Sword Tomb was still extending. Did the opponent still plan on doing something here? He had tested it, but this Array was far too profound for him to trace back to its source. Now, he could only wait for the Law Enforcement Hall members to come and see if they could find any clues.

All he could do was report the issue and focus on improving his Cultivation.

In the meantime, he decided to inspect the items left behind by the two who fled. Neither of them had been honest. He glanced through their so-called massive hoard of resources, only to find a bunch of ancient artifacts. At most, they were worth fifty thousand. There were quite a few bizarre oddities in the pile, and he had hoped to find a hidden treasure among them. As it turned out, there was no hidden treasure to be found. They were all worthless trinkets.

As for Spiritual Sources, there were a hundred thousand of them. Added together, this supposed "massive hoard" amounted to a mere one hundred and fifty thousand Spiritual Sources. Compared to their actual net worth, it was a far cry.

Furthermore, the information recorded in that book was extremely limited. It only mentioned that a token might exist here, one capable of summoning an ancient relic. Gaining the recognition of that relic would bless one with profound karmic luck, paving the way for a much brighter future. However, this ancient relic drifted aimlessly through heaven and earth; its location was impossible to pin down, let alone capture. That was the gist of the contents.

Jiang Man felt a pang of regret that he hadn’t been able to get his hands on it. As for whether he could eventually obtain it, he didn’t dwell on it too much. He already possessed enough resources; having one more ancient relic or one less would make little difference on his path to growing stronger. True strength did not rely on such things anyway.

Casting these thoughts aside, Jiang Man stepped into the hidden area. He had noticed this area earlier but hadn’t been able to enter. Once the items were gone, the barrier had lifted, allowing him inside.

Inside was a vast, empty limestone cave. In the center sat a stone bearing a distinct indentation. Something must have been placed here previously. Perhaps it was the so-called token.

The walls of the cave were densely carved with countless symbols. Jiang Man touched the walls using the Celestial Mirror Hundred Books. The conclusion he drew was:

[A Supreme Skill that has been ruined due to the damaged stone wall.]

Jiang Man was astonished when he identified this. This proved that this Supreme Skill was entirely extraordinary; if it hadn’t been damaged, it most likely would have been recorded as well. He wondered if a Cultivation Skill could be recorded too, or if a Supreme Skill wasn’t considered a Cultivation Skill at all.

Jiang Man wasn’t certain. However, the stone wall was undeniably damaged with several pieces missing. If he wanted to restore it to advance his Cultivation, he would have to find those missing stones. As for how to find them, he had absolutely no idea.

He investigated the area once more, but as expected, he found nothing else. With no other options, he could only focus on his Cultivation for now.

Three days later. ℴ

Ren Qian and the others arrived. They went to see Jiang Man immediately.

"Tell me about what you discovered, Junior Brother," Ren Qian said directly.

As for the wanted fugitives, they could discuss that later. It was important to distinguish priorities. Moreover, on their way here, they sensed something peculiar about this mountain range. The situation was not optimistic.

Jiang Man hid absolutely nothing, detailing all his discoveries in the tomb to them. However, he only spoke of things after the items had vanished. He had no way of explaining what had happened prior to their disappearance, so he could only claim he hadn’t noticed anything until then.

Inside the limestone cave, Ren Qian frowned as he surveyed the surrounding Array Patterns and runes. He had never seen these things before.

After gaining a general understanding of the situation, Ren Qian inquired about the wanted fugitives.

He hesitated for a moment before saying, "This matter isn’t a big deal to the Sect. After all, it doesn’t matter who claims the bounty as long as there are no disputes.

"However, there is a massive issue with this situation. There were seven people in total, yet only five died. That means enemies were allowed to escape.

"By accepting the reward, Junior Brother, you have also taken on their enmity. This will become a major problem in the future."

Jiang Man smiled faintly. "Rest assured, Senior Brother. It won’t be much of a problem."
