The End of the Immortal Path
Chapter 614 - 334: That’s Right, I Killed Them All
Chapter 614: Chapter 334: That’s Right, I Killed Them All
"Someone stole whatever was here. I’m not sure what it was," Jiang Man replied truthfully.
It was normal that they couldn’t find it; after all, such an ancient Array Pattern had appeared. An old monster had likely made a move. The previous Attack, in particular, proved that the opponent’s methods were extraordinarily powerful.
"Let’s go take a look outside first," Jiang Man said.
Outside, the fluctuations of power had caused massive destruction, ruining a large swath of the mountain forest. This, too, was a huge loss.
Soon, the Young Sect Leader announced a discovery. Jiang Man and the others followed him over.
Upon arriving, Jiang Man felt a bit awkward inwardly, as they had come exactly to the spot where he had just fought.
"We found a few corpses and traces of a battle. A fierce fight just took place here, and the commotion was massive," the Young Sect Leader said.
"Who fought here? And why?" Han Meixue asked. With such a huge disturbance, weren’t they afraid of drawing the Wuyun Sect’s attention? Especially right after obtaining that beam of power. These people were truly audacious.
Jiang Man said calmly, "It is indeed bizarre." They could think whatever they wanted; it had nothing to do with him anyway.
The Young Sect Leader examined the faces of the corpses and quickly recognized some of them as the people who had appeared earlier. Zhuo Qingcheng also observed them carefully and discovered in surprise, "They are traitors to the Sect. And they’re on the wanted list."
"Wanted list?" Jiang Man asked, a bit curious. "What wanted list?"
Zhuo Qingcheng explained, "The Sect has placed bounties on them. Providing information is worth a hundred thousand Spiritual Sources, confirming their location is a hundred and fifty thousand, killing them is three hundred thousand, and capturing them alive is five hundred thousand."
Jiang Man froze for a moment, then looked at Han Meixue. "What did you just ask, Junior Sister?"
Han Meixue looked blank, then repeated, "Who fought here? And why?"
Jiang Man nodded and said, "Originally, I didn’t want to cause trouble, but since the situation is so troublesome, I’ll tell the truth.
"I was the one fighting them here. My purpose was to personally execute these traitors for the Sect."
Hearing this, everyone turned to look at Jiang Man in unison. For a moment, the air seemed to freeze. Even He Que, who was recording everything, couldn’t help but pause.
"Why are you looking at me? I am a legend of the Sect, a chosen one of heaven, invincible in the Same Tier, and a powerhouse who can fight above his level. Is it unreasonable for me to kill them?" Jiang Man asked.
Zhuo Qingcheng was stunned for a moment, then said, "It is indeed reasonable for you to kill them, Senior Brother, but you were just in the Sword Tomb."
"I initially fought them outside. Only after killing them did I go back to check the Sword Tomb," Jiang Man stated matter-of-factly.
Zhuo Qingcheng opened her mouth but ultimately said nothing.
He Que said righteously, "You are falsely claiming credit. The moment you heard there were Spiritual Sources involved, you claimed you killed them. Why didn’t you say so earlier?"
Jiang Man said in all seriousness, "You are the supervisor; you just need to record everything one by one. I am telling the absolute truth.
"I am the one who killed them.
"Keep searching so we don’t miss any, and then see how many of them are wanted criminals."
"Senior Brother, won’t the Sect dispute this?" Han Meixue asked carefully. There was a precedent for this kind of thing.
Jiang Man looked at the crowd calmly and said, "What evidence does the Sect have to prove I didn’t kill them? The parties involved have no objections, so what objections could the Sect, located so far away, possibly have?"
He had killed them; did he still need to provide evidence? Let the Sect provide evidence that he hadn’t killed them.
Han Meixue muttered inwardly. Why did her senior brother always pull stunts like this? Would the Sect start demanding people to provide evidence in the future?
Zhuo Qingcheng pondered for a moment and said, "Senior Brother, there is a small problem with this. If you killed them, the factions behind these people might come after you.
"I’m afraid you might be in considerable danger."
Jiang Man said calmly, "One takes responsibility for one’s own actions. All you need to say is that I killed them single-handedly."
Zhuo Qingcheng froze. She felt her senior brother was overthinking things; they had no intention of taking a share of the credit. How could they even share it? The strength of these people was far beyond what they were capable of killing.
He Que stared fixedly at Jiang Man, feeling that the man before him would do absolutely anything for Spiritual Sources, and then just spend every day in Cultivation.
The Young Sect Leader had no objections, nor did he understand the situation. Anyway, whatever Jiang Man said, went. He only needed to be in charge of looking around. Sure enough, he found another hidden corpse.
After that, it was Zhuo Qingcheng’s turn to identify the bodies and see if they were wanted criminals.
At the Cyan City Sect.
The busy Ren Qian suddenly received a message.
"There’s a powerful aura coming from the direction of the Lingyue Sect, suspected to be an Evil God," Ren Qian said in surprise. "A powerful Evil God aura? And it was directly detected by our Sect?
"It seems the other party struck immediately, taking advantage of the fact that the Immortal Sect’s governance range has only just covered that area.
"What could possibly be over there that’s worth them being in such a hurry?"
He didn’t dare to delay and immediately led his men to rush over.
Moreover, the Lingyue Sect... wasn’t that the Sect Jiang Man had gone to? He had to admit, this junior brother of his really attracted a lot of trouble. Wherever he went, problems followed. For a moment, he couldn’t tell if the Evil Gods were just too active, or if Jiang Man’s constitution was simply too special. He felt that ever since he met Jiang Man, there were Evil God-related incidents everywhere. At the drop of a hat, there would be spies and collusions with Evil Gods.
On the way, he received a message from the Lingyue Sect. It said that some wanted criminals had been found and were then slain after a bitter struggle by Jiang Man, the person in charge of this recruitment expansion. There were four of them in total.
Looking at the list, Ren Qian’s face darkened. Two at the Early Stage of Returning Void, and two at the Mid-stage of Returning Void.
Slain by Jiang Man? Are you kidding me?
The message even stated that the man himself was absolutely certain he had killed them without any outside help.
Ren Qian was speechless. During this recruitment expansion, they were only just discovering that the rules set by the Sect had a lot of loopholes.
