Chapter 556: Chapter 305: Big Shot, Zui Fusheng
Jiang Man shook his head slightly. "I don’t know. The person has already left, so the specifics remain unknown."
Before long, streams of news poured in. They discovered that the situation had reversed. The powerful experts affiliated with the Evil God were fleeing in all directions. As long as they held their ground, the Sect’s reinforcements would arrive shortly.
Having woken up, Zheng Yan and the others also heard the news. Joy washed over their faces.
"Then we will continue to guard this place and wait patiently," Jiang Man said.
As for the disheartened female member of the Demon Race, no one paid her much mind. However, she was somewhat curious. "Did any of the Demon Race manage to escape?"
Hearing this, Jiang Man and the others froze for a moment. They finally realized that her stance was fundamentally different from theirs.
"I’ll ask around for you," Tao He offered.
She nodded.
The next day.
Figures descended from the high sky. The Sect’s reinforcements had arrived.
Three days later, the Arrays were stabilized, and the Demon Race’s uprising was quelled. Five days later, the Sect launched a large-scale search. Ten days later, internal investigations began.
Early April.
Jiang Man and the others were notified to await investigation.
Song Wushuang was puzzled. "Why are we being investigated too?"
"I heard an Evil God landed in our area, and they aren’t sure if we colluded with it," Tao He explained.
Song Wushuang was shocked. "An Evil God?"
Tao He nodded. "Yes. Rumor has it that when we were knocked unconscious earlier, the Evil God descended. It had more than enough time to bewitch people into becoming its subordinates.
"Because it’s a newly emerged Evil God, they have to treat this with the utmost seriousness.
"They want to prevent any unforeseen accidents.
"The countermeasures for an Evil God with subordinates and one without are completely different."
Once they understood the situation, their doubts vanished.
"Should we notify Senior Brother?" Song Wushuang asked.
They then noticed that Jiang Man was still deep in Cultivation. Ever since they woke up, Jiang Man had been cultivating continuously, completely ignoring the matters around them.
In short, if he stopped cultivating, someone might surpass him. His relentless drive made them anxious every day, wondering if someone was about to surpass them, too. The three of them began supervising one another, forbidding anyone from secretly cultivating.
They genuinely admired Jiang Man. Even though he was already so strong, he still worked this hard, refusing to waste a single second.
The next day.
They still had to interrupt Jiang Man’s Cultivation because the investigation was starting today.
Jiang Man was slightly surprised. "How will they investigate?"
"They’ll probably just ask questions." Tao He wasn’t entirely certain either. The investigation methods varied from place to place. It all depended on the examiner they encountered, as everyone had their own way of doing things.
Soon, Jiang Man was greeted by three people: a middle-aged man and two men in their late twenties. None of their Cultivation bases could be seen through, but they were clearly far from weak.
Upon arriving, they introduced themselves. The leading man, named Yang Zhao, was the person in charge of this investigation. He then praised Jiang Man and the others, acknowledging their hard work over the recent period. Without them, this place would have likely fallen. Their contributions had been recorded, and they would naturally receive the appropriate rewards once they returned. The current investigation was purely a safety precaution with no intention to offend.
After finishing his spiel, he finally asked, "Is everyone here?"
Jiang Man nodded politely. "Yes, everyone is here. How will the investigation be conducted?"
Yang Zhao gave a slight nod and pulled out a booklet. "Which one is Tao He?"
"That’s me," Tao He quickly replied.
One of the men beside Yang Zhao spoke up. "Come with me." Tao He was then led away.
Yang Zhao continued, "What about Jiang Man?"
"Me," Jiang Man responded.
Yang Zhao handed the booklet to the other man and instructed, "Wait here." He then turned to Jiang Man. "Let’s go. Come with me. The investigations are conducted separately. I’ll need to question the others later, and you won’t be allowed to see each other until the entire process is over.
"So when you speak, it’s best not to spout nonsense."
He then ordered the remaining man to ensure the rest of the group didn’t converse privately. Once everything was settled, he led Jiang Man away. Jiang Man was rather curious about how this man planned to interrogate him.

On the other side of the Black Spirit Abyss.
Xie Zhixu and the other two, who were originally in the same team as Jiang Man, had regrouped since they were close to one another. The Demon Beasts’ attacks had been far too fierce, naturally forcing the people in the vicinity to band together. While a few areas had indeed been breached, allowing some Demon Beasts to escape, the majority of the perimeter held firm. Their mission was considered a passable success.
"I wonder how Junior Brother Jiang is doing on his end," Xie Zhixu remarked.
Hearing this, the rather aloof Xia Jian asked calmly, "Aren’t you going to look for him?"
Xie Zhixu looked confused. "Why would I look for him? Besides, he never asked me for help. I haven’t sensed him triggering the item I left for him yet.
"I imagine things must be going relatively smoothly on his side.
"Or perhaps he truly is at the Late Stage of Primordial Spirit, and thus didn’t need any help at all."
"I don’t believe he’s at the Late Stage of Primordial Spirit," Xia Jian said coldly, before turning to look at Qin Ge. "Aren’t you going to look for him?"
Qin Ge was covered in numerous injuries, and his usually smooth bald head sported a few fresh cuts. He looked back at Xia Jian. "Weren’t you the one looking for him?"
Xia Jian shook his head. "I’m not looking for him. He and I have no conflict of interest, so why would I seek him out?"
"Then why would I look for him?" Qin Ge shot back.
"Aren’t you Peak Master Bai’s man?"
"I am."
"Then you aren’t going to look for him?"
"I never received any orders to do so, so why should I? Besides, in my current state, it’s entirely uncertain if I could even beat him."
The two of them then turned their gazes toward Xie Zhixu.
The latter shrugged. "This ’looking for him’ you guys are talking about probably isn’t anything good, right? Then it has nothing to do with me. Although someone offered me Spiritual Sources, I refused."
For a moment, the three of them fell into a brief silence.
Xia Jian spoke up slowly. "That makes no sense. Someone specifically assigned this mission to him, definitely with the intent to suppress him. If it isn’t me, and it isn’t you two, then how is that possible?"
"I don’t know if you guys are playing dumb," Qin Ge said casually, "but it’s definitely not me."

Jiang Man followed Senior Brother Yang the entire way.
They were about to reach the forest where the incident had occurred earlier. The area had now returned to a state of calm, especially after the Sect’s personnel had arrived. They had immediately leveled the area to prevent any further accidents. They had also apparently brought back quite a few things. This was all according to the reports, though Jiang Man hadn’t read them closely, as it had nothing to do with him.
As for Mu Kong, he had indeed been taken away. His method of punishment had yet to be decided. It seemed the piece of paper Jiang Man used had taken effect.
However, as they drew closer to the location, Jiang Man couldn’t help but ask curiously, "Does it have to be this far?"
"It does," Yang Zhao said with a slight nod. "Beyond a certain distance, the power relating to the Evil God tends to lose its effectiveness, so coming here is unavoidable.
"I hope Junior Brother doesn’t mind too much.
"This is the only way we can properly conduct the investigation and root out the problematic individuals.
"After all, Junior Brother’s mission here isn’t completely finished yet.
"You wouldn’t want the Evil God to make a comeback, would you?"
Jiang Man nodded without saying much else. However, as he looked at the surrounding vegetation and rocks, he sensed traces of an Array.
"There’s a minor Array here, set up to facilitate the investigation. If Junior Brother notices it, please refrain from destroying it," Yang Zhao said, glancing back at Jiang Man.
Following behind, Jiang Man remained silent.
"In order not to waste time, I’ll go ahead and ask a few questions now." Yang Zhao slowed his pace and looked at Jiang Man. "What is Junior Brother’s Cultivation?"
"Middle Stage of Primordial Spirit," Jiang Man answered truthfully. Lately, he had been focused on his Body Refining Skill, and it was nearing Great Success. Since he had no one to explain it to him, he had to comprehend it entirely on his own, which cost him quite a bit of time.
"What Magic Skills have you learned?" Yang Zhao asked again.
"For Primordial Spirit Skills, I’ve only learned the Thousandfold Thunder and the Celestial Essence Skill," Jiang Man replied.
"What about Arrays?"
"I’ve roughly studied up to the Seventy-Two Books of the Inner Room."
"Based on that, Junior Brother’s Physical Body and Spirit should be quite impressive."
"Yes, my Spirit is already at the Fifth Layer."
"Very impressive. It seems ordinary Cultivators at the Middle Stage of Primordial Spirit are no match for you at all."
At this moment, Jiang Man noticed the Array beginning to seal them in.
Seeing this, Yang Zhao explained, "The Array is sealing to prevent our conversation from leaking. It’s standard procedure."
Jiang Man nodded, offering no further comment.
As they drew closer to the forest and were just about to arrive, Jiang Man could sense the surrounding Array activating completely.
At that point, Yang Zhao stopped in his tracks, turned around, and faced Jiang Man directly. "One final question before the interrogation formally begins. If Junior Brother were to fight with all his might and use all his trump cards, what Realm of Cultivator do you think you could kill? Be bold in your answer, don’t hold back. Although this is an investigation, if you answer well enough, your reward will also increase."
Jiang Man pondered for a moment before replying, "Probably someone at the Late Stage of Primordial Spirit who doesn’t possess a Grand Technique."
Hearing this, Yang Zhao said softly, "That’s good. I am at Primordial Spirit Perfection, and I possess a Grand Technique."
