Chapter 557: Chapter 306: You Lost to a Great Success Body Unparalleled Celestial Pride

Yang Zhao’s voice carried a hint of a smile, yet it was also laced with a chilling intent. Beneath his feet, the vegetation slowly withered away, eroded by the coldness he exuded. It was unable to withstand the faint power radiating from his Primordial Spirit Perfection.

This aura merely hovered in the immediate vicinity, refusing to spread further. An invisible barrier blocked its diffusion.

A gentle breeze swept past, rustling the tips of Jiang Man’s hair. Beneath those strands, his eyes remained as calm as ever. He seemed entirely oblivious to the oppressive aura of power surrounding him.

"Are you going to kill me, Senior Brother?" Jiang Man asked suddenly.

He had sensed a very strange intent, one completely different from any previous assessment. If he wasn’t mistaken, it was killing intent. Aside from the Evil God sleeper agents he encountered during the Immortal Sect Grand Competition, Jiang Man had never sensed killing intent during any other assessment or mission. After all, everyone was just there to pass the tests and earn Spiritual Sources.

No one would recklessly commit murder. Firstly, the Sect would investigate. Secondly, it was too easy to provoke someone with a powerful background.

Therefore, even though the Inner Sect was relatively unrestricted, very few people would slaughter their fellow disciples within the Sect’s territory. Although the Black Spirit Source was located far from the main Sect, it still fell firmly under its jurisdiction. Unless it was a bitter blood feud, not many would willingly drag themselves into such a mess. There were plenty of ways to vent one’s anger, but the price of murder was the heaviest.

"You truly are perceptive, Junior Brother," Yang Zhao said, looking at Jiang Man. His aura expanded bit by bit, seemingly preparing for the kill. "They all say you are an unparalleled genius. Not just a genius in the Foundation Establishment or Golden Core realms, but one whose extraordinary Talent will continue to shine even beyond the Primordial Spirit realm.

"Many say that given your current performance, even the Returning Void realm won’t be able to suppress your Talent.

"In the future, you might even become an Immortal and enter the Immortal Sect.

"To be able to kill a future Immortal right here... well, that means my life hasn’t been lived in vain."

Yang Zhao’s power was already manifesting in all directions, causing the ground to tremble faintly. The vegetation withered at a rapid pace, and the sparse, towering trees swayed incessantly, looking as if they would shatter at any moment.

"Are you Peak Master Bai’s man, Senior Brother?" Jiang Man asked calmly, paying no mind to the changes around him.

"You could say that," Yang Zhao replied.

"Does he want me dead?" Jiang Man paused before adding, "Or is it your own decision to kill me?"

Looking at the placid Jiang Man, Yang Zhao asked softly, "Does it matter?"

Jiang Man nodded.

Of course it mattered. If the Bai Family wanted to kill him, the nature of this situation completely changed. The Ji Family had spread the news that he was Meng Qiewei’s dao companion. For the Bai Family to assassinate such a key figure meant something entirely different. They were deliberately trying to provoke Meng Qiewei.

The situation was exceptionally grave.

From Old Huang and Ting Fengyin, Jiang Man knew that the people on the list were highly restrained. They wouldn’t make a move in private. Nor would they do anything too extreme. Even the Immortal Sect, which maintained absolute stability, operated the same way. They could only allow those who had made contributions to dispatch their avatars; they wouldn’t dare strike a lethal blow.

Even if Zui Fusheng succeeded in the end, the Immortal Sect wouldn’t intervene to protect him once he was found out. If True Master Tai Hua got dragged into it, he wouldn’t fare well either.

The Immortal Sect’s stance was clear: try to prevent anyone on the list from taking action.

If Meng Qiewei’s husband was killed by the Bai Family...

Then... a major conflict would likely erupt.

Seeing Jiang Man’s serious expression, Yang Zhao kindly offered, "The orders I received were simply to kill you."

Jiang Man was surprised.

Were they Peak Master Bai’s orders?

He silently wondered who had actually given the order; this matter was far more severe than he had anticipated. If the Bai Family Ancestor knew of his identity, there was an eighty percent chance he wouldn’t dare order the kill. If the Bai Family knew about the Ji Family’s rumors, they certainly wouldn’t strike a lethal blow.

Then would Peak Master Bai dare to?

Unfortunately, Yang Zhao did not reveal who had issued the command.

"Once you’re dead, I’ll burn the answer to you as a paper offering," Yang Zhao said, gently waving his hand as his voice trailed off.

In an instant, the wind began to pick up. At first, it was just turbulent currents of air, but in the blink of an eye, it solidified into substance. Scales and claws gradually became visible, and whiskers flared in fury. A massive dragon composed entirely of raging storms and killing intent materialized between the two men.

Wherever the dragon’s body passed, the ground wasn’t just blown away; it was sheared off layer by layer. Boulders silently turned to dust, and ancient trees were uprooted, disintegrating into clouds of sawdust in midair.

The giant dragon raised its head and surged toward Jiang Man, bringing a hurricane with it. The howling gales threatened to tear the flesh right off his bones.

Jiang Man exhaled and assumed a combat stance. His fist intent was as heavy as a mountain, and he circulated Immovable as a Mountain at full power. His majestic Qi and Blood erupted with a boom, forming a solid, dense, almost tangible phantom silhouette around him.

Then, he threw a punch, aiming straight for the dragon’s head.

BANG!

The clash of the Magic Skill and his physical might unleashed a terrifying shockwave.

Then came a sharp CRACK.

The giant dragon bit into his Qi and Blood, and fissures spread at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Immediately after...

BOOM!

The power of his Qi and Blood completely collapsed, mercilessly swallowed by the ferocious winds.

The colossal dragon slammed into Jiang Man. It felt as if he had been struck head-on by a primordial beast. The remaining power of his Qi and Blood was violently forced back into his body. The backlash brought a sweet, metallic taste to his throat, and he was sent flying backward uncontrollably.

The dragon didn’t pause for a single moment; its massive body coiled and twisted, heavily wounding Jiang Man and smashing him into the ground.

As the dragon dissipated, Jiang Man struggled to his feet from within the crater.

"So strong," he murmured, staring at Yang Zhao ahead of him in awe.

To think that Primordial Spirit Perfection combined with a Grand Technique could be this powerful. He was completely outmatched. Without a Magic Skill of his own, he really couldn’t deal massive damage. The opponent’s Magic Skill was not the least bit weaker than Bai Qiufeng’s. If he took another hit like that, he would easily lose his ability to fight.

Seeing Jiang Man’s wretched state, Yang Zhao said in surprise, "Very impressive. To think you can still stand after that. If it were anyone else, they would have been immobilized long ago."

Jiang Man stared at him. "Have you considered the consequences if word of my murder gets out, Senior Brother?"

Hearing this, Yang Zhao replied softly, "I have. But Demon Beasts will soon attack this place. You will be torn apart and eaten by them. I will fight with all my might to repel the beasts and survive, but since I am squarely to blame for your death, I will naturally accept whatever punishment is handed down."
