The Eldritch Files
Chapter 317 - 260: Emperor’s Text Infectee (2)
The mere gust of wind from his cape felt sharp enough to tear a person’s skin.
Meanwhile, Han Su put away his stun baton and suddenly raised a hand.
In an instant, copper-colored blood seeped from the back of his left hand. His entire palm and half his forearm became harder than steel.
CLANG! He seized the edge of the cape, his hand completely unscathed.
At the same time, copper-colored blood began to seep rapidly from the briefcase he held in his right hand, each drop hovering in midair.
HSSSSSS...
Some of this copper blood seeped into the Ghost Truck beneath his feet, enveloping every single component to help it upgrade amidst the chaos. The rest of it hovered in the air, transforming into a volley of copper spikes that shot straight toward the Blood Race Viscount.
"Holy shit..."
To the sound of his flesh being torn, the Blood Race Viscount nearly pissed himself in midair.
He thought they were silver spikes.
He put all his strength into a mad dash upward, even as Han Su ripped off a piece of his cape-like wings. Once airborne, his body suddenly shattered and scattered into a swarm of bats. They flew straight into the distant night sky without a single look back.
’He ran off just like that?’
His opponent had been vicious and astonishingly fast.
The charge had been genuinely frightening, but this hasty retreat was so abrupt it was almost hard to process.
As expected of a nobleman, he knew when to prioritize his dignity.
Once he was certain his opponent had well and truly fled, leaving not even a shadow behind, Han Su wasted no time. He leaped off the Ghost Truck, silently invoking Ladder of the Abyssal. His body Flashed in midair, and when he reappeared, he had landed atop the black house.
He stomped, collapsing the roof. Accompanied by a shower of debris and thatch, he landed inside the room, briefcase in hand.
He swayed slightly, dodging a blade that swung at him from behind, then flicked his fingers.
In an instant, the copper blood hovering around him sent the strongest of the goat-horned villagers flying.
Only then did he glance down, his eyes quickly scanning the room. He noticed a small, thin figure sitting behind a simple altar. Laid out before her were animal bones, dried flowers, and a black, sticky mass that resembled a desiccated umbilical cord. The figure was now silently looking up at him.
To his surprise, it was a little girl who looked no older than seven or eight.
She was naked, her body smeared with ash from burnt plants.
Two black goat horns sprouted from her head. Her eyes had brown, horizontal pupils, and strange wisps of black mist floated around her.
Without a doubt, she was the one who had summoned the black mist blanketing the entire area.
Han Su didn’t say anything. He just slowly drew his gun and pointed it at her face.
The little girl’s expression remained unchanged. She merely looked over at Han Su with a hint of cold indifference, her pupils seeming to shift slightly.
Though she had only just lifted her head, Han Su felt as if she had scanned him dozens of times in that single instant.
Each scan was different. One assessed his appearance, another his Spiritual Power, and others probed even deeper things. But the result was always the same.
The moment the muzzle of his gun was pointed at her, it was as if something uniquely terrifying had been branded deep into her mind.
The vacant expression on her face instantly cleared, and her pupils snapped back to their human shape.
’This is the Black Goat?’
Han Su narrowed his eyes, studying the strange little girl. He found her to be unsettling in a way he couldn’t quite describe.
He flicked off the safety on his pistol. "You’re going to listen to me. Got it?" he said.
The little goat-horned girl nodded lightly and opened her mouth to chant something.
The next moment, the black mist outside began to slowly dissipate, and the midday sun shone into the small village.
HISS... HISS... HISS...
Looking out from the house, Han Su saw flashes of fire. It was the newly transformed villagers and the Blood Servants brought by the Blood Ghost. Exposed to the sunlight, the bodies of these strange creatures immediately began to undergo an unstoppable, grotesque change.
’That cooperative?’
Han Su glanced with some surprise at the Little Lamb Girl, who was sitting obediently behind the altar. He then nodded.
"Get up. Come outside with me!"
...
The Little Lamb Girl immediately gave an obedient nod and got up from behind the altar.
Han Su frowned, however. He shrugged off his jacket and tossed it to her.
The Little Lamb Girl wrapped the jacket around herself. One in front of the other, they walked out of the black house. The entire village reeked of rot and decay. The pale sunlight beat down, its glare almost dizzying. In the aftermath of the great battle, the world seemed to have lost its sense of reality.
And so, Han Su led the Little Lamb Girl all the way over to Akbar. He smiled and spoke courteously.
"Captain, I’ve already taken care of that task you gave me."
...
Faced with his smile, Akbar seemed to sway on her feet. Her face was deathly pale, her expression surreal. Around them, the other three members of the Queen Bee squad who had entered the village were approaching from different directions, their eyes just as vacant.
"You..."
Akbar spoke, her expression like she’d just seen a ghost. "How did you do it?"
"Just like you said. Charged straight in."
Han Su said, "They did have backup, but he ran the moment we engaged. After that, I had this Black Goat get rid of the mist, and the Blood Servants melted into puddles of blood. Your intel was right on the money. They really are afraid of it."
