The Eldritch Files
Chapter 316: Emperor's Text Infectee
THUMP-THUMP.
The flesh-and-blood heart inside the mechanical monster pounded wildly. Its headlights shone with an eerie brightness. Countless chunks of fresh, bloody gore splattered from beneath its wheels as it solidly plowed a path through the flesh.
When the Ghost Truck met the Blood Servants, it was steel against flesh. No matter how bizarre or numerous the Blood Servants were, the truck couldn’t have cared less. Its wheels just bit viciously into the ground, crushing everything in their path.
Its momentum unabated, it charged straight for the black house.
But at that very moment, the faint sound of a low Spell echoed from within the black house. An endless black mist surged from the building, more than twice as thick as before. Within the roiling miasma, even the light from the Ghost Truck’s headlights was completely swallowed.
The Ghost Truck, which had always enjoyed toying with others in thick fog, felt for the first time that it had lost its own sense of direction.
Instead of ramming the black house to pieces as it intended, it became disoriented. It uncontrollably circled the building, grinding the dense horde of surrounding Blood Servants into piles of meat paste. It was as if it were helping the black house clear out its enemies.
These Blood Servants, transformed by the Blood Ghost, were bizarre creatures in their own right. Compared to those infected by a zombie virus, they possessed slightly superior regenerative and climbing abilities than an ordinary person.
While they couldn’t possibly withstand the Ghost Truck’s charge head-on, bizarre figures continuously leaped with agility from the black mist on both sides. They latched onto the Ghost Truck’s flanks and began clambering in droves toward the roof.
Han Su had been squatting on the truck’s roof, observing his surroundings. Seeing the Blood Servants swarm toward him, he quietly recited an Encrypted Spell.
Zero Sequence Cipher Spell 01: [I Will Enter the Abyssal].
As he recited the Spell, a cold wind swirled past him. His figure blurred, becoming nearly invisible.
Having lost track of Han Su, the Blood Servants shifted their focus to the Ghost Truck itself. One after another, they opened their fang-filled mouths and tore at the writhing, fleshy parts of the steel behemoth.
Some actually managed to tear off pieces of the Ghost Truck’s flesh. Others bit directly onto steel components, only to rip their own mouths apart in the process.
“HOOONK—”
Being gnawed on like this, the Ghost Truck grew enraged. It honked its horn madly, and from the surrounding mist, figures began to pounce out.
They were its Chong Ghosts!
In the previous timeline, after Han Su had “repaired” it, its Chong Ghosts had vanished. But in this timeline, they were still around.
Now, having been summoned, they manifested and threw themselves into battle against the Blood Servants.
The Ghost Truck itself continued to honk wildly as it bucked and spun, trying to throw the Blood Servants from its body.
Though it was half-flesh and half-machine, it had no sophisticated processing chip, nor a brain. Its thoughts were rather simple.
‘The person who summoned me is very important. I can’t lose face in front of him.’
‘Otherwise, I might lose the privilege of shaking my truck bed for him.’
Meanwhile, Han Su, still squatting on the roof, was in no hurry. He coolly observed the scene. He wasn’t entirely sure if the Blood Ghost virus from the Blood Servants would affect the Ghost Truck’s fleshy parts, but he had plenty of copper-colored blood on hand.
He could heal the Ghost Truck’s wounds and even give it an upgrade in the process.
What concerned him more was the thing inside the black house…
His Spiritual Activity was powerful, and he could vaguely sense that there was something extremely formidable inside the black house…
“SSSHK…”
Suddenly, a sense of alarm flared in Han Su’s mind. He snapped his head up to see a black cloud approaching him.
His form was currently shrouded in shadows, rendering him almost invisible.
Yet this black cloud had somehow pinpointed his exact location. It descended from the sky, rapidly closing in on him.
He remained motionless, then with a swish, drew his stun baton and thrust it straight forward.
“CLACK!”
Both of them saw a flash, and then an awkward scene unfolded.
The black cloud dispersed to reveal a skinny man wrapped in a red cloak. When spread open, the cloak was red; when wrapped around him, it was black. It vaguely changed shape, resembling wings, which enabled him to fly at low altitudes.
A moment ago, he had quickly located Han Su, descended from the sky, spread his cloak, and lunged forward to bite him.
And Han Su, by thrusting the stun baton straight out, had managed to shove it right into the man’s open mouth.
Neither of them had expected this, so they both froze for a moment.
‘This is a Vampire?’
Han Su knew instantly who—or what—this was, and his mind was suddenly filled with sarcastic comments.
‘No wonder the Blood Ghost clan’s position among the Western aristocracy was becoming increasingly awkward. They’re always buying good press in the Mysterious Circle, proclaiming how elegant and noble they are, and secretly investing in movies and TV shows to maintain their mystique, yet they’re still despised.’
‘What kind of aristocrat’s first instinct upon meeting someone is to lunge forward and try to bite them?’
“BZZT!”
After a moment of shock, the Blood Ghost jerked his head back, trying to spit out the stun baton and lunge for another bite.
Han Su’s response was simpler. He just flipped the switch.
The baton instantly discharged at full power. A dazzling electric light Flashed, and with a howl, the Blood Ghost was sent flying backward.
He clutched his mouth, trembling uncontrollably. Even his cloak seemed to writhe rapidly, as if sharing his unbearable pain.
“You despicable worm…”
The physical pain, compounded by the mental humiliation, clearly sent him into a true rage. He circled quickly in the air, then suddenly whipped one edge of his cloak, slashing viciously down toward Han Su. The fabric had somehow become unnaturally sharp.
