Chapter 313: The Ghost Truck Is Still Around

After suffering that crushing defeat in Qinggang and then arriving on such an unfamiliar timeline, Han Su couldn’t describe the sense of relief he felt hearing Wei Lan’s voice.

A smile unconsciously spread across his face as he responded in kind with his Spiritual Power, “You got here faster than I expected.”

“I didn’t dare delay. I rushed over as soon as I found your Spiritual Coordinate.”

Wei Lan’s laughter also carried a relaxed, soothing quality. “This latest Flashing was too shocking; it scared all our friends. It’s a good thing I kept everyone’s Spiritual Coordinates, and lucky that our Queen’s Organization has a mirror in Giant Horn City.”

“Of course, the changes this time were so much greater than before that we weren’t even sure if we could find you.”

“It wasn’t until seeing you just now that I could finally relax a little.”

…

Han Su could understand why she used the word “shocking.” He nodded slightly. “So, just like before, you all still remember?”

Wei Lan answered immediately, “Not only do we remember, but we also discovered that time had suddenly rewound by two days. That desperate, life-or-death battle we fought… it never even happened. Even the course of our lives has deviated, and people who died are alive again.”

“We were all terrified at first. We thought we had fallen into some kind of life projection set up by the Abyssal Studio. It wasn’t until we noticed another one of the kidnapped children was missing that we knew you had acted again.”

“You were too far from us, so it took me some time to sense your coordinate. It’s not easy for the others to come find you, though, so I had to come check things out first.”

…

From Wei Lan’s brief description, Han Su finally had a rough idea of the current situation in Qinggang.

In fact, since arriving on this timeline, he had been pondering. A small difference ten years ago had led to such a vastly different life, changing so much. So, what hadn’t changed?

His memories, his Spiritual Activity, his Spiritual Range, the contents of his suitcase, and now, he had confirmed one more thing: the children he had rescued from the Ancient Castle.

Having been awakened by him on other timelines, they would not forget these events just because the world had been reset.

In a way, though, their experience was even more bizarre than his. He, at least, had returned to the Ancient Castle and knew what was going on. They, on the other hand, had been caught completely off guard, suddenly facing a reset where everything had changed dramatically.

Of course, it wasn’t as if they were left with nothing. After all, the overwhelming sense of defeat from Qinggang’s fight against the Abyssal Studio was still etched perfectly into everyone’s mind.

‘Looks like we need to have a proper talk.’

In his urgency, a deep sense of security washed over him, but there was no time to discuss the details. Han Su said, “For now, let’s focus on the present. Were you hired by Skinning Manor?”

“Of course not.”

Wei Lan laughed. “I was in a hurry to find you, so I haven’t had time to take on other jobs. However, I did just notice that there seems to be a rather unusual character over in the dark house. They must have paid a pretty penny to hire him…”

Hearing this, Han Su’s interest was piqued. “So Skinning Manor is dead set on getting this Black Goat?”

“More than that…”

Wei Lan chuckled. “Looking at the situation, if they don’t get what they want, they might actually bring in an army and fight it out in the open!”

“Then I’m relieved…”

Han Su let out a soft sigh of relief.

‘The Circuit Knights served the Ancient Nobles. The descendants of the Twelve Knights were hidden among the Ancient Nobles. The Seven Days of Divine Descent was also a decision made by those Ancient Nobles. And activating the Mechanical Fragments required noble blood…’

‘In that case, it’s about time I dealt with these so-called nobles.’

‘I’ve been lacking a way to get my foot in the door. If I just showed up unannounced, I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to control the situation. But now that Wei Lan is here, why be polite?’

‘I’ll just borrow something from this village and go say hello!’

His mind made up, he said to Wei Lan, “Then watch my back for now. We’ll talk after I’m done with the work at hand!”

Wei Lan agreed with a smile. She was actually a little curious why Han Su was mixed up with these Mercenaries, but she had always been one to know her place and wouldn’t ask such pointless questions.

As Han Su looked up, he saw Akbar in front of him, clearly oblivious to his conversation with Wei Lan.

Wei Lan had previously described her niche in the Mysterious Circle. After becoming the Empress of Qinggang, her standing in the Mysterious Circle was likely comparable to that of an Independent Investigator, far beyond what some lowly Mercenaries could ever match.

Among the children rescued from the Ancient Castle, her status was arguably number one.

As for her actual power…

Han Su subconsciously felt she was probably number one, but then he thought of Pot Lid Head, who couldn’t be measured by common sense, and the irritable young man he had just brought out…

‘Never mind, I won’t rank them for now. I’ll know once I see them again.’

“I’ve long heard that those nobles are all as rich as kings. It makes sense that Giant Horn City would hire outside help, and it’s no surprise Skinning Manor wouldn’t just sit there and take a beating…”

While Han Su was lost in thought, Akbar grumbled in a low voice, “Now let’s see just how capable this outside help hired by Skinning Manor really is…”

He waved his hand gently as he spoke.

By now, a black fog had permeated the area, blocking out sound, light, and even electronic signals. However, since most of the people in the village had already been killed, the fog had faintly drifted high into the air, obscuring the sky and making the mist below a little thinner.
