Chapter 255: Light and Reflection 3

‎In less than an instant, he was before Damon who couldn’t even blink, his spear falling towards Damon’s neck, aiming to remove his head off his shoulders.

‎

‎But at the last instant, Damon raised his small dagger to block.

‎

‎A clash of gold and silver auras blasted outwards from their middle. The entire world was dyed in gold and silver, and the the two beings that caused it were a furious protagonist, and not so an extra.

‎

‎With the clash, it didn’t take more than an instant for Damon’s dagger to shatter, it was way less durable than Alistair’s spear after all.

‎

‎Surprusingly, Damon came out the loser and got sent skidding a few dozen meters backwards.

‎

‎The remnant light from Alistair’s attack meanwhile, carved a massive jagged ravine hundreds of meters into the ground.

‎

‎Alistair then flicked his spear and swung horizontally in Damon’s direction almost instantly.

‎

‎[Second form: World cleave]

‎

‎And emerged from his spear was a crescent slash of pure golden and light attributed aether.

‎

‎The second movement of the Sacred spear art, an immortal grade technique.

‎

‎

‎Damon had no choice but to use pure aether. He gathered a huge chunk of his reserve in his hand, and purposed it into a high pressured beam that shot to intercept the world cleave.

‎

‎The world cleave and Damon’s improvised aether beam clashed. A screeching sound was produced by the collision as the world lost all color before the might and brightness of the collision...and yet, the golden slash cleaved it in half.

‎

‎It made its way through Damon’s aether beam, and finally reached him. However, it harmlessly passed through him as if he wasn’t there.

‎

‎"Tsk!" Damon clicked his tongue in irritation. H was starting to get annoyed at not being able to use his very own immortal grade technique.

‎

‎Hwd have shown Alistair what an immortal grade technique really could do, especially with his newly achieved Perfected mastery.

‎

‎Damon was almost tempted to draw his sword out and condemn everything to ruin...almost. But alas, he suppressed himself, barely.

‎

‎Aliataie meanwhile didn’t stop to consider anything after the last attack, he swiftly transitioned into the next form.

‎

‎[Third form: Sparking whirlwind ]

‎

‎The spear itself started spinning between Alistair’s fingers. it spun so fast that it seemed it looked to be stationary, only faint sparks of lightning could be seen flickering off of it.

‎

‎Under Alistair’s will, the spear vanished from his hand and in the next instant popped a hole through Damon forehead. Or it would have, if it didn’t just harmlessly pass through him.

‎

‎Damon’s figure vanished that very instant.

‎

‎"How long would it take you... to realizw that attacks of these level doesn’t work on me."

‎

‎Damon voice whispered from behind Alistair like an insidious whisper. Alistair turned on the balls of his feet, instantly activating one of his spear’s unique ability, [Return].

‎

‎His spear that has been flying forward with increasing momentum reappeared back in his hand in a flicker of golden light.

‎

‎[Heavenly rend]

‎

‎The air screamed as Alistair swept his spear at Damon. But unsurprisingly, the spear passed through Damon, while the unruly prince took a step forward, and seized the golden boy’s neck.

‎

‎Damon kneed him in the stomach without hesitation, knocking the air out of the young man, before pivoting with his other foot and giving him an uppercut kick from 6 to 12 o’clock.

‎

‎Alistair’s figure shot into the sky amidst a shower of blood.

‎

‎Damon bent his legs and shot upwards, the earth exploding in his wake. He passed Alistair in an instant, who was already recovering from the rattle in his head.

‎

‎Damon then angled his body to meet up with Alistair, his arm coiled back in a fist the moment he was in position.

‎

‎A small shockwave boomed out as Damon’s dist shot towards Alistair’s head. Fortunately for Alistair, his instincts woke him up from his near unconscious state, and he barely managed to put both arms in X shape before his head, for protection.

‎

‎Bang!

‎

‎Alistair’s body literally disappeared from mid air and kissed the ground the next instant, while Damon also disappeared and reappeared standing in the craterformed from Alistair’s crash.

‎

‎Everyone watched gobsmacked, baffled at what happened the last few seconds.

‎

‎Up on the platform, Calum who was shifting uneasily in his seat, slowly turned to face Anastasia.

‎

‎"Y...you can beat that bastard, can’t you?" He asked, looking for some sort of reassurance.

‎

‎For the first time since he knew Anastasia, Calum saw her face tighten. "I do not know." Anastasia admitted. Inwardly though, she has another thought. ’He’s grown much stronger.’ she mused. ’You better have a valid reason for faking your death or else...’

‎

‎Ans she wasn’t the only one, Mayura who sat at the other end of the platform had and even tighter frown on her face.

‎

‎’This distasteful human would be extremely troublesome.’ She even wished either Anastasia would defeat him in tomorrow’s match so she wouldn’t have to fight him in the finals.

‎

Namor meanwhile, concealed his uncertainty behind his battle thirsty grin. ’How do you defeat someone who can phase through everything.’ he thought.

‎

‎And finally, there was Kaal. ’Another opponent whose abilities don’t exactly counter mine, but would be similarly difficult to defeat.’

"WHAT AM I SEEING, IT SEEMS THE REST OF THE CONTENDERS ARE STARTING TO GET UNEASY!!!" The proctor added fuel to the fire.

‎

‎The audience outside the pocket realm meanwhile were entirely unrestrained. Mostly the demons, merfolk, and elves.

‎

‎"What the fuck?! The use of that ability should be banned!"

‎

‎"How the hell would anyone be able to defeat him if everything would just pass through him."

‎

‎The humans themselves weren’t particularly worried. It didn’t matter who won, both Alistair and the imposter were on their side. The other races meanwhile were worried what might happen if their champion faced Damon.

‎

‎Even the demons who put all their trust in Kaal were shaken. Somw of them even wondered what Kaal could do to defeat the imposter. And what they came up with was... nothing.

‎

‎Such was the case for the merfolk. Namor’s shockwaves would straight up pass through the imposter as if he didn’t even exist.

‎

‎As for the elves, they still held trust in Mayura’s abilities since it appeared that she also shared a certain facet of phasing with the imposter. Though not quite as sophisticated as that of the imposter, she still stood a chance.

‎

‎"I told you he would beat your protege." Edmond smiled in glee.

‎

‎"Aren’t you supposed to be worried that the strongest we have is failing?" Lizzy turned with a glare.

‎

‎"Not in the slightest." Edmond shook his head. "As far as I can tell, the imposter is a human, so we have nothing to worry about.at the end of the day, the human race will still win.

‎

‎Besides, it seems you have forgotten about someone else." He said, his eyes flickering to Anastasia’s figure on the screen. "No matter which three of them win, it would still be the human race’s win."

‎

‎Lizzy couldn’t put up another argument again after hearing Edmond’s words, except if the imposter turns out to not be a human.

‎

‎Yes, they had figured out the identity of the imposter given to them was fake after the student who supposedly gave them the information denied doing so, and instead reported that he had been captured by a shady individual on the day that meeting was called.

‎

‎So, they still didn’t know who the imposter actually was.

‎

‎Meanwhile, back on the battlefield, Alistair lay inside the crater, completely battered and bloodied, his arms lying at the side in a bloodied mess.

‎

‎Step! Step! Step!

‎

‎The soft clack of boots echoed in his ears forcing him to turn in the direction the sound was coming from.

‎

‎He saw Damon who still looked exactly as he did when the fight began, with not a single scratch on his body.

‎

‎"H...how... are you this strong?" Alistair managed to choke out.

‎

‎"What part of ’I am the strongest’ do you not understand?" Damon places both arms on his waist in mock exasperation.

‎

‎"If you’re this strong, why are you hiding?" Alistair asked again.

‎

‎"Hmmm, let me think about it." Damon placed his hand to his chin for a second before removing it. "It would be inconvenient if I revealed myself. What do you think would happen if a genius such as myself revealed himself?"

‎

‎"A genius huh?" Alistair chuckled. "A pity, I promised someone I was going to win, so I can’t lose." His voice shine with determination towards the end.

‎

‎"Oh really..." Damon began to speak but was cut off by a trident shaped construct that materialized and shot towards him.

‎

‎Alistair took the brief moment where Damon was occupied and launched himself up to his feet.

‎

‎He forced his mangled arms to move and manifested a dagger construct in one, then launched himself at Damon.

‎

‎Unfortunately for him, Damon had never let his guard down. He shifted his body, becoming almost parallel to the ground, letting the trident pass above him.

‎

‎Then almost immediately, reached out for it and caught it, before rising back upright.

‎

‎Damon rose back up just in time to see Alistair piercing a dagger towards his throat.

‎

‎Damon parried the dagger with ease, delivered a bone rattling punch to Alistair’s guts which sent him crashing into the crater’s wall, then without hesitation, threw the trident construct still in his hand at the golden boy.

‎

‎The trident punched through the air with a deafening shockwave and reached Alistair in the blink of an eye. However the trident was stopped in its place just as it was millimeter away from piercing Alistair’s head, held in place by none other than the commentator.

‎

‎"THE IMPOSTER AMONG US WINS!!!
