Chapter 256: Shockwave and Density 1
"THE IMPOSTER AMONG US WINS!!!
Damon bowed theatrically at the announcement with his arm on his chest like a performer, and Alistair witnessing that, coughed out a mouthful of blood before eventually falling unconscious.
The others still on the platform had mixed feelings about his win, but the human spectators were especially wild with their cheers.
Both the figures of Damon and Alistair soon disappeared, one back to the platform, and the other, out of the pocket dimension.
Damon reappeared in the exact place he has been transported from, next to Calum and Anastasia.
"I told you didn’t I? I am the strongest." He flashed a bright smile.
"Yes, you’re the strongest." Anastasia nodded, flashing him a suspiciously eerie smile.
’What has gotten into her head?’ Both Calum and Damon thought at the same time, but soon dismissed the thought as the next match was called.
With the Alpha rankers meanwhile.
"So, that is all the child with the Omega ranked physique amounts to." Ellaria commented in a mocking tone.
"It disappoints me as well." Selene agreed. "I thought he’d be more extraordinary, or have something special about him.
"To think the demon race was willing to extend a marriage alliance before." Regulus shook his head with a smile.
"So what?" Sevas shrugged. "Who cares if he’s special or not? My daughter has beaten him before, and I’m damn sure she can still do the same."
Alistair was as insignificant as a bug to him, and he was sure it was the same for the others. Who cares if Alistair had an Omega ranked physique, at the end of the day, it would still take years for him to mature.
There has been some with a physique of that rank during the dark war, and Sevas was willing to bet there were more of them throughout the course of history. They simply hadn’t lived long enough to realize their potential.
"Forget it." Lucas shook his head. "The next match is about to start."
Namor and Mayura both stood across from each other, each of them awaiting the proctor’s instruction.
Namor grinned before cracking his neck and rolling his shoulders.
"Let’s make this great battle shall we?" Namor said to Mayura, his battle thirsty grin still present on his face.
Mayura merely stared at him, her expression calm as her nasal muscles twitched slightly.
"Shut up, fish boy. Your fishy smell is already irritating as it is."
"OHOHO, GIVING JABS AT EACH OTHER BEFORE THE MATCH EVEN STARTS, I’M AFRAID I CANNOT CONDONE SUCH, SO START!" The commentator gave the signal.
Namor moved first, taking a single step forward as his foot slammed into the ground, sending a shockwave outward that shattered the earth beneath him and propelled his body forward at incredible speed.
’So fast.’ Mayura’s eyes narrowed as he appeared before her instantly his fist already shooting towards her stomach with a concentrated shockwave. Mayura increased the density of her body with a single thought.
Namor’s fist struck her stomach with enough force to crater the ground beneath her feet as a shockwave detonated between the point of contact of his fist and her stomach, but Mayura barely moved.
Namor’s expression changed slightly. "That’s some impressive durability." he muttered.
But Mayura already reached for his and suddenly decreased her density. The sudden change caused Namor to stumble forward as Mayura used his own momentum against him, pulling him closer before driving her knee into his stomach.
Namor’s body bent slightly from the impact, as a pocket of air erupted from his back due to the force.
Mayura followed up immediately, swinging her elbow toward his face, but
Namor raised his other arm.
A concentrated shockwave erupted between his palm and her elbow, and Mayura’s body was blasted backward, her feet leaving the ground as she was sent flying dozens of meters away.
She twisted her body in midair before landing on her feet, but Namor didn’t give her time to recover. He slammed both his palms together.
BOOM!
A massive shockwave erupted from his body, spreading outward in every direction and tearing through the battlefield. Dust and debris were sent flying through the air as the ground shattered I to innumerable pieces of dust and rocks.
Mayura’s eyes narrowed as the shockwave approached. She manipulated the density of her body instantly. Instead of tanking this attack, her density decreased, letting the entire shockwave pass through her.
Namor’s grin didn’t falter even as nothing happened to Mayura and even as both of he and her suddenly disappeared into the dust. His eyes moved from one side to the other.
He couldn’t sense her, nor could he see her, but his instincts suddenly kicked in.
Namor tilted his entire body to the side with terrifying efficiency as the cold glint of a rapier cleaved through the space he previously was a fraction of a moment ago.
Namor reacted instantly, raising his arm in the direction the rapier had came from, and a dense shockwave erupted, blasting the debris apart, giving him some sort of visibility.
’She can somehow see me or sense me, but I can’t.’ Namor reasoned.
And he was right. Mayura couldn’t see him, but she could sense him through his density. None of the rocks, debris or dust in the surrounding has the same shape or density as he did, and thus even with some degree of blindness, Mayura knew his precise position.
Her blade got enveloped in a platinum hue as she silently appeared, this time at his side. She swung the rapier in such an angle that even if Namor did manage to dodge, he wouldn’t come out unscathed.
True to her thoughts, Namor sensed the blade carving towards him and fell parallel to the ground, but Mayura was already ready, her blade followed him without pause or hesitation.
Shiiiing!
Mayura’s blade cut into Namor’s arm with a sickening tear. But it wasn’t to her satisfaction because she had only managed to cut flesh, instead of taking the entire limb off.
Meanwhile, Namor feeling the cut on his arm, threw hesitation out of the window. His mace appeared in his hands.
’Not good.’ Mayura frowned, sensing the sudden density that appeared in Namor’s hands. She instantly decreased her density just as Namor raised the mace up and hit it at the ground with immense force.
A rippling shockwave burst outwards as the impact detonated beneath them. The ground caved in and shattered into countless pieces and even more dust exploded into the air.
Namor then bent his legs and jumped upwards, overlooking the entire cloud of dust, before clapping his hands directly towards the dust cloud.
BOOM!
A deafening shockwave shot towards the cloud of dust like an invisible projectile, blowing it out of existence.
And there in the middle of an enormous crater that spanned kilometers stood Mayura, who still looked pristine, her platinum hair swaying in the wind, and reflecting off the silver blade of her rapier.
Namor fell back to the ground and his figure disappeared the moment his feet touched ground in a rippling shockwave.
He completely disappeared from Mayura’s vision and senses, and the next instant, a fist cloaked in a concentrated shockwave connected against her skull, the shockwave detonating on impact.
However Mayura had increased her density, allowing her to withstand the force of the attack. Her head barely tilted to the side, before she raised her arm and immediately swung her fist towards his face.
Namor ducked beneath it and Mayura’s fist passed over his head, then he retaliated with an elbow to her ribs.
Mayura increased her density at the point of impact, just before the elbow connected.
The force of the strike pushed her skidding several meters across the ground, but her ribs remained intact.
Namor immediately followed after her, his fist pulled backward. The air around his arm began vibrating violently, and Mayura noticed the change.
’This one looks different.’ She thought.
He punched at her and a concentrated shockwave erupted from his fist, erasing the distance in an instant.
Mayura increased the density of her body as much as she could just before the shockwave struck her.
BOOM!
Her body was sent flying through the sky.
She crashed into the ground several kilometers away, creating a massive crater.
For a few seconds, there was no movement, Namor shot over and stared at the crater.
"Please don’t be out yet." He desperately pleaded.
The dust began to settle and Namor’s expression slowly changed.
Mayura stood at the centre of the crater.
Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth and her clothes were torn in several places, but she was still standing.
Namor grinned at that.
"You are still standing, I see."
"You filthy fish." Mayura spat as her aether began to pulse and the density around her began to change rapidly. The ground beneath her feet began sinking.
Namor’s grin widened.
Mayura’s density continued increasing.
The pressure around her became so great that the surrounding ground began cracking beneath her feet.
