The Broken Halo

Chapter 537: A Brief Yet Baffling Battle

Merath, Jorra, Sunless, Sonya, and Akaza were shocked by Simon’s sudden attack.

Even Akaza who knew a little bit of what Simon’s plans were was surprised by this.

No words were spoken.

No greeting.

No hello.

Nothing.

Just a straight punch going toward Jorra’s left chest.

Although Jorra was stunned and taken aback by Simon’s sudden attack, he was not a weakling or a novice when it comes to battle.

He was a Daemon.

He was a member of the Abyss.

He would die before he allowed a peasant and lowly demonic beast hybrid got the better of him.

He sent out a punch coated with his demonic energy, his eyes flashing with thick killing intent.

Although he had no idea why Simon was attacking him, he didn’t care.

This was an opportunity for him to kill a thorn in his side.

He had always wanted to kill Simon, but Merath told him that it was not worth it. She constantly reminded him of their main task at hand.

Killing Simon would draw unwanted attention.

However, since Simon attacked him first for no reason at all, he could claim self defense.

And there would be no punishment or commotion about it at all.

Because he wanted to kill Simon, he coated his fists with his demonic energy.

He might be emitting the aura of a Supreme Fiend, but his true rank was that of a Supreme Archfiend.

His race might not excel in physical combat, but he believed that there was no way a peasant and lowly demon hybrid would match up to him in terms of physique.

’Die!’

Jorra’s eyes flashed with murder.

Unfortunately for him, he had no idea they Simon was no longer a Fiend but an Archfiend.

And Simon was an Archfiend with the physical strength of a Minor Greater Demon.

Jorra was physically strong and he could also fight an average Minor Greater Demon in terms of pure physical strength, but he was not mentally and physically prepared.

BANG!

Crack!

The moment their fists collided, the bones in Jorra’s arm cracked loudly and his arm was nearly ripped out from his shoulder.

Jorra’s eyes widened in disbelief as his arm was flung away by Simon’s punch.

Then he screamed... or he tried to.

Bang!

Cough!

Another punch landed on Jorra’s chest, and this time around, the Daemon did not see Simon’s hand move at all.

He coughed out a mouthful of blood due to the power behind the punch and because he was not prepared in the slightest.

As he held his arm and stomach with just a single arm, he looked quite pathetic.

But Simon didn’t care.

He unleashed another punch toward Jorra’s chest.

This time around, Jorra reacted as quickly as possible.

He tried to slap Simon’s arm away with the back of his hand which was coated with thick demonic energy, but to his shock and disbelief.

Bang!

A powerful force hit his temple, nearly separating his head from his neck.

’How? His hand was never close to my face, so how?’

When Sonya saw Simon using the Broken Rhythm Art, she nodded proudly.

Though she didn’t know why Simon was suddenly attacking Jorra, she didn’t care.

"ENOUGH!"

Merath shouted after having overcome her initial shock and confusion.

The aura she radiated was powerful and intense, shocking many of the demons around.

Merath was about to attack, but Sonya lightly kicked the floor.

A second later, a hole suddenly appeared beneath Merath’s feet.

She couldn’t react in time.

She fell inside the hole.

The hole was small and shallow. It only reached her knees, but when Sonya clenched her fists, the hole closed, causing pain to Merath’s feet.

Merath instantly looked in Sonya’s direction with bloodshot eyes that were full of anger.

"YOU!"

BOOM!

Her aura erupted, and the ground exploded into pieces.

Debris flew everywhere, and Sonya whistled.

"Damn. She’s kinda strong."

Despite her nonchalant words, Sonya’s eyes burned with battle intent.

She didn’t know who Merath was, and her senses told her that Merath was a Fiend.

However, her instincts told her otherwise.

She was strong.

Extremely strong to the point that Sonya felt a chill across her spine.

As Merath’s body rose from the hole in the ground with her long white hair flowing along with her aura, the air became extremely tense.

Sonya grinned, then she gestured at Sunless and Akaza.

"Stand back. She’s mine."

’I don’t know what little kitty is doing, but I like it. Life in the academy without him is going to be boring as fuck.’

Sonya’s eyes shined brightly.

Ptui

Ptui

CLAP!

She spat into her hands and clapped loudly.

"Come you white haired bitch. Let this honourable teach you some-"

Bang!

Before Sonya could complete her words, Simon appeared beside Merath and punched her in the face.

Merath reacted very quickly to his attack.

However, Simon used the Broken Rhythm Art and though Merath thought she had blocked his punch, her head snapped to the side at the exact moment she moved her hands.

Simon then launched a series of punches on Merath. His punches were so quick and powerful to the point that it sounded like gunshots.

Whenever Merath tried to block a punch that was coming toward her right, that same punch would suddenly appeared in her face.

Merath was overwhelmed, and she was furious

So furious to the point that if Simon gave her the opportunity, just a second, a single second... she would unleash everything she had and kill him on the spot.

Secrecy be damned.

Exposure be damned.

She wanted Simon’s head!

Unfortunately for her, Simon did not give her such an opportunity.

As for Sonya, her expression was extremely ugly.

She was pissed.

She was really looking forward to battling Merath, but Simon prevented that.

She was about to speak, but she saw the black wraps around Simon’s arms move.

Simon took a step back, and just when Merath thought this was her opportunity, the Chaos Wraps wrapped itself around her, binding her.

’What? What is this?’

She frowned deeply and looked at the Chaos Wraps around her body.

When she did, she saw Jorra from the corner of her eyes, and to her disbelief... he was unconscious and was also bound by the same black wraps that bound her.

’What in the-?’

Before she could complete her thoughts, Simon chopped her neck and she fell unconscious.

Simon held her by the waist before she fell, then he walked toward the unconscious Jorra and grabbed the Chaos Wraps that bound him.

A second later, he vanished with Jorra and Merath, shocking Sunless, Akaza, and Sonya.

They were stunned, and they didn’t know how to react.

They looked at one another, each having blank expressions.

Did Simon just... abandon them?

Just as Sonya’s lips parted open, Simon suddenly reappeared and without saying a word, he approached the trio, held them, and teleported to another location with the three Initiates.

Three seconds later, Black Midnight arrived.
