Chapter 244: I Want To Kill Him

Chapter 244: 244: I Want To Kill Him

’What did I just hear? The corpse of a Herald?’

Simon honestly believed he had heard wrong since Merath’s words were completely absurd.

How could there be a corpse of a Herald in the Shadowgrave Clan?

Heralds were the first otherworldly beings that appeared on Earth, and they were the ones who gave humans Blessings and the system.

They were sent by the gods to assist the humans on Earth, and for Simon, the Heralds were even more mysterious than the gods he knew.

’Unless the gods that sent the Heralds are not the gods I know, but the gods that Lilith and the Sword Daemon have been referring to.’

Although this was a thought that intrigued Simon, he pushed to the back of his mind since it was not needed in this situation.

’A corpse of a Herald… I doubt it very much. If there was a dead Herald here, then the Divine Realm would definitely launch a joint attack on the Shadowgrave Clan and destroy it no matter what.’

’The other Heralds should also be aware if their fellow comrade is dead… Maybe.’

When it came to the Heralds, Simon knew even more about the gods compared to the Heralds.

The Heralds were far more mysterious than the gods, and he had been warned at one point in time by a god that he should be wary of the Heralds and not be antagonistic with them.

Even as a Demi-God in his past life, he knew that the Heralds were still far more powerful than him.

In fact, some Heralds gave him the feeling that they were even more powerful than some of the strongest gods he encountered.

Although, Simon knew little about the Heralds because of how mysterious they were, he just had a strong feeling that there was no corpse of a Herald in the Shadowgrave Clan.

’And if there is a corpse, can I devour it?’

Devouring the corpse of a Herald would bring him the greatest benefit, and he could not help but wonder what exactly he’d gain from devouring the corpse of a Herald.

’I don’t know the abilities a Herald has, but it should be extremely powerful and unique, considering their appearance… I guess I should ’assist’ them in finding this corpse.’

’If there’s actually a corpse of a Herald, then I might benefit greatly from it, and if there’s none… Then it won’t be bad to keep these two guys close to me.’

Only three seconds had passed after Merath told him what their main goal was, and in the eyes of Merath and Jorra, Simon seemed lost.

And his next words confirmed their thoughts that Simon was actually lost.

“What is a Herald?”

Of course Simon could not act like he knew the Heralds in front of Jorra and Merath. Maybe, he could behave like he knew about these otherworldly beings in front of Lilith since she already knew that he was not actually a sixteen year old, but he couldn’t do the same in front of the duo.

Jorra sneered in disdain when he heard Simon’s question, and he could not help but speak.

“You don’t even know what a Herald is, and you want to help us. Lowly peasant beast.”

Simon ignored the boy and just stared at Merath, waiting for her to give him an answer.

“Heralds are basically the beings in charge of the system of humans.”

That was all she said, and Simon nodded calmly.

Even though her explanation was very short and clearly not enough for him to understand the significance of Heralds- if he was truly ignorant about them- he wasn’t going to bother wasting his time, asking about Heralds.

“During my time with the Ghost Sword Emperor, I heard about these beings called The Heralds, but the Ghost Sword Emperor never encountered one, which is sort of disappointing. I’m honestly very curious to see a Herald.”

Simon raised a brow in slight surprise. “There were no Heralds during your time?”

Lilith shook her head. “No. That’s why I’m curious to see these beings called Heralds.”

“Hmm.” Simon hummed softly, and Merath and Jorra believed that he was humming because he was trying to understand who the Heralds were.

Simon shifted his gaze to the duo a second later.

“I want to assist you in finding this Herald.”

Merath frowned behind her mask. “Why? Even if you find a Herald, you can’t benefit anything from it. A Herald is far too powerful for you to even say you want something from its corpse.”

Simon shrugged. “Maybe it’s so that I can use that to improve my chances of joining The Abyss. If I offer you guys substantial help and you guys see my battle power, your organization might decide to take me in.”

Merath calmly shook her head and said indifferently. “Number one, you’re not even an Archfiend, how much battle power can you offer?”

“Number two, even if you offer substantial help in finding the Herald, The Abyss would still not accept you as long as you’re not a True Daemon.”

“The Abyss only accepts True Daemons, and since you rejected my assistance, I won’t help you or fight on your behalf so that you can join The Abyss.”

Simon laughed softly. “Then I guess I’ll just have to become a True Daemon then.”

Merath narrowed her eyes, and Jorra’s eyes flashed with coldness.

He truly did not like Simon at all.

For a lesser hybrid daemon and a beast, he was far more arrogant than even some members of The Abyss who had the right to be arrogant.

Simon released a soft sigh, then he stood.

“I believe we’ve spoken enough for now. Let’s talk later, we have a class on Anatomy.”

Merath and Jorra did not give a response, but Simon didn’t mind.

He walked past them, directly walking through the Lie Eater who had been quiet throughout.

Merath and Jorra noticed this, and they could not help but frown behind their masks.

Had Simon done this on purpose?

Or could he not actually see the Lie Eater?

“If you guys find the location of the Herald, tell me and I’ll come helping. See you guys later in class.”

Simon waved at them with smiling eyes, then he walked away, stepping out of the range of the Noise Eater’s noise cancellation ability.

Merath and Jorra watched him leave with Merath having indifference in her eyes and Jorra having a sharp coldness in his eyes.

“I want to kill him.” Jorra said.
