Chapter 245: I Hate School
Chapter 245: 245: I Hate School
“I want to kill him.”
When Merath heard these words from Jorra, she released a soft sigh.
“I also want to kill him, but that would cause more problems for us.”
Jorra did not respond and just kept on staring at Simon’s back with disgust and anger.
“He knows too much. He has to die. Since the clan has branded him as a slave, they wouldn’t mind even if he dies.”
Merath shook her head. “That’s not true. He’s a suspect in the death of Thorgan, I have a feeling that the clan wants to find the culprit by all means.”
“And even if they don’t want to, it would be too suspicious if Blackmoon is killed after his interrogation. They might think that somebody is trying to silence him, and that would lead to an even bigger investigation from the clan.”
“If that happens, our chances of completing the mission of The Abyss would drastically decrease, and we might have no choice but to escape.”
The more Merath explained, the uglier Jorra’s expression became.
He wanted to kill Simon so bad. If they were not in the clan, he would have attacked Simon without hesitation.
“So, what you’re trying to say is that we cannot kill that bastard anytime soon?”
Merath released a soft sigh. “Unfortunately, yes.”
Jorra clicked his tongue in anger, but Merath still had a few things to say.
“I’m also worried that we might not be able to kill him while we’re in the Shadowgrave Clan.”
Jorra looked at her with a frown. “Why?”
“We don’t know his backstory, but I’ve always wondered why the Shadowgrave Clan made him a slave.”
Jorra’s frown deepened. “What do you mean? Is such a thing so complex? Maybe the Shadowgrave Clan found him in the gutter, picked him up, and made him a slave. Or maybe he’s a surviving bastard of a rival clan the Shadowgrave Clan destroyed. Or maybe he was even born here from his whoremother who is a slave.”
“These could be his backstory as to why he’s a slave of the Shadowgrave Clan. Why are you thinking so hard about something so insignificant?”
Merath narrowed her eyes slightly as she watched Simon.
“I would have had the same thought if he was a complete weakling and a push over. But he’s not.”
“Like it or not, he is the most popular individual in our class, and he has established himself as an elite of the class, as the top student of the class, even if it’s just for now.”
“None of his bloodlines are at the Noble grade, but he’s still more powerful than many demons at his level and even beyond his level.”
“For somebody like him with such talents in battle and energy control, it does not make sense for the Shadowgrave Clan to make him a slave and to suppress him this much if he was picked up from the gutter like you said.”
“And if he was from a destroyed rival clan, then why would the clan choose to not kill him since he might have thoughts of revenge?”
Jorra frowned deeply and his expression behind his mask was dark and unsightly.
However, Merath, was not done.
“I feel like, the only reason why the clan would decide to keep a potential threat is if he has something that’s beneficial to the clan.”
Merath’s eyes flashed with a calculating and thoughtful light as she reached this point in her assumptions.
She felt that she was getting somewhere, and in a way, she was both right and wrong.
“If we assume that he’s actually from a rival clan, then he might have something that the clan wants but cannot get for some reason. Maybe the clan needs him.”
“Which means, even if we kill him after the clan finds out the culprit behind Thorgan’s death, the clan would still investigate the cause of his death despite him being a slave?”
Merath’s brows were furrowed in thought for a moment, then she shook her head.
“What I just said is still an assumption, not the truth. And… We might be able to kill him without getting on the clan’s bad side.”
The light of hope flashed in Jorra’s eyes the moment he heard this.
“It’s simple actually. We can kill him in a duel or even out in the open like how the other Initiates have tried to kill him. If we kill him openly, there’ll be nothing for the clan to investigate, and they’ll just take it as a class dispute. According to the rules, we’ll only have to pay a fine, which should not be a problem for us.”
Jorra’s eyes flashed with killing intent and excitement.
“Good. That means I can kill him now, right?”
Jorra took two steps forward and was about to look for Simon and kill him.
He was being very serious when he said he wanted to kill Simon.
However, Merath stopped him.
“Stop, you fool.”
Jorra stopped with an expression filled with displeasure.
“What now?”
Merath shook her head. “Have you forgotten that you can’t use your full powers in this place?”
Jorra scoffed. “I don’t need to use my full powers to kill him. I can limit myself.”
Merath shook her head once again. “No. He’s not so weak that you can kill him without exposing more than necessary. You also sensed his killing intent. He’s not ordinary.”
“Then why did you tell me that we can kill him in the open if we cannot do that?” Jorra growled with a furious tone.
Merath indifferently rolled her eyes.
“You can obviously kill him, but at what cost? You’ll be showing the academy that you’re more powerful than they initially believed, drawing more attention to yourself, and affecting our mission in the end.”
At the mention of their mission, Jorra calmed down. However, he was still extremely displeased and angry.
“Then what do we do? I don’t like him.”
Merath looked at Jorra, then she smiled behind her mask.
“Since he wants to assist us, we’ll make use of him. If he dies while helping us, then so be it.”
She turned and began to walk in the same direction Simon walked.
“Where are you going?” Jorra asked with a frown.
“We have Anatomy class. Have you forgotten?”
Jorra immediately cursed. “Damn it. I hate school.”
