Chapter 233: A Hybrid

Chapter 233: 233: A Hybrid

Simon decided to push the matter of the Soul Mirror Demon to the back of his head since there was nothing he could do about it for now.

The best thing that could have happened was Zebos telling him when the Soul Mirror Demon might arrive, but unfortunately, he didn’t.

And there was no way he could ask unless he wanted to undo all the lies and manipulations he did in the interrogation room.

’What a hassle. I might have to improve my cultivation at a much quicker pace if I cannot find out when the Soul Mirror would arrive.’

’It would draw the attention of the higher ups of the clan, but I have no choice. I need to at least have some level of strength to protect myself in the eventually fallout.’

After Simon had these thoughts, Lilith suddenly spoke once again.

[Should I tell you something interesting about the Soul Mirror Demons?]

Simon was instantly curious. Although he knew a lot about the Soul Mirror Demons, he was curious about what a being like Lilith considered interesting enough to tell him.

[What?]

[The Soul Mirror Demons are actually the creations of the Soul Daemon… One of the most powerful Daemons. A Daemon that was on par with the Shadow Monarch… Some even considered the Soul Daemon to be more powerful than the Shadow Monarch.]

Simon raised a brow. This was information he did not know, but he wondered how it was useful to him.

And Lilith accurately guessed what he was thinking.

[You’re thinking to yourself how this information is useful to you, right?]

Simon nodded slightly. [Yes.]

[Well, since you strangely have the abilities of the Devourer and you admitted to consuming the blood essence of a Devourer, you might be able to help me to regain my strength at a faster rate than I initially expected.]

Simon raised a brow.

[How?]

[I’m currently weakened, and I’m also in my spirit form as you can see.]

[Currently, I’m using your Chaos Flame to slowly strengthen myself, but since you’re so weak, the effect is very little and I’m not benefitting much from your Chaos Flame.]

[If you’re able to kill a Soul Mirror Demon and you devour it, your soul would benefit and I’ll also benefit a lot more from using your Chaos Flame while you’re so weak.]

Simon had a strange expression when he heard Lilith’s words.

[So, you’re telling me to kill the Soul Mirror Demon when it comes?]

[Yes. If it comes down to it.]

Simon’s expression became even more strange.

He shook his head slightly.

[Two things… Number one. I hope you know that if the clan decides to hire a Soul Mirror Demon, the chances that it would be a Greater Demon and not even an Archfiend is very high? How do you expect me to kill a Greater Demon?]

[Then you’ll just have to prepare, work harder, and get stronger faster.]

Simon’s lips could not help but twitch when he heard these words.

He had a lot he wanted to say in response to these words, but he decided to keep quiet. For some reason, his instincts and experience were warning him that he would find himself in an argument against a woman.

And arguments like that… Men rarely won.

He decided to ask the next question.

[Number two… What if it’s an Archfiend Soul Mirror Demon that arrives? Would the benefits be so massive that you’d want me to kill the Soul Mirror Demon?]

[It’ll be five times more beneficial for me if you’re able to kill the Soul Mirror Demon with the Chaos Blade compared to how your Chaos Flame is nourishing me, right now.]

[Demons who are creations of the Soul Daemon or related to the Soul Daemon in some way would help me regain my strength faster if you kill them with the Chaos Blade.]

[And if you’re able to devour the Soul Mirror Demon, your soul would benefit greatly from it.]

Simon remained silent as he thought about everything Lilith just said.

Of course he was not going to do something as foolish as trying to kill the Soul Mirror Demon if it was a Greater Demon despite the benefits.

But he could not lie that he was not interested in the benefits he could gain for his soul if he ever killed and devoured the Soul Mirror Demon.

However, there was just one small problem.

[I’m sure you know that I don’t trust you, right?]

Lilith scoffed. [I’m sure you’d never trust me no matter what. Isn’t that why you lied to me.]

Simon’s lips curled into a light smile, but he chose not to give a response to her last statement.

[Since you know, then you should also know that I’m not going to kill the Soul Mirror Demon and allow you to benefit from it. Who knows if you’ll kill me once you’re strong enough.]

[Then what do you want? For a bastard like you, I’m sure that you must want something in return for helping me to recover my strength.]

Simon was rather pleased with the fact that Lilith knew that for him to agree to help her recover her strength, she had to give him in something in return.

[Why don’t we start with you.]

Before Simon could even continue his words, Lilith exclaimed in a tone filled with disbelief.

[What? You want me? Boy, you’re not worthy.]

Simon’s lips twitched when he perceived the anger and killing intent.

’Strange that my heart is emitting killing intent toward me.’

Simon released a soft sigh.

[You didn’t allow me to finish my sentence. I meant, tell me about yourself. I know about you aside from your name and the fact that you’re the daughter of Hell’s Sword Daemon.]

[I don’t know your race. I don’t know how you look like. I don’t know what you can do for me. I don’t know your true rank. I don’t know so many things, Lilith.]

[So, kindly tell me something about yourself.]

Lilith was silent for a while, then she spoke.

[I guess you’re right. If I want you to trust me to a certain extent and if I want you to help me regain my full strength, then I suppose I should tell you a few things about myself.]

She paused, then she inhaled deeply.

[I am actually a Hybrid… My father, Hell’s Sword Daemon, was a fallen angel and my mother was a True Dragon.]
