The Billionaire's Heir I Never Knew Was Mine

Chapter 347: A Spy In The House

The Next Day at Lakeside Garden.

Sienna noticed her morning sickness wasn’t as bad as the day before. She still got up at her usual time and enjoyed breakfast with Skylar.

Spending time with her clever, adorable son made her morning enjoyable.

For a little while, she could forget the big secret she was keeping.

However, later that afternoon, Zachary called her. The moment she heard the concern in his voice, she began to suspect that someone had betrayed her by revealing her pregnancy to him.

She quickly sat down on the sofa in her bedroom, wondering whether Scott or Linda had somehow told him despite her request to keep the news a secret.

“My love, how are you feeling? Are you okay?” Zachary asked, his voice filled with concern.

Sienna tried to keep her voice calm. “Of course, I’m okay.” She let out a light chuckle and continued, “Why do you think something is wrong with me?”

She could tell from his tone that he was worried, even though he tried not to sound too serious.

Now. She started to feel nervous. If Zachary already knew about her pregnancy, she was certain he would find a way to rush back to the capital, regardless of how important his meetings were. He might even leave the gala dinner without caring about the business partners waiting for him.

Zachary didn’t answer immediately. Instead, Sienna heard him release a long breath, and her suspicion grew stronger.

She sat up a little straighter, her mind quickly running through every possible explanation. Had Scott told him? Had Linda called him? Or had Arthur somehow noticed something and reported it to Zachary before she had the chance to prepare her surprise?

“Honey, why am I the one who feels worried now? Say something, please…” she said, trying to sound playful despite her growing curiosity.

“I’m fine,” Zachary replied.

His voice was gentle, and the reassurance made Sienna smile even though he couldn’t see her. She knew her husband well enough to understand that he was probably still concerned.

“But, my dear,” he continued, “Arthur told me that you haven’t had much of an appetite since yesterday. He said you’ve only been eating a little.”

The moment she heard his explanation, she understood why he had sounded so worried. Zachary didn’t know about her pregnancy after all. His concern came from Arthur’s report, not from any information about her hospital visit.

She couldn’t help but find it amusing that Arthur was so devoted to Zachary that he reported even the smallest change in her daily routine. Apparently, being the head of the household’s butler also meant serving as her husband’s personal information center. How amusing.

“Honey, I can’t believe you have a spy watching me while you’re away,” Sienna teased, letting out a soft laugh.

Zachary laughed on the other end of the call enough to make her heart feel warmer, and she found herself wishing he were sitting beside her instead of being in another city.

“Honey, don’t let Arthur’s report worry you,” she continued. “I eat more than enough, so you have to believe me. I’m not starving myself.”

“I believe you, my love. I just don’t want you to become too thin by the time I return.”

“Are you saying I’m going to disappear if you stay away for too long?”

“My love, that depends on how much you eat.”

She couldn’t help but stifle a laugh before saying, “Mr. Sterling, are you criticizing my weight now?”

“No.”

“Hon, your answer came too quickly.”

“I was answering honestly.”

Sienna laughed, shaking her head. Even when he wasn’t trying to be funny, Zachary had a way of making her laugh with his short, straightforward answers. His quiet personality hadn’t changed, but she had learned to recognize the humor hidden in his serious tone.

“Fine. I’ll make sure Arthur gives you a full report about everything I eat,” she said. “Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and even the food I think about eating.”

“Please don’t. That would make his report too long.”

“Then you should stop asking him to watch me.”

“I never asked him to watch you.”

“Of course you didn’t. He probably volunteered because he loves you more than he loves me.”

Zachary chuckled again, and Sienna felt pleased with herself. She had managed to steer the conversation away from her health before he could ask too many questions. She rested her head against the back of the sofa and allowed herself to relax.

“Anyway, how are things over there?” she asked. “I hope your meeting is going well.”

“They’ve been fine,” Zachary answered. “There’s only a gala dinner tonight with the other participants, including the business leaders from several countries. I can’t avoid it, so I have to attend.”

“Wow, the dinner sounds exciting.”

“No. It’s going to be boring because you aren’t here with me.”

Sienna smiled at his response. “You haven’t even attended yet, and you’re already complaining?”

“I know what to expect.”

“Perhaps you’ll enjoy yourself once you arrive. You might meet someone interesting.”

“I already know someone interesting. She’s at home and keeps trying to make me jealous.”

Sienna’s smile widened. “I was only suggesting that you make new business connections.”

“I don’t need new connections tonight. I need my wife.”

His simple response softened her expression. Zachary rarely said long romantic speeches, but he didn’t need to. His words were direct, and she knew he meant them. Still, she wasn’t about to let him escape without teasing him a little more.

“Well, at least you can bring home a million-dollar project for the company, right?”

“That’s the only benefit of spending the evening trying to entertain them.”

“Then you should smile more and pretend you’re enjoying yourself.”

“I’ll try.”

“Try harder.”

“I’ll consider it.”

Sienna laughed. “Honey, you sound like you’re preparing for a difficult assignment instead of a dinner.”

“Yeah. It is a difficult assignment.”

“Zach, you’re attending a gala, not going to war.”

“The difference is that at least people know when a war is over.”

She covered her mouth as she laughed. “Mr. Sterling, you’re good at making me laugh.”

“Oh, I’m glad to hear that…”
