They kept talking about the gala and the business discussions expected that evening. Zachary explained that several company leaders would attend, and the dinner would offer opportunities to discuss partnerships and potential projects.

Although the event was presented as a social gathering, most of the guests would probably spend the night talking about contracts, investments, and future business arrangements.

Sienna listened while occasionally asking questions, even though she knew Zachary wasn’t particularly interested in attending. She enjoyed hearing him talk about his work, especially when he explained things in his quiet, practical way.

Their conversation wasn’t overly serious, and she appreciated that they could move easily between business matters, teasing, and affectionate remarks.

After a while, Zachary glanced at the time and told her he needed to prepare for the gala.

“My love, I should get ready soon,” he said. “I’ll have to leave for dinner shortly.”

“All right. Don’t let them trap you in a conversation for three hours.”

A soft chuckle could be heard from the other end. “No worries, my love, I will try to escape.”

“…And make sure you eat something, too. You can’t spend the entire night looking serious and frightening everyone.”

“Hahaha, my love, I don’t frighten everyone.”

Sienna raised her eyebrows, even though he couldn’t see her. “Mr. Sterling, you frighten people without saying anything.”

“Do I frighten you?”

“Sometimes.”

A brief pause passed before he asked, “When?”

“When you look at me like you’ve already discovered something I haven’t told you.”

Zachary laughed softly. “You have nothing to worry about, my love.”

The words made Sienna’s heart skip for a different reason. She wondered whether he had somehow sensed that she was hiding something, but his tone remained relaxed. She decided not to give herself away and quickly returned to their earlier conversation.

“See you tomorrow. You said you’ll return after your morning meeting, right?”

“Yes. I’ll come back once my morning meeting is finished.”

“Then I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“See you. Enjoy your evening, Sienna.”

“You too, Zach. And try not to fall asleep at the dinner table.”

“I won’t promise that.”

She laughed as they exchanged a few more affectionate words before finally ending the call. Once the screen went dark, Sienna placed her phone on the sofa beside her and rested her back against the cushions.

A wide smile slowly spread across her lips as she thought about seeing Zachary the next day.

More importantly, she began imagining how she would tell him she was pregnant. She had already decided that she wanted the moment to be special, but she hadn’t yet figured out exactly how to do it.

Her first idea was to prepare a romantic dinner and place a small gift beside his plate. Inside the box, she could put a pair of baby socks. Zachary would open the gift, stare at the socks, and probably remain silent for so long that she would have to ask him whether he knew what they meant. She could already imagine him looking at her with a serious expression before quietly asking, “Are these for Sky?”

Sienna burst into laughter at the thought. That plan might not work at all.

Her second idea was to buy a small cake with the words “Congratulations, Daddy” written across the top. She imagined placing it in front of him and waiting for his reaction. However, she quickly realized that Zachary might assume the cake was for his birthday, a business achievement, or some family celebration. She would have to explain the message before he started wondering why someone had congratulated him.

She abandoned the idea right away.

“Maybe I should write, ‘You’re going to be a father again.'”

She immediately shook her head.

“No, that would be too obvious. He’ll understand before I even sit down.”

Another idea came to her.

She could prepare a small gift for Skylar and ask him to give it to his father. Perhaps she could put a note inside that said, “Dad, I’m getting promoted as a big brother.”

The thought made her smile because Skylar would probably be excited to deliver the message. But he might also tell Zachary about the surprise before she was ready.

“Sky would probably announce it the moment his father walked through the door,” she said, imagining her son’s excitement. “And then my entire surprise would be ruined.”

She considered one more plan: hiding a pregnancy test inside a gift box and asking Zachary to open it. But she quickly rejected that idea too. If he saw the test without any explanation, he might think she was giving him a medical sample instead of sharing wonderful news.

Knowing her husband, he would probably examine the box carefully and ask why she had decided to give him something from the hospital.

Sienna pressed a hand over her mouth, laughing at the image in her mind.

“Gosh! Why is surprising my own husband quite challenging? Or am I an overthinking perfectionist? Ugh. I hope not.”

Sienna leaned back and continued thinking, coming up with several more ideas that sounded perfect in her imagination but became ridiculous whenever she considered how Zachary might react.

She could place a note on his pillow, prepare a special breakfast, or even give him a tiny pair of shoes. But each plan had one problem: Zachary wasn’t always quick to understand hints, and she didn’t want to spend half the day explaining her surprise.

In the end, Sienna realized that thinking about the reveal hadn’t helped her decide anything. She had come up with several possible plans, but none of them felt completely right.

“Come on, Sienna, stop overthinking about your hilarious plan,” she said with a smile, amused by her own imagination. “Just wait until tomorrow to see what happens. Maybe the perfect moment will come naturally when you see him…”

Yes, she decided not to worry about it any longer. She pushed herself up from the sofa and left the bedroom, suddenly aware that she was hungry. Again. Dinner wouldn’t be served for another two hours, but her stomach was already demanding something to eat.

As she walked toward the kitchen, she smiled to herself.

If Arthur reported her appetite to Zachary again, she would make sure he included the extra snacks in his next report.
