The Billionaire's Heir I Never Knew Was Mine
Chapter 346: Congratulation
“Mother, I only want to know whether everything is fine, as their family doctor,” Scott said, his voice still cheerful but now with a professional mannerism.
Linda gave him an amused look. “Oh, not this one, son. For this kind of case, I’m their family doctor. Moreover, Zachary will be angry if he finds out that you begged me to tell you the results before him…he might beat you…”
That made Scott pause, as if something had struck him. “Ow. Yeah. You have a point.”
Sienna lowered her gaze to hide her smile. She could easily imagine Zachary’s reaction if Scott learned about the pregnancy before he did. Her husband might stay quiet, but she knew he would be annoyed that his friend got such important news before him.
“Fine. I’ll leave,” Scott finally agreed, though he sounded as if he were making a great sacrifice. “But please let me know if anything is wrong.”
“Scott, I’m a doctor. I know what I’m doing,” Linda replied, waving him away.
“I know. That’s why I trust you to take care of my sister-in-law.”
“Then trust me from outside the room, young man!”
Scott laughed softly, then looked at Sienna. “I’ll see you later, sister-in-law.”
“All right,” Sienna replied.
He finally stepped out and closed the door behind him.
Once he was gone, Sienna turned her full attention toward Linda. The brief humor between mother and son had helped distract her, but now that they were alone, her nervousness returned. She looked at the medical file on the desk, wondering what information it contained.
Linda noticed her anxious expression and offered her a reassuring smile before saying, “Sienna, before I tell you the result, I want you to take a deep breath. You seem very nervous.”
“I am,” Sienna admitted honestly. “I’ve been experiencing several symptoms, and I think I already know what they mean. But I still need to hear it from a doctor.”
“That’s understandable. Nausea, sensitivity to certain smells, and a missed period can all be signs of pregnancy. However, other conditions can cause similar symptoms. That’s why we rely on the examination and test results rather than assumptions.” Linda glanced down at the report once more, then looked back at her with a growing smile. “But in your case, the results are clear.”
Sienna held her breath.
“Sienna, congratulations. You are pregnant.”
For a moment, Sienna couldn’t process the words. She stared at Linda, unable to move or respond as the doctor’s voice continued.
“According to the records here, you’re approximately six weeks pregnant.”
“Six weeks…”
“Yes. I’ll still arrange the necessary follow-up examinations and an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy’s development and make sure everything is progressing normally.”
Sienna barely heard the rest of the explanation. The moment Linda confirmed that she was pregnant, overwhelming happiness rushed through her.
It felt as if an entire zoo had suddenly come alive inside her stomach, celebrating so loudly that she could hardly think clearly. Her body felt light and unsteady at the same time, and her eyes quickly filled with tears.
‘Oh God, I was pregnant again. I was carrying Zachary’s child.’
The thought struck her with such force that she pressed her trembling hands together on her lap before slowly raising them to touch her belly.
She had wanted to hear this news so badly, but she hadn’t realized how deeply it would affect her when the answer finally came. A second child meant that Skylar would have a younger sibling, and Zachary would become a father again.
‘Oh, God. Thank you. Thank you. I’m finally carrying Zach’s child again.’
She repeated the words silently, her fingers tightening as she tried to hold back her tears. Her heart was overflowing with happiness, and she suddenly wanted nothing more than to hear Zachary’s voice. She wanted to call him immediately, tell him the news, and hear the silence that would surely follow when he realized what she had said.
She could already imagine his reaction. Zachary might not say much, but she knew his eyes would change, and he would probably pull her into his arms the moment he saw her.
Linda watched her carefully and gave her a gentle smile. “You look very happy.”
Sienna nodded, unable to stop the smile spreading across her face. “I am. I’m really happy.”
“That’s good, but remember that you still need to take care of yourself. Your nausea seems quite severe, so we’ll discuss ways to manage it. You also need to rest, eat small meals when you can, and return for your follow-up appointments.”
Sienna quickly nodded. “I will. I promise.”
Linda closed the file and leaned back in her chair. “And you should tell your husband soon. He’ll need to know so he can support you.”
Sienna’s smile widened as she thought about surprising Zachary, but now he is on a business trip. She worries that if she calls him now, he might fly back to meet her and abandon his work.
“I will tell him when he returns from his business trip…”
Linda laughed softly. “Then you should probably keep Scott away from him until you have the chance.”
Sienna let out a quiet laugh, finally allowing her happiness to settle over her. “That might be difficult. He’s already curious.”
“He’s always been curious,” Linda replied. “But don’t worry. I’ll make sure he doesn’t ruin your surprise.”
“Thank you, Linda…”
Sienna lowered her gaze, resting one hand over her stomach even though there was no visible change yet. She knew the baby was still tiny, but the knowledge that a new life had already begun inside her filled her with a happiness she couldn’t describe.
She wanted to share it with Zachary immediately. Yet, deep inside, she also wanted to hold on to this precious secret and keep it to herself for a little longer.
Overwhelmed with happiness, she felt her headache and nausea mattered less now. All she could think about was her second pregnancy; she wouldn’t be alone again, as Zachary and their son, Skylar, would be with her.
