The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress

Chapter 1300 - 1240: A Shattered Dream

Before Josie came, she had plotted everything well; she didn’t expect Night Owl to see through it so quickly, and in a fit of rage, Night Owl destroyed her face.

She was unwilling, yet she could only resign to her fate.

At this point, Josie stopped daydreaming; as good as Adrian Desmond was, he wasn’t as important as her own life.

"Lithium, just let me go secretly, the master won’t know."

Lithium looked at this woman. Her face was terrifying; an ordinary person would have been scared to death, but for someone like Lithium, who crawled out of piles of dead bodies, Josie’s face wasn’t frightening—just a few cuts with blood flowing out.

"Josie, even now, you still don’t understand where you went wrong."

Of course, Josie knew where she went wrong; she shouldn’t have betrayed Night Owl.

"I know I was wrong, I know I shouldn’t have betrayed the master... but I’ve already become like this, why can’t you let me go?"

"No one can defy the master’s orders!" Lithium said coldly, like an emotionless robot, executing orders strictly.

Josie looked at Lithium’s face, knowing that people like Lithium were loyal to Night Owl. She knew she was doomed today.

Her beautiful dream, barely dreamed, was about to shatter.

"I just fell for Adrian Desmond... Lithium, I just fell for a man... Someday when you fall in love with a woman, you’ll understand..."

Under the moonlight, the man was handsome, his peach blossom eyes shimmering, and when he smiled at her, Josie was completely ensnared.

Lithium carried Josie to the ship’s rail. In this sea, there were sharks, especially savage great white sharks; each year, several unlucky ones were eaten by sharks.

"No! Lithium, I’m begging you, give me a way out." Josie pleaded as she cried; she didn’t want to die, she was only twenty.

In the distant ocean, shark fins emerged on the surface, weaving through the waters. Lithium said, "Sharks love fresh blood."

"No!" Josie screamed, gripping Lithium’s arm tightly, staring in horror at the shark fins exposed above the sea. If she were thrown into the ocean, she’d be bitten to death by sharks.

She didn’t want to die; she wanted to kill Night Owl and ask Adrian Desmond for a wish—one he promised to fulfill.

"Ah..."

Lithium ruthlessly threw Josie into the sea, watching the struggling woman on the water’s surface, saying, "A traitor shall die without a burial."

In ocean legends, those who die in the sea have their souls imprisoned by the Ocean, never to reincarnate again.

So, to die at sea indeed means dying without a burial.

Josie’s face was covered in blood, painfully excruciating from the soaking seawater, but Josie couldn’t care about that now; she saw sharks, keenly sensing the smell of blood, closing in on her...

"No!"

The instinct for survival drove her quickly beneath the water, heading towards the yacht’s base and the propeller area, which was dangerous yet safe; at least she could temporarily evade the sharks by clinging to the propeller.

The scent of blood excited the three great white sharks, following its alluring aroma, swimming over.

The great white sharks were large, bigger than Josie herself. Josie’s whole body was trembling, feeling her heart numbing as she approached the propeller; afraid of being sucked in, she dared not get too close.

Unfortunately, Josie underestimated the sharks’ craving for fresh blood.

"Ah..."

...

Abyanabad Royal Mausoleum,

Sienna Johnson couldn’t see the way at all; she blindly groped along the wall, moving cautiously, probing her path.

Fortunately, she had good luck and didn’t encounter any traps or mechanisms; otherwise, she would have lost her life long ago.

After nearly an hour of walking, darkness finally faded before her eyes.

At a bend ahead, there was light; Sienna was both excited and anxious, those who have endured darkness cannot resist the call of light.

Worried about villains near the source of light, Sienna slowed her steps, moving gently, ensuring she made no sound.

Reaching the corridor’s end, she stood pressed against the wall, her ear against it, listening for any sounds. Hearing none, she cautiously peeked out, and was astounded by the sight.

A corridor about 50 meters long, lined with luminous pearls embedded on the walls, each the size of an adult’s fist.

"So many luminous pearls?"

Sienna confirmed no one was around and carefully walked over; standing beneath a luminous pearl, she thought to herself, the Royal Family of Abyanabad must indeed be wealthy.

Such a single luminous pearl was priceless; she never expected there’d be over twenty of them in the mausoleum.

However, Sienna was merely surprised for a moment before deciding to move on.

Her goal now was to leave the mausoleum before the food was depleted; she had no desire to die inside.

After passing through the fifty-meter corridor of luminous pearls, darkness returned ahead; Sienna didn’t want to stumble around blindly groping the walls, so she went back, planning to dig out a luminous pearl as a flashlight.

Sienna looked at the luminous pearl embedded in the wall, touching the slippery wall, poking at it with her dagger. She wondered if the mausoleum’s age caused dust to fall off the wall.

"It seems, extracting a luminous pearl isn’t hard." Sienna said happily.

The luminous pearl was positioned a bit high for her; Sienna stood on tiptoes, prying along its edges with her dagger.

It was harder than expected; her arm was sore from effort, yet she hadn’t managed to dislodge it.

"Damn it!"

Sienna looked helplessly at the luminous pearl overhead.

Sienna wiped her face, squatted below the luminous pearl; the bright area offered her a sense of safety.

She took a sip of water, resting momentarily, before planning to resume the attempt later; needing a "flashlight" for illumination.

"Adrian Desmond..." Sienna crouched hugging her knees, desperately hoping Adrian would descend from the sky to rescue her.

Just like years ago, when she desperately drifted in the sea, nearly consumed by sharks—Adrian drove his ship, descending from the sky, rescuing her amidst her despair and distress.

Her eyes stung, and Sienna wiped them, realizing she’d begun to cry.

"Adrian, back then you were like a pirate!" she chuckled softly, adding, "But a very handsome pirate."

"..."

"Damn it, it’s been so long, you’re still not rescuing me; you didn’t really fall for that impostor, did you?"

Night Owl had spoken to her about placing an identical woman next to Adrian Desmond.
