The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1299 - 1239: The Consequences of Betrayal
"She’s Josie?" Lithium asked in disbelief.
"..."
"How is that possible? Back then she was with Adrian Desmond, the two of them were so close, how could she be fake?" Lithium finally asked the question weighing on his mind.
Night Owl had sent Josie to Adrian Desmond, but Adrian didn’t fall for it at all. They’d all thought Adrian had already gotten rid of Josie.
Josie lowered her head, completely at a loss as to how she should react right now.
At a time like this, should she deny it to the death, or come clean for a lighter sentence?
Just as Josie was torn and hesitating, Night Owl stood up and walked barefoot to stand in front of her.
The rage rolling off Night Owl made the back of Josie’s shirt soak with sweat. She hadn’t suffered his methods herself, but she had definitely heard about them.
Any woman who fell into his hands would be better off dead.
"...What are you talking about? I’m Sienna Johnson."
"Josie, it’s already come to this and you’re still going to put on a show in front of me?" Night Owl said furiously.
The counterfeit he’d created had actually been mistaken by Adrian Desmond for the "real thing" and tossed back at him to trick him. God knows what Adrian had done to actually tame the counterfeit he’d painstakingly made.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about. I am Sienna Johnson!" Josie refused to admit it.
She was Sienna Johnson, she would be Sienna from now on. Once she killed Night Owl, she could go back to Adrian Desmond’s side.
If Night Owl was capable of subduing the real Sienna and making her perfectly obedient, fine. If not, she had plenty of ways to deal with Sienna.
She had her eye on Adrian Desmond. She wasn’t going to share that man with Sienna.
"If you don’t believe I’m real, then let me go back, send me back to Adrian Desmond," Josie said again.
Night Owl wiped his lips with the back of his hand. That kiss just now had disgusted him. No wonder Adrian hadn’t been fooled—fake is fake; no matter how close the appearance, the inside is different.
"Please, I’m begging you, let me go back."
Josie tilted her head up to look at Night Owl, tears falling. She knew this man had feelings for Sienna, and tried to use this "Sienna" face to move him.
Lithium pressed his lips together as he stared at the woman in front of him. He could feel something was off too. Sienna Johnson was tough and cunning—how could she bow her head to Night Owl like this woman?
The anger drained from Night Owl’s face; his cold black eyes were full of frost. Just one look at them was enough to freeze a person stiff.
Josie didn’t dare say another word.
Night Owl said, "Bring Beryllium here."
Lithium didn’t understand why Night Owl suddenly wanted Beryllium. He glanced at Josie, then turned to go look for him.
Beryllium was a shut‑in; when he didn’t have a mission, he stayed in his room. So Lithium went to Beryllium’s room first, only to find it empty.
He went to the dining room and asked the chef. The chef said Beryllium had left before finishing his curry.
Lithium went up to the deck, searched around, and still didn’t find Sabrina Conner. "That’s weird, where did he go?"
The yacht was only so big, surrounded by water on all sides. There was nowhere to go even if you wanted to stroll.
Since Night Owl wanted to see Beryllium and Lithium couldn’t find him for the moment, he had no choice but to mobilize everyone to search.
After running around for ten minutes, turning the yacht inside out, bow to stern, they still couldn’t find Beryllium.
"Lithium, we didn’t find him. We’ve checked everywhere," Mason came up to Lithium and reported.
Lithium stood on the deck, staring out at the boundless Ocean, wondering where Beryllium could have gone. Ocean on all sides—could he have jumped overboard?
"Mason, send a few men to check under the hull."
Twenty minutes ago he’d still seen Beryllium. In such a short time, where could he have gone?
Mason led some men and dove into the Ocean to search under the hull and along the sides of the ship. Lithium still hadn’t found Beryllium, so he had to report to Night Owl first.
Knock, knock...
Lithium opened the door and stepped in. The stench of blood hit him in the face. He lowered his gaze and saw Night Owl standing there, idly playing with a blood‑stained dagger.
"Master, Beryllium is missing. We’ve searched the whole ship and still haven’t found him."
Lithium looked down and saw Josie’s entire face sliced into a bloody mess by a knife. She was kneeling there, trembling all over, not daring to make a sound.
Clearly, this woman wasn’t Sienna Johnson but Josie; otherwise Night Owl wouldn’t have gone this hard on her.
"What do you mean, you can’t find him?" Night Owl asked, his voice low and sinister.
Lithium felt his scalp prickle as he said, "We searched the entire yacht and still couldn’t find him. I’m thinking maybe Beryllium fell overboard—we’re having people search the Ocean right now."
Night Owl laughed. "You’re not trying to tell me Beryllium fell into the Ocean and drowned, are you?"
Death Island was surrounded by Ocean. From childhood, their training included swimming, deep diving, breath‑holding... Everyone from Death Island was an expert swimmer.
How could Beryllium possibly drown?
Who’s ever heard of a fish drowning?
Night Owl paced barefoot around the room, his gaze dropping to Josie’s expression again and again. Josie’s face throbbed with piercing pain, but she didn’t dare make a sound, afraid of angering Night Owl and losing her life.
Lithium stood with his head down, barely daring to breathe. Night Owl was really angry.
After walking for a while, Night Owl suddenly stopped. He raised his voice and ordered Lithium, "Take more men and go to the Imperial Mausoleum immediately!"
"Huh?"
"Sienna Johnson is definitely still inside the Imperial Mausoleum," Night Owl said with absolute certainty.
Lithium couldn’t keep up with Night Owl’s train of thought for the moment. Hadn’t Beryllium said Sienna was rescued by Adrian Desmond? Why was Night Owl so sure she was still in the mausoleum?
"Why are you standing there blankly? Didn’t you hear what I said?"
"Yes."
"Wait! Take everyone on the yacht with you. If you don’t bring Sienna Johnson back, none of you need to come back at all."
"Yes."
"Hold on!" Night Owl called him back again. Staring at Lithium, he said, "Forget it, I’ll go personally."
Even now Lithium still didn’t know what had happened. When it came to Night Owl’s decisions, all he and the others could do was obey unconditionally. Questioning was never an option. If Night Owl ordered them to die, they had no choice.
"Throw this woman into the Ocean," Night Owl ordered.
Lithium went over and grabbed Josie’s arm, trying to haul her up. Josie was so terrified she’d gone limp. Lithium had no choice but to pick her up and carry her up the stairs toward the deck.
"Please, don’t kill me!"
Once she was out of Night Owl’s line of sight, Josie seemed to come back to life. Clutching her face, she pleaded with Lithium in agony.
"You’re actually fake?!" Lithium hadn’t noticed at all.
Josie shoved all the blame onto Adrian Desmond. "It’s not my fault, Adrian forced me to do it."
"..."
"I’m already like this... I’m begging you, spare my life."
