The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1276 - 1216: Then I’ll Marry You
Adrian Desmond came out of the hospital and went to the school to pick up his daughter.
Usually, it was Kathryn who picked up Curly, but since Adrian was returning to Abyanabad and didn’t know when he would come back, he specially came to pick her up.
Adrian planned to use this short time to spend with her.
"Bye-bye, see you tomorrow." At the school gate, Curly waved goodbye to her classmates and teachers and walked out with George.
"Curly!" Adrian called.
"Daddy..." Curly was so excited to see Adrian at the school gate, she rushed over, and Adrian bent down to pick her up, "Not much homework today, right?"
Curly pressed her lips together and said, "There’s a lot. When is there ever not a lot of homework?" Curly showed her hand to her father and said, "Dad, look, my hand has calluses from writing."
"Let me see." Sure enough, Adrian saw a thin callus on Curly’s finger, and he said, "How about we transfer to another school and not stay here?"
"Hey, all schools are the same everywhere. I have friends from kindergarten who go to other schools and have the same experience.
The homework is overwhelming..." Curly sighed.
"If there’s too much homework and you can’t finish it, then just don’t do it," Adrian indulged.
Curly was now understanding, knowing that some things couldn’t be done, like not doing homework—it was wrong.
"Dad, you don’t know how outrageous our teacher was today." Curly complained to her father.
"What happened?"
Adrian got in the car holding Curly, and she kept on complaining, "Today in math class, we were learning addition and subtraction, and a classmate didn’t understand. He asked the teacher, do you know how the teacher responded?"
"How did he respond?"
Curly mimicked the teacher’s tone and said, "Nathan, I’ve already covered addition and subtraction in my tutoring class, and most of the class knows it, so I’m not going to cover it in class.
Dad, you see how outrageous our teacher is. How can he act like that?
If that’s how it is, then we don’t need to go to school, we should just attend his tutoring class."
"..."
"Hmph! That’s exactly what he wants, for us all to join his tutoring class so he can make money. I’m not signing up; I won’t let him earn my money."
Neither George nor Curly signed up for Mr. Li’s tutoring class. Curly was stingy and didn’t want to waste money, and George was smart, always doing well in his courses. With that time, he’d rather cultivate his relationship with Curly.
After all, George was determined to stay in Orienta just to make Curly fall in love with him and marry him.
"George, you’re not allowed to sign up either!" Curly said to George.
"Oh, okay."
Adrian thought his daughter was the best, "You’re so smart, you don’t need to sign up."
"Exactly, I’m not signing up." Anyway, with George around, if there was something she didn’t know, she could ask George to teach her. It was free, might as well use it.
Adrian took Curly to McDonald’s, for fried chicken legs, burgers, Coke... and the little girl was delighted, all the troubles at school were gone.
"Dad, when mom gets back, don’t tell her we came to McDonald’s. If mom finds out, she’ll start nagging again," Curly said softly, as if Sienna Johnson were nearby.
"Okay."
Curly looked at the chicken leg burger, her mouth greasy from eating, and Adrian didn’t have much appetite, just watching Curly eat.
"Dad, why aren’t you eating?"
"I ate too much this morning, so I’m not hungry now."
Curly smiled and asked, "Dad, was the breakfast I made for you delicious?"
"It was delicious."
"Then I’ll make it for you again tomorrow."
Adrian’s eyes darkened. Watching his daughter’s happy face, he still decided to tell her, "Daddy has to go back to Abyanabad in a while."
Curly suddenly lifted her head, "Daddy, you’re leaving again?"
"Daddy has to go find mom."
Holding the burger in her hand, Curly lost her appetite. Adrian’s big hand gently patted her head, comforting her, "Daddy will try to come back early."
"Okay, next time, daddy, come back with mommy," Curly beamed at Adrian.
"Mm."
...
Because Adrian had to leave, Curly lost her appetite for food as well. After leaving McDonald’s, Curly insisted on taking Adrian to the airport.
After sending her father off, Curly clung to George and started sobbing loudly, scaring George quite a bit.
"Didn’t your father say he’d be back soon? Don’t be sad..."
"George, I miss my mom and dad..."
"I know."
"George, don’t you miss your mom and dad?"
George had always lived next to the Johnson Family on Flower and Fruit Mountain, only going home during the winter and summer breaks. Meanwhile, as soon as Adrian left, she missed her dad already. She didn’t understand why George didn’t live with his parents.
"I do."
"Then why don’t you go home?"
"One, to keep my grandpa company. He’s very old and lonely being alone, and two, of course, it’s for you," George said aggrievedly, "You already don’t like me. If I returned to Abyanabad, you’d forget about me in no time."
It’s something Curly would definitely do.
"...When we grow up, should we get married?" Curly said, red-eyed, looking at George. She pushed him and said, "Who wants to marry you?"
"Then I’ll marry you!"
Curly stared at him blankly, and George thought she didn’t understand, so he said, "Just like how your dad married your mom, I’ll marry you as well, is that okay?"
Curly looked at George, worrying for him, "George, can you have some ambition? As a man, you should focus on your career, not always on romantic feelings."
Curly had a knack for lecturing, one line after another. George thought through Curly’s words and said, "Pursuing you doesn’t count as having ambition?"
"George, I like boys who have dreams and aspirations, not someone as unambitious as you."
"Then what counts as ambition?"
Curly couldn’t answer, she didn’t know what counted as ambition either, "Anyway, go back to your own home and stop pestering me."
George bowed his head and thought for a moment, seeing Curly walking away, he chased after her and said from behind, "Then I guess I still have no ambition."
Curly turned her head and glanced at George, then suddenly started running. George reacted quickly and immediately ran after her.
This game of cat and mouse was something they played every few days, and the bodyguards had long grown accustomed to it.
The bodyguards watched those two little kids, resignedly chasing after them, and as they sighed inwardly, they thought it served them right to be at this age without girlfriends.
Look at that, chasing a girlfriend starting from childhood.
"Curly, slow down, you’ll fall."
"None of your business!"
"You’re my future wife, of course, I need to care about you!"
"Catch up with me first."
"I will definitely catch you!"
