Chapter 103: Chapter 102: Ice Awakened

Skyline Grand Hotel, 10th floor. Inside a luxurious suite.

The agonizing wails of a woman echoed continuously. Sun Wuyan’s eyes were utterly cold, completely disregarding her life or death as he moved with frantic intensity. Suddenly, his ears twitched. He seemed to catch a faint, almost imperceptible noise from outside the window.

"Ah!!"

But a second later, the woman’s even sharper scream completely drowned out the slight disturbance.

"Damn it, you stupid bitch!" Sun Wuyan slapped her butt viciously, cursing as his movements grew even rougher.

Seconds ticked by. Instead of fading, the strange noise outside grew clearer.

HISS... HISS...

The sound was like countless slippery scales rubbing against each other. Sun Wuyan’s face twitched slightly, an ominous premonition rising in his heart. He stopped, shoving the woman beneath him away, and haphazardly threw on his clothes.

Just as Sun Wuyan buckled his belt, the door was slammed open with a BANG. A pale-faced subordinate stumbled in, tumbling and crawling, and stammered, "Snakes, Mr. Sun, there are Black Snakes everywhere outside! They... they’re attacking from the south!"

"What?" Hearing this, Sun Wuyan’s stern face changed drastically for the first time. He rushed to the window on the other side of the suite and tore open the heavy curtains.

Beneath the curtain of rain, the water south of the hotel was churning like boiling water. Densely packed snake-like monsters surged from the south like a tidal wave, overlapping in countless layers. Twisting their bodies, they smashed through floating debris and shattered low walls, frantically assaulting the ground floor of the hotel building.

"Fuck!" He spun around and snapped, "Get Lü Shengli and the others. We’re heading out the back door."

Just as Sun Wuyan prepared to head down the stairwell, he heard a continuous string of screams from below, mixed with the angry hisses of the Black Snakes. He realized the swarm of snakes was spreading upstairs.

Sun Wuyan couldn’t help but curse angrily, "Why would the snake swarm head upstairs? Unless..." He thought of a terrifying possibility.

At that moment, about twenty Awakened rushed up from downstairs instead. The leader shouted, "Mr. Sun, downstairs is full of snakes! Run, run!"

"Escape through the windows! It’s every man for himself." There were simply too many snakes. Even with their formidable individual strength, they would be worn down and killed by sheer exhaustion.

The order given, Sun Wuyan didn’t hesitate for a second. He turned and sprinted deep into the suite, toward a window facing the rear of the hotel. This was the 10th floor. He pushed open the window, and rain mixed with gale-force winds blew into his face. At a vertical height of nearly thirty meters above the water, there were only a few scattered snakes below, far fewer than at the south entrance.

"Mr. Sun, wait for us!" several subordinates shouted from behind.

Downstairs, denser screams and sounds of combat were already echoing, accompanied by the unique hisses of the Black Snake Monsters. The snake swarm was rapidly creeping upward.

"There’s no time! Jump!" A vicious glint flashed in Sun Wuyan’s eyes. Without waiting for the others, he leaped from the tenth-story window.

WHOOSH!

The freezing rain whipped wildly across his face. The weightlessness of the fall washed over him. But the moment his body plummeted less than two meters, a biting chill suddenly erupted from beneath his feet.

CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!

Moisture in the air condensed, and layers of crystal-clear Ice Crystal stairs, emanating a bone-chilling cold, materialized out of thin air under his boots. Sun Wuyan tapped his toes on the ice stairs, using the momentum like an antelope bounding between steep cliffs. Every step drastically slowed his descent. The ice stairs continuously extended, shattered, and condensed once more further down beneath his feet.

Behind him, four figures also vaulted out. Using their own unique methods, they leaped from the building. Following the four figures were more and more Awakened.

Inside the building across the way, Han Ning immediately locked onto the man descending on ice steps from the tenth-floor window of the hotel opposite them.

"Is he Sun Wuyan?" Han Ning asked.

"Yes, that’s him! The ones behind him are the remaining Captains of the Hexagram!" the two captives replied in trembling voices.

"Kill them."

The moment Han Ning’s words fell, two vines shot out like lightning, piercing through the two captives’ heads. He jumped onto the windowsill and pushed off. The concrete sill exploded under the force as he shot into the curtain of rain like a cannonball. In midair, Dark Gold fur grew wildly, and with a cacophony of cracking bones, he transformed into a three-meter-tall Molten Gold Battle Tiger, lunging straight at Sun Wuyan.

ROAR!

The tiger’s roar shook the heavens. The tangible sonic waves exploded outward, sending ripples through the air and shattering the newly condensed ice steps beneath Sun Wuyan’s feet inch by inch.

"Who is it?!" Sun Wuyan’s pupils shrank to pinpricks. He forcefully twisted his body and frantically waved his hands. Piercing cold Energy frantically gathered, instantly condensing in front of him into an Ice Shield that was twenty centimeters thick and two meters tall, its surface covered in jagged, terrifying ice spikes.

BOOM!!

Carrying waves of Molten Gold heat, Han Ning’s tiger claws slammed against the Ice Shield.

"Stop him!" Sun Wuyan only had time to bellow.

Ice shards mixed with scorching steam exploded outward. The Ice Shield trembled violently, and before half a second had passed, spiderweb-like cracks spread across it. Immediately after, the immense force sent him flying backward, crashing into the water.

SPLASH SPLASH!

The others successively plunged into the water.

The four Captains behind him reacted extremely fast. One waved their arms, forming a massive arm made entirely of white Energy. Another blasted a scorching ray from their palms. Both attacks hurtled straight for Han Ning’s head. Another’s figure blurred, turning into a gray line that circled to Han Ning’s side, wielding a short blade gleaming with a chilling light. The final person pressed both hands to the ground, turning the flowing water into ropes that grabbed at Han Ning’s ankles.

"Your opponents are us!" Chairman Wu roared, transparent bubbles appearing all around him.

POP POP POP!

Countless bubbles shot out as if fired from a bubble gun. These bubbles refracted a peculiar Spiritual Fluctuation among each other, radiating toward everyone except Han Ning. Anyone swept by the fluctuation found the Energy they released trembling slightly, stalling for a split second.

Lin Qianqian’s bowstring vibrated continuously as she fired three arrows wreathed in a glowing white light. They shot toward the giant Energy fist, the watery chains below, and the gray shadow at Han Ning’s side.

The Awakened behind Chairman Wu and the Awakened behind Sun Wuyan clashed, engaging in fierce combat. The collision of the Awakened’s Energy swept in all directions. The battlefield was instantly and intentionally divided by the Awakened, who fought while retreating away from the direction of the snake swarm.

With the others providing cover, Han Ning no longer cared about the other Awakened, focusing his entire attention on Sun Wuyan. Seizing this gap, golden flames surged in Han Ning’s eyes. Without waiting for Lin Qianqian’s support to arrive, he directly shattered the watery ropes. Not even glancing at the gray shadow beside him, he raised his tiger claws again, smashing the incoming Fire Line with a single swipe. He leapt with his hind legs, pouncing toward Sun Wuyan in the water.

"Ice Prison!" Sun Wuyan hastily flipped up from the water, shaking off the blood from the corner of his mouth. With a sinister look in his eyes, he violently clapped his hands together.
