Chapter 104: Chapter 103: Arriving on the Waves

Centered around him, a piercing cold wave erupted in a ring. The accumulated water underfoot froze into solid ice with a series of loud CRACKs. Countless sharp ice spikes broke through the surface, spreading toward Han Ning like blooming ice lotuses. At the same time, several rotating Ice Crystal prisms condensed in front of him again, refracting cold light in an attempt to confuse Han Ning’s vision.

"This guy isn’t weak. He’s at least Level 5," Han Ning thought grimly.

SIZZLE SIZZLE SIZZLE!

Bearing intense heat, the Molten Gold Tiger Claw struck the ice spikes, vaporizing them into billowing white mist. However, there were simply too many overlapping layers of ice, frantically draining the heat from his claws. Han Ning’s tiger body shuddered as thick white frost instantly formed on his Dark Gold fur, visibly slowing his movements.

"Die!" Seizing the opportunity, a cold glint flashed in Sun Wuyan’s eyes. A nearly transparent Ice Cone condensed at his fingertips. Silent and fast as lightning, it shot straight toward Han Ning’s Molten Gold Tiger Eyes. This vicious strike contained more than half of his Energy and was easily enough to pierce flesh.

"I was waiting for this! ROAR!"

Han Ning opened his tiger maw and blasted out an extremely concentrated Molten Gold Fire Pillar. The scorching torrent instantly engulfed and vaporized the incoming Ice Cone, continuing with unabated momentum toward the Ice Crystal prisms in front of Sun Wuyan.

CRACK! HONG LONG!

Under the terrifying heat, the Ice Crystal prisms melted away one after another.

"What a monster... No wonder Lei Gang and the others died at his hands. His strength is already comparable to those freaks in the military!" Sun Wuyan’s expression changed drastically. He hastily erected layers of ice walls in front of himself, but the Hot Breath was unstoppable, melting through the barricades like paper. The scorching shockwave slammed into him, scattering his protective cold aura. His clothes were charred black across his chest, and his skin burned with agony.

"Argh!" Sun Wuyan staggered backward with a blackened chest, horror finally showing in his eyes. His proud Ice Ability was completely suppressed by his opponent’s overwhelmingly tyrannical heat.

"Three-Layer Ice Prison!"

Sun Wuyan’s pupils dilated, and his face paled.

SWISH SWISH SWISH!

The air temperature plummeted rapidly as a square, frost-radiating prison formed around Han Ning, sealing him inside. Outside this enclosure, two more concentric layers materialized in quick succession. Faced with Han Ning’s relentless and ferocious pounces, Sun Wuyan had no way to fight back; he could only continuously condense ice walls for Defense.

HISS HISS HISS!

Right at that moment, a scalp-tingling chorus of hisses swept in from the south like a tsunami. The sound was so close it felt mere meters away. The water surface near a corner not far off began to churn. Countless slippery silhouettes surged toward the battlefield, slithering along the exterior walls and streets. The snake swarm had arrived.

"We’re out of time!" Chairman Wu roared at Han Ning, forcing an enemy back with a bubble.

Lin Qianqian pursed her lips, continuously drawing her bowstring. Her physical arrows had been depleted long ago; she was now firing projectiles made purely of white Energy. It was incredibly similar to the opposing enemy who manipulated white Energy. The oppressive presence of the snake swarm blanketed the Awakened of both sides indiscriminately.

Han Ning’s tiger eyes swept over the approaching black tide, then locked fiercely onto the breathless Sun Wuyan. His killing intent boiled to its absolute peak.

"Cheap tricks! Die!"

The muscles of his tiger body swelled another size, his Dark Gold fur standing on end like a blazing inferno. With a single swat, he shattered the Three-Layer Ice Prison. The massive tiger claw swiped at Sun Wuyan’s head with indomitable momentum. Wherever the gale of his claw passed, rainwater evaporated, and the air distorted!

Terrified out of his wits, Sun Wuyan frantically poured all his cold energy into the ice underfoot.

"Ice Wall!"

An incredibly thick barrier of ice shimmering with a dark blue luster instantly erupted from the ground to block his front!

BOOM, CRACKLE!!!

The tiger claw smashed into the dark blue Ice Wall. Amidst the deafening explosion, the Ice Wall trembled violently as countless cracks instantly webbed across its entirety.

SQUELCH! SQUELCH! SQUELCH!

In the instant he put his all into maintaining the Ice Wall, three dark green vines shot out from the shattered ice beneath his feet without any warning. They coiled tightly around his legs and waist, their sharp Wooden Thorns stabbing viciously into his flesh.

"What?!" Stricken by agonizing pain, Sun Wuyan’s Energy fell into chaos.

The Molten Gold heat on Han Ning’s tiger claw exploded.

BOOM!

Unable to hold on any longer, the already cracked dark blue Ice Wall shattered into a sky full of Ice Crystals. The scorching tiger claw tore through the icy mist without resistance and slammed into the Ice Crystal-covered arms that Sun Wuyan had hastily raised.

CRACK.

Sun Wuyan’s arms contorted and deformed at a grotesque angle. Screaming, his body was sent flying like a broken sack, his arms completely obliterated.

Never one to give his enemy a chance to breathe, Han Ning’s tiger body shadowed him relentlessly. While Sun Wuyan was still airborne and with nowhere to leverage his strength, the tiger claw struck out again. Five hook-like digits pierced straight into Sun Wuyan’s chest.

SQUELCH!

Scalding blood gushed out like a fountain. Sun Wuyan’s body stiffened. He stared down in disbelief at the Molten Gold Tiger Claw that had impaled his chest. He could feel the terrifying heat of the claw frantically incinerating his internal organs. The Ice Energy within his body was rapidly fading away.

"You... Colonel Zhao... won’t let you off..." He opened his mouth, forcing out a vicious threat. The unwillingness in his eyes quickly faded, ultimately turning into a pool of dead ash.

Han Ning’s gaze was freezing cold as his tiger claw abruptly clenched and tore backward.

RIP!

Sun Wuyan’s body was violently ripped in half. Viscera mixed with boiling hot blood splattered into the murky icy water, dyeing a large swath of it red. Thus, the ruthless Awakened boss who had dominated the west side of the city met an end without an intact corpse.

"Sun Wuyan is dead, retreat!" Seeing this, the remaining four Captains prepared to flee without another word. The boss was dead—what was the point of putting up a fight!

"Kill them!" Chairman Wu, Lin Qianqian, and the others experienced a great boost in Spirit. Gritting their teeth, they forcefully stepped up their offense.

"None of you are getting away." Han Ning snorted coldly. Watching the so-called "Four-Pointed Star" split up and flee, his body blurred, his Molten Gold frame flashing continuously. Vines scattered and shot out like torpedoes.

SQUELCH SQUELCH SQUELCH!

A rain of blood scattered through the air. In just a single encounter, all four of them were killed.

By the time Han Ning tore the last person to shreds, the hissing of the snake swarm was practically right in his ears.

"Brother Han, save Chairman Wu and Qianqian!"

He turned his head to look. Having stayed behind to cover their comrades’ retreat, Chairman Wu and Lin Qianqian were cut off at a corner by the Snake Monsters of the Black Tide, struggling to make their way over. The others were falling back while watching the two of them anxiously.

"Get over here!" More than ten vines shot out, wrapping around the waists of the two and hauling them back along with several nearby Awakened who were fighting to the death. Before everyone could finish gathering around him, Han Ning’s scalp began to tingle again, even more intensely than before.

SPLASH!

At the corner of the building, a five-meter-tall wall of waves abruptly surged upward. Atop the crest of the wave coiled an eight-meter-long serpentine body. Four massive arms covered in black scales slowly spread wide, gripping two roughly-textured Bone Blades as the creature charged aggressively toward them.

"HISS—SCREECH!"

The piercing shriek of the four-armed serpent head echoed across the battlefield. Brandishing the blades in its two upper arms, it aimed in the direction of Han Ning’s retreat, crossed its dual weapons, and slashed out forcefully.
