The Apocalypse Strikes, I Became a Druid
Chapter 102 Extreme Speed Yu
Chapter 102: Chapter 101: Extreme Speed Yu
Yu had an ordinary appearance, but his eyes shone brightly.
"Alright, Yu, I’m leaving this task to you," Han Ning said, his tone serious as he handed over the bottle and cotton swabs.
"Take this and move as fast as you can. Circle around to a spot about five kilometers away from our previous docking area. Find a conspicuous place, dip a swab into a small amount of the King’s Blood, and smear it there.
"After that, return immediately. Find one or two more spots along the way to smear a little bit more, and then bring the remaining King’s Blood back.
"Remember, you must be fast. Do not let anyone spot you, and absolutely do not get tangled up with any monsters. Avoid the hidden sentries I pointed out earlier. We’ll be waiting for you right here."
Yu took the bottle and nodded earnestly. "Don’t worry, Brother Han, I’ll definitely get it done!"
He vaulted onto the windowsill from a room at the back of the house and pushed off.
BOOM!
The aluminum window frame beneath his feet rattled slightly as a faint breeze scattered outward.
His figure blurred, shooting out like an arrow released from its bowstring. Leaping dozens of meters at a time, he vanished at the edge of their line of sight in just a few bounds. His speed was utterly staggering.
"He really is fast." Seeing the extreme speed Yu unleashed, Han Ning felt relieved.
The wait was not long. Time ticked by in the pouring rain. Everyone held their breath, observing their surroundings and keeping a close eye on any movement from the direction of the hotel. Han Ning kept his Molten Gold Eyes active the entire time, monitoring the sentries and any potential disturbances on the hotel’s upper floors.
"Han Ning, do you need an energy top-up?" Lin Qianqian asked softly, placing a hand on his shoulder. She came over to ask him this almost every single minute.
"Not right now. Save your strength for when it’s crucial," Han Ning said, shaking his head. Given his current Spiritual Power recovery rate, simply keeping the Molten Gold Eyes active resulted in a 1.1 to 1 ratio between consumption and recovery. The drain was negligible.
About seven minutes later.
WHOOSH.
A faint sound of something cutting through the wind approached from a distance. Yu’s figure floated lightly in front of everyone. His breathing was slightly ragged, but there were no signs of battle on his body.
He handed the small glass bottle, which still contained a bit of blood, back to Han Ning. A confident expression beamed on his face as he whispered, "Brother Han, mission accomplished. All three spots have been set up. It went smoothly; I wasn’t spotted."
"Beautifully done," Han Ning praised. He took the bottle, stared at the still-viscous dark red liquid inside, and poured a tiny drop onto the ground before continuing. "Let’s change locations. We’re circling around to the back of the hotel."
Led by Han Ning, the team moved like ghosts blending into the rainy night. They silently made a wide detour, evading all possible angles of surveillance, and eventually took cover in an old, seven-story residential building right behind the hotel. Along the way, they conveniently took out one of the hidden sentries stationed there.
More than half of the building’s first floor was submerged, but the second floor and above were largely intact. It was a perfect vantage point that offered a clear view of almost the entire rear of the hotel. Han Ning turned to Lin Qianqian and pointed at the upper silhouette of the hotel building, which flickered in and out of sight through the heavy rain. "Boss Lin, are you confident your arrow can reach the 12th floor at the back of the hotel from this height and distance?"
Lin Qianqian narrowed her eyes, estimating the distance and angle while getting a feel for the wind speed and the intensity of the rain. She gave a firm nod. "The straight-line distance is about sixty meters. No problem."
"Good. When I say shoot, let it fly without any hesitation."
Time trickled by, marked only by the monotonous sound of raindrops smashing against the water’s surface. The golden light in Han Ning’s Molten Gold Eyes shifted as his gaze pierced through layers of rain, locking firmly onto the Skyline Grand Hotel.
More than ten minutes later.
His ears twitched slightly, catching a nearly imperceptible noise hidden in the howling wind.
HISS... HISS.
It sounded like a pressure cooker letting off steam.
"They’re here!" Han Ning’s spirits lifted, breaking the silence.
Hearing this, everyone’s hearts tightened. Chairman Wu, Lin Qianqian, and the rest immediately pricked up their ears, listening intently.
HISS.
Amidst their tense breathing, the hissing of snakes drew closer and closer, until even Chairman Wu and the others could hear it faintly.
HISS... HISS...
The sound grew louder and louder! It was as if billions of poisonous snakes were rubbing their scales together in the dark. The distant water surface seemed to tremble under the sheer density of the hissing.
At the same time, panicked figures began flashing repeatedly across the windows of the grand hotel opposite them.
"What’s that noise?"
"Fuck! It’s the black snakes! The Black Snake Swarm is here!"
"Report to the boss immediately!"
Terrified shouts, chaotic footsteps, the clattering of objects... A chaotic mixture of sounds drifted out faintly from the windows across various floors of the hotel.
Han Ning unscrewed the cap of the small glass bottle without hesitation. A sickly, nauseating stench of blood instantly permeated the air. He snatched a Compound Bow arrow and a prepared bandage from Lin Qianqian’s hands. He wrapped the bandage tightly around the sharp arrowhead. Then, aligning the mouth of the bottle with the fabric, he poured every last drop of the viscous King’s Blood onto it. Finally, he even tied the empty glass bottle to the arrow shaft.
"Shoot this up to the 12th floor." Han Ning handed the blood-soaked arrow back to Lin Qianqian.
Without a second thought, Lin Qianqian took the arrow. She drew her bow and nocked the shaft.
HUM.
The string of the Compound Bow let out a low vibration.
SWISH!
The arrow drenched in the King’s Blood turned into a blurry black streak, tearing through the rain and flying with absolute precision into a half-open window on the hotel’s 12th floor.
"An Awakened like Sun Wuyan is hard to kill. My goal is just to force him out of hiding. If he stays holed up inside the building, we’ll be at a severe disadvantage," Han Ning said, his eyes constantly scanning the sides and rear of the hotel as he spoke rapidly.
"He’ll most likely run toward the sides or the back of the building.
"Whichever direction he chooses, I’ll be able to see him.
"The moment he appears, we rush up, intercept him, kill him quickly, and evacuate!
"He might have companions with him. Your objective is to hold the others back. If he’s alone, we all attack him together.
"Killing him is the top priority!"
This course of action was extremely dangerous; they could easily get caught up in the snake swarm. However, it was the best method Han Ning could think of to exact revenge on Sun Wuyan.
Executing any other plan would take too much time.
Take using Communication with Nature to ask about Sun Wuyan’s whereabouts, for instance. Setting aside whether it would even work, it would drain a massive amount of his Mental Power. If he launched an attack while his Mental Power was depleted, what would happen if the opponent possessed a powerful Spirit Attack? And if he waited for his spirit to recover before striking, what if the enemy had already relocated?
Once enough time had passed, Sun Wuyan would inevitably grow wary after noticing his subordinates hadn’t returned. By then, pinning him down again would be a monumental task.
On the other hand, if Sun Wuyan had a way to repel the snake swarm, they could still fall back and reconsider the Communication with Nature plan.
There was no foolproof strategy; every option had its pros and cons.
Han Ning decided to stop overthinking it.
Screw it, just get it done.
