The Aboveboard Assassin
Chapter 127 - 116: Shortcut to Godhood Item!
Chapter 127: Chapter 116: Shortcut to Godhood Item!
Prior to this, Yu Zhun had never heard of a hidden pathway. He had even planned out his First Turn choice in advance, intending to select the Profession most adept at close-quarters combat among the four: Extremely Evil Madman. However, even Extremely Evil Madman wasn’t a perfect match for his talent; it was merely relatively suitable.
If there was a hidden Profession that better suited Open and Aboveboard, Yu Zhun would become far more powerful after his First Turn! After all, talents, Professions, skills, and equipment complemented one another. The right Profession could maximize the effectiveness of a talent!
"A shortcut to becoming a God... A good choice," Demon 1663’s voice rang out. He had appeared beside Yu Zhun at some unknown point.
"A shortcut to becoming a God?" This was the first time Yu Zhun had heard such a phrase, and he couldn’t help but feel curious. "What does that mean?"
"Although an SSS-rank talent is strong, only the most suitable pathway can unleash its true power," Demon 1663 said calmly. "By taking a hidden pathway during the First Turn, the probability of advancing to a God will increase. This item isn’t expensive, but it only appears in the Divine Demon Store corresponding to the Nether Abyss Dungeon."
"The probability of advancing to a God will increase?" Yu Zhun pinched the Hidden Pathway Reassignment Card in his hand and took out twenty medals. "I want to exchange for it."
"There’s no need to rush." Demon 1663’s voice carried a hint of a smile. "You probably want to exchange for more than just that, right?"
"Yeah..." Yu Zhun nodded. "I need to exchange for a full set of Lv35 Legendary Equipment, preferably with a set enhancement effect." With over a hundred Legendary Fragments in his hands, when better to use them than now?
"Follow me." Demon 1663 turned and walked toward another shelf. On it rested clusters of objects shrouded in golden light. They shared a similar visual effect to the Legendary Fragments, but they were clearly complete pieces of equipment.
"The Legendary Equipment available for exchange in this Divine Demon Store is the Nether Series," Demon 1663 explained slowly. "If you wear five pieces of the same series set, the set enhancement can reach fifty percent."
"That high?" Yu Zhun was left speechless. Legendary Equipment already had much higher attributes than Epic Equipment, and with another fifty percent increase...
"The Nether Series Set comes in two grades: Epic and Legendary," Demon 1663 continued. "Five pieces of the Epic set can provide a thirty percent set enhancement. Since the Legendary grade is higher, the set enhancement is naturally greater. Besides that, Legendary Equipment possesses three advantages that Epic Equipment lacks." At this moment, Demon 1663 didn’t seem like a God at all; instead, he resembled a diligent and responsible salesperson. "First, Legendary Equipment can be worn in reality."
Yu Zhun nodded slightly to show he understood.
Zhu Zhe had mentioned this to him before. The attributes and skills from the Divine Revelation World could be brought into reality, but ordinary equipment could only be traded in the real world and couldn’t be manifested to wear. Therefore, Divine Revelation players in the real world were essentially blank slates, their strength vastly different from what they possessed in the Divine Revelation World.
Legendary Equipment, however, was an exception. Equipment of this level could bridge the boundary between reality and the Divine Revelation World, allowing it to be worn in both worlds simultaneously. As for the purpose of possessing greater strength and wearing Legendary Equipment in a reality without Dungeons, Zhu Zhe hadn’t told him yet. He had only mentioned that he would let Yu Zhun know if the opportunity arose in the future...
That was just typical behavior for Zhu "The Riddler" Zhe.
"Second, the Enhancement limit of Legendary Equipment breaks through the original restrictions, reaching a maximum Enhancement level of +25."
Yu Zhun nodded again. Zhu Zhe had also mentioned this. A +20 Enhancement was already incredibly powerful; Yu Zhun didn’t even dare to imagine the result of raising it by another five levels. However, considering the Enhancement Success rate for +20, going any further would likely be Hell-level difficulty.
"Third, and most importantly." Demon 1663 suddenly leaned close to Yu Zhun. The eerie mask made Yu Zhun involuntarily take a step back. "Every piece of Legendary Equipment has an effect pool consisting of twenty Equipment effects, from which the player can self-select four."
Self-select!
Yu Zhun took a deep breath, suppressing the excitement in his heart. Being able to choose the effects meant he could find the combination that suited him best! This was the true value of Legendary Equipment!
However, before Yu Zhun could finish celebrating, Demon 1663 spoke faintly, pouring a bucket of cold water over his head.
"A single piece of the Nether Series Legendary Equipment costs thirty Legendary Fragments. Buying the five-piece set offers a discount of ten, making the total price one hundred and forty."
"Hiss... that’s so expensive," Yu Zhun couldn’t help but click his tongue.
Zhu Zhe had previously told him that a piece of Legendary Equipment typically cost between twenty and thirty Legendary Fragments. This Nether Series was actually priced at the absolute maximum. Yu Zhun subconsciously wanted to try bargaining, but upon seeing Demon 1663’s faint gaze fixed on him, he silently abandoned the idea.
"I’ll take it!" Yu Zhun gritted his teeth. "If I don’t have enough Legendary Fragments, I can substitute them with Divine Demon Medals, right?"
"Yes, two medals for one fragment," Demon 1663 nodded.
Yu Zhun did some quick mental math. He only had 241 Divine Demon Medals left. With the mindset that spending a few more medals now to boost his strength would allow him to go further in the future, Yu Zhun decided to see what else was available for purchase.
He started from the first shelf, inspecting them one by one. Soon, he spotted the first item that caught his interest.
[Simulation Card: Bound item. Ownership cannot be changed. Allows for 10 Dungeon simulations to find the optimal strategy. Price: 10 Divine Demon Medals.]
"I’ll take this," Yu Zhun said, picking one up. It would be perfectly suited for the upcoming First Turn trial.
[Water of Life: Bound item. Ownership cannot be changed. Grants a 50% Life Value buff in a Dungeon. The effect lasts until the end of the Dungeon. Price: 5 Divine Demon Medals.]
"I’ll take this too," Yu Zhun decided decisively. The next time he entered a 4A Dungeon would likely be after the First Turn trial, and he wouldn’t have another opportunity to visit the Divine Demon Store before then. One could never have too many life-saving items.
After that, Yu Zhun saw quite a few things that made his eyes light up, but none of them were quite suitable for him. After some hesitation, he opted against them. Eventually, he stopped in front of the final shelf in the hall.
Every item here cost over a hundred Divine Demon Medals, and one particular object drew his attention.
[Life Substitution Stone: Bound item. Ownership cannot be changed. Upon death in a 4A Dungeon, triggers immediate Resurrection and forces an exit from the Dungeon. Price: 180 Divine Demon Medals.]
This was... a life-saving item! Although it was expensive, he had to secure it no matter what.
"I’ll take this as well!" Yu Zhun picked up the Life Substitution Stone without hesitation. "This is all I want."
After paying the fee, Yu Zhun stared at his remaining 46 Divine Demon Medals and suddenly felt a profound sense of poverty. Stowing the Hidden Pathway Reassignment Card, Simulation Card, Water of Life, and Life Substitution Stone into his inventory, Yu Zhun walked toward the Legendary Equipment shimmering with golden light on the other shelf.
Next, it was time to self-select the equipment effects. He started with the main defensive piece—Armor.
Yu Zhun reached his hand into the golden orb of light corresponding to the Armor, and twenty different equipment effects materialized before his eyes.
"Huh?"
After examining them carefully, a look of pleasant surprise washed over Yu Zhun’s face. Perhaps because they originated from the same source, he recognized quite a few familiar equipment effects among the options.
In that case, he would choose these four!
Once the effects were selected, the orb of light solidified into a brand-new piece of Armor and appeared in front of him.
[Nether Oath Demon Armor]
[Equipment Description: A powerful piece of Armor originating from the end of the Nether Abyss. The strongest power to protect what is about to fade stems from the depths of the heart!]
[Equipment Level: Lv35]
[Equipment Quality: Legendary (Golden)]
[Equipment Slot: Armor]
[Equipment Durability: 100]
[Equipment Attributes: Life Value +24000]
[Equipment Effect 1 (Watch): Upon entering a combat state, immediately gain a shield equal to 300% of maximum Life Value. Takes effect only once per battle.]
[Equipment Effect 2 (Life Substitution): When Life Value falls below 20%, immediately restore all Life Value. Takes effect only twice per battle.]
[Equipment Effect 3 (Pure Land): When restoring Life Value, excess Healing amount is transformed into an equivalent shield. Disappears after 30 seconds out of combat.]
[Equipment Effect 4 (Existence): When Life Value is not full and a shield is present, you can actively consume the shield to restore an equivalent amount of Life Value.]
Compared to his previous red Armor, Guardian of the Nether, the first three effects of the Nether Oath Demon Armor remained fundamentally unchanged, though they had all been enhanced. However, the fourth effect caused Yu Zhun’s survivability to soar.
