The Aboveboard Assassin
Chapter 126 - 116: A Shortcut to Godhood!
Chapter 126: Chapter 116: A Shortcut to Godhood!
"Am I about to enter the Divine Demon Store?" Yu Zhun wondered.
A wave of unprompted excitement surged in his heart. After guessing Zhu Zhe’s intention in secretly slipping him twenty Divine Demon Medals beforehand, Yu Zhun’s anticipation for the Divine Demon Store following the end of the Nether Abyss even surpassed his expectations for the Dungeon itself. He really wanted to know what exactly could make experts from so many servers go to such great lengths to obtain.
And soon, the answer would be revealed.
Taking advantage of the final countdown, Yu Zhun quickly took inventory of the gains he had acquired during this run of the Nether Abyss.
First was the harvest of experience points. In the total of eleven floors of the Nether Abyss, just killing the eleven bosses yielded a massive 9.5 million experience points. Coupled with the experience from killing the mobs, the total had already exceeded ten million. He wondered if this amount of experience would be enough to boost him straight to Level 35 in one go and switch to better Equipment once his experience bar was unlocked upon his profession reassignment.
Apart from the experience points, the other major gain was Red Equipment.
Although killing the final boss, Nether, on the last floor didn’t reward any Red Equipment, every one of the first ten floors did. Now, Yu Zhun had five selectable Level 25 Epic-grade Equipment and five selectable Level 30 Epic-grade Equipment in his possession. Although there was only a five-level difference, the distinction between the two was quite significant. The latter allowed the selection of Boots, whereas the former did not.
Besides the Red Equipment obtained from killing bosses, Yu Zhun’s other source of Red Equipment was killing players from other servers. In this Nether Abyss, the number of players Yu Zhun killed directly reached seven. However, these players had also killed others, claiming the Equipment they possessed. Those who could make it here basically all had five pieces of +20 Red Equipment. After this sweep, Yu Zhun had a full fifty-five pieces of Red Equipment looted from other players. Whether used as materials for Enhancement Transfer or for other purposes, this was a massive, unprecedented fortune for Yu Zhun.
Another harvest was the various items dropped by these players. These items were of all sorts and varieties, and Yu Zhun simply didn’t have the time to study them. He planned to dump them all onto Salas once he got back to let him tinker with them and see which ones could be replicated. This especially applied to the Divine Demon Compass, which could detect the number of Divine Demon Medals. It would be best if every guild member could have one.
Aside from these, the remaining gains were Legendary Fragments and Divine Demon Medals.
When Yu Zhun entered the Nether Abyss, he had twenty-seven Legendary Fragments on hand. After killing the final boss, Nether, he was rewarded with a full fifty more. In addition, after killing other players, he had successively found some Legendary Fragments in their inventories. His current total now reached 103 pieces.
As for the Divine Demon Medals, Yu Zhun obtained seven from killing the seven players. Fighting his way from the twenty-third floor all the way to the thirty-third floor and killing the bosses yielded a total of 125 medals. Zhu Zhe had secretly slipped him twenty beforehand. Adding the ones he looted from the inventories of the players he killed...
The total came to 335 medals.
Zhu Zhe had been absolutely right. The Nether Abyss was an extremely dangerous 4A Dungeon. Even with Yu Zhun’s talent and strength, he had encountered genuine life-and-death crises several times here. But high risk meant high reward, and now, it was time for those rewards to arrive.
As the ten-second countdown ended, Yu Zhun felt the world spin. In the next instant, he found himself standing in a magnificent hall. Rows of display shelves filled the hall, showcasing a vast array of items. Each one looked incredibly valuable.
"Welcome to the Divine Demon Store," a voice sounded beside Yu Zhun, snapping him out of his wide-eyed gazing.
Turning his head, he saw a figure cloaked in black robes and wearing a mask. The mask was extremely peculiar, split cleanly down the middle: the golden half was incomparably holy, while the black half was sinister and evil. The entity’s aura was lofty and supreme, as if it had transcended the mortal realm. To Yu Zhun, it felt hardly any different from a God.
"You can call me Demon 1663," the figure’s androgynous voice faintly echoed. "I am the clerk of this Divine Demon Store."
"A clerk?" Yu Zhun thought.
Such an incredibly down-to-earth term instantly shattered Demon 1663’s mysterious image. Yu Zhun’s mouth twitched slightly, but he immediately stopped dwelling on it.
"Do you have a price list for the items here?"
"Different shelves correspond to items of different prices," Demon 1663 said, pointing to the various shelves in the hall.
"Understood. I’ll take a look first." Yu Zhun spotted a shelf marked with twenty-medal items and dashed over in a single stride. Seven different items were displayed on the shelf.
After a quick glance, Yu Zhun’s eyes rapidly locked onto the one right in the middle. It was a card interwoven with black and golden colors, looking somewhat similar to a bank card. The word "Reassignment" was written on it.
"This should be it," Yu Zhun thought.
Thinking of his speculation, Yu Zhun strode forward and picked up the card.
[Hidden Pathway Reassignment Card: Bound item, owner cannot be changed. Using this card during the First Turn trial can unlock a Hidden Professional Path most suitable to one’s own talent.]
"A hidden pathway most suitable to my own talent?!" Yu Zhun’s eyes widened dramatically.
For all five Initial Professions, any attempt to continue advancing beyond Level 30 required passing the First Turn trial and undergoing a profession reassignment. And for each Profession, there were four First-Turn Profession pathways. The First-Turn Professions for the Assassin Profession were Dark Night Apostle, Phantom Hunter, Extremely Evil Madman, and Stealth Blade respectively.
