Chapter 131: Kaelen Arrival (2)
Vaelen’s heart trembled violently in his chest. The Dragonkin felt a cold, paralyzing terror grip his soul. He looked at Kaelia, who was smiling up at the monster, completely oblivious to the fact that she was a fraction of a second away from being atomized.
Vaelen had sworn absolute loyalty to the Vanguard. He had promised him sanctuary and peace. But looking at the tyrant holding his granddaughter’s life hostage, Vaelen knew he had no choice. He could not sacrifice the last remaining blood of his lineage for a promise.
"The... the bamboo estate," Vaelen choked out, his voice cracking, his shoulders slumping in absolute, devastating defeat. He slowly raised a trembling finger, pointing past the central square, toward the distant, secluded edge of the valley. "At the far end of the village. By the glowing mana-waterfall. That is where he stays."
Kaelen’s hollow smile widened into an expression of profound, predatory triumph.
He stood up, removing his hand from Kaelia’s head, and the crushing gravitational pressure instantly vanished.
"You see? Was that so difficult?" Kaelen mocked softly. He didn’t look back at the old man or the child. He simply stepped past them, his heavy boots marching with absolute, measured purpose toward the far end of the village. Silas and Sienna hurried to keep pace behind him, completely ignoring the terrified, weeping Elder who had just betrayed his savior.
At the far edge of the Azure Scale sanctuary, the tranquil roar of the blue mana-waterfall provided a soothing, constant rhythm to the bamboo estate.
Inside the main room, Snow Valestorm was humming a light, upbeat melody. She stood at the mahogany counter of the open-air kitchen, her white hair tied back in a messy bun, wearing her black leather shorts and crop top.
The intense sparring sessions had sharpened her reflexes to a razor’s edge, but right now, her focus was entirely domestic. She was rapidly chopping a massive array of fresh, vibrant vegetables and searing thick cuts of elite meat in a heavy iron skillet.
Leon was upstairs, and she fully intended to have a massive, protein-heavy feast waiting for him when he emerged.
She turned away from the counter to grab a jar of crystallized sap from the shelf.
Clack.
The sound of a heavy, armored boot stepping onto the polished bamboo floorboards immediately caused the hairs on the back of Snow’s neck to stand up.
It wasn’t Leon. Leon moved with a terrifying, frictionless silence that completely defied his massive stats. This footstep was heavy, deliberate, and dripping with arrogance.
Snow spun around, her hand dropping the jar of sap.
Standing in the entryway of the estate, having entirely bypassed the sliding bamboo doors without making a sound, was Kaelen Vance. The ambient temperature in the kitchen instantly spiked, the suffocating heat radiating from his crimson plate armor warring with the cool, fresh air of the waterfall outside.
Snow’s crystalline blue eyes widened in immediate recognition.
She knew exactly who this was. The deep-red armor, the arrogant posture, the massive halberd strapped to his back.
It was Kaelen Vance. The Guild Master of the Crimson Dawn. The tyrant of the Eastern Checkpoint.
And for a monster of his caliber to be standing inside her husband’s home, thousands of miles away from his established territory, absolutely nothing good was about to happen.
Snow didn’t hesitate. She didn’t ask questions, and she didn’t try to negotiate. Her Level 48 combat instincts, recently honed by Leon’s brutal training over the past days, took absolute control.
"Avalanche Cleave!" Snow roared.
She swiped her hand through the air, instantaneously summoning her Legendary-ranked silver buster sword from her spatial inventory. The massive, door-sized weapon materialized perfectly in her grip.
Without a microsecond of delay, she pushed off her back foot, utilizing her flawless kinetic chain to launch herself directly at the intruder. She swung the heavy blade in a devastating, horizontal arc aimed directly at Kaelen’s neck, intending to decapitate him before he could utter a single word.
Kaelen’s dark eyes flared with surprise, though not from the speed of the attack.
"The True Weapon Forger," Kaelen noted, immediately recognizing the massive silver cross-guard and the pristine white hair. "I recognize you. The formidable Snow Valestorm."
He didn’t draw his halberd. He didn’t even raise his hands to block the incoming Legendary weapon.
"Emperor’s Domain," Kaelen commanded.
The heavy, violently glowing ring of golden-red light erupted from Kaelen’s boots, expanding instantly to engulf the entire main room of the estate.
The physical laws within the bamboo house catastrophically shifted. The absolute, conceptual authority of the SS-Rank talent asserted its dominance over reality.
Snow hit the boundary of the domain mid-swing. The Level base strength scaling of her Legendary buster sword didn’t matter. Her elite technique didn’t matter. The Emperor’s Domain did not interact with physical armor; it suppressed the foundational attributes of the target’s soul.
It felt as though an entire mountain had just been dropped directly onto her shoulders.
Snow let out a sharp, agonizing cry as her forward momentum was violently arrested. Her arms buckled under the impossible, crushing gravity. The massive silver buster sword slipped from her fingers, crashing heavily into the bamboo floorboards and splintering the wood.
She was forced down, her knees slamming painfully into the floor, her hands bracing against the bamboo as she desperately fought against the absolute suppression. The gravity attempted to flatten her completely, to force her face into the dirt in a posture of total, humiliating submission.
"A spirited greeting, Valestorm," Kaelen sneered, walking slowly forward until the tips of his crimson boots were resting mere inches from her trembling hands. "But completely futile. You are a crafter. I am a king."
Snow gritted her teeth, her entire body shaking violently as she utilized every ounce of her Level 48 Strength to keep her head raised. She glared up at the tyrant, her blue eyes burning with absolute, unyielding hatred.
"You don’t belong here," Snow spat through clenched teeth, blood trickling from her lip where she had bitten it in defiance. "Get out of my house."
Kaelen chuckled, a dark, hollow sound that grated against the tranquil atmosphere of the estate. He reached down, grabbing a handful of her long, white hair, and violently jerked her head back, forcing her to look up at him.
"I am not here for you," Kaelen said, his voice dropping to a lethal, vibrating whisper. "I am here for the anomaly. The ghost who thinks he can break the rules of my world without consequence. Where is he?"
Snow’s jaw locked tight. The pain radiating from her scalp and the crushing weight of the domain were agonizing, but she refused to give him an inch. If he wanted to find Leon, he was going to have to tear the information out of her dead mind.
"Show him to me," Kaelen demanded, the golden-red light of the domain flaring brighter, the pressure increasing exponentially. "Or I will break every single bone in your body, heal you, and do it again until you comply."
Snow let out a muffled groan of agony as the gravity began to fracture the bamboo floorboards beneath her, but her lips remained sealed. She gritted her teeth, holding her silence like a shield.
Meanwhile, on the upper level of the estate, completely separated from the main living area, the air was thick with aromatic steam.
Leon Wes sat submerged in the deep, carved stone basin of the bathing chamber. The hot water, infused with the sharp, clean scent of pine and ozone, lapped gently against his broad chest. He was indulging in the pure, sensory relaxation of the heat.
His head was resting against the smooth stone edge of the tub, his icy blue and golden eyes closed in absolute tranquility. The ambient roar of the mana-waterfall outside perfectly masked the sounds of the village.
He was completely at peace.
Then, the fundamental fabric of reality in the house shifted.
It wasn’t a sound. It wasn’t a physical disturbance. It was a sudden, violent intrusion of hostile, conceptual mana.
The edge of Kaelen’s expanding Emperor’s Domain bled through the ceiling of the bathing chamber. It didn’t possess the strength to suppress Leon—his SSS+ Aura of the Undying and his Steadfast-tier existence instantly, passively repelled the foreign gravitational authority, treating it like a gentle breeze attempting to move a mountain.
But the mere presence of the hostile aura—the distinct, aggressive signature of an invader daring to assert dominance within the walls of his sanctuary, mere feet away from where his wife was cooking—registered in Leon’s tactical logic engine with catastrophic clarity.
The tranquil, relaxed posture of the husband instantly vanished.
In the steaming, silent bathing chamber, the Steadfast Player’s dual-colored eyes snapped open.
