Ten Lucky Draws: I Got Ten SSS-Rank Talents!
Chapter 130: Kaelen Arrival
At the southern entrance of the tranquil Dragonkin village, the air warped and bled, ripping open to reveal a jagged tear of starry, profound darkness. Stepping through the spatial anomaly was the massive, terrifying silhouette of the Void Horse, its hooves of cold fire leaving scorching imprints upon the smooth cobblestone path.
Sitting atop the nightmare beast was Kaelen Vance, the Guild Master of the Crimson Dawn. His highly customized, crimson plate armor radiated a suffocating, ambient heat that immediately caused the nearby bioluminescent flora to wilt and curl inward.
Flanking him on foot, stepping out of the spatial tear just before it snapped shut, were Silas and Sienna. The two subordinates looked haggard and exhausted, their eyes darting nervously around the beautiful, hidden valley that they had just breached.
The sudden arrival of the outsiders did not go unnoticed.
The Dragonkin villagers, who had spent the morning tending to their crops and milling about the market stalls, froze. They turned their reptilian eyes toward the towering destrier and the heavily armored humans. However, rather than fleeing in terror from the ominous display, a murmur of awe and respect rippled through the crowd.
Just days ago, a human player—the Vanguard of Humanity—had descended, shattered the ancient Void Mist, and saved their entire civilization from a slow, suffocating death. To the Azure Scale villagers, players were no longer strange anomalies; they were revered heroes, champions chosen by the heavens to bring salvation.
The crowd parted respectfully, bowing their heads as Kaelen guided the Void Horse slowly down the main thoroughfare.
From the central hall, Elder Vaelen emerged. The ancient Dragonkin leaned heavily on his carved wooden staff, his silk robes brushing against the cobblestones as he walked out to meet the new arrivals. He saw the crimson armor, the imposing weapons, and the distinct system-generated auras that marked them as ’Players.’
"Welcome, travelers from beyond the mist," Elder Vaelen called out, his deep, rumbling voice echoing across the quiet square. He stopped a respectful distance from the Void Horse and offered a deep, formal bow. "The Azure Scale village opens its arms to you. Please, dismount. The journey through the sector must have been perilous. I invite you to my home to break bread and rest your weary bodies."
Kaelen looked down at the old Dragonkin from the elevated height of his shadow-steed. His dark eyes were cold, sweeping over the Elder and the gathered villagers with an expression of absolute disgust. He did not see living beings with rich histories and souls. He saw lines of localized NPC code, mere set dressing generated by the system to populate a minor safe zone.
"I am not here to break bread with localized data," Kaelen stated, his voice laced with a chilling, metallic resonance that instantly dropped the temperature in the square. "And I have no interest in your mud huts, old man."
Elder Vaelen blinked, slowly rising from his bow. The warm, welcoming atmosphere of the village instantly evaporated, replaced by a sudden, heavy tension.
"I... see," Vaelen said carefully, his ancient eyes narrowing slightly. "Then how may the village assist you, Player?"
"You harbor an anomaly," Kaelen said smoothly, resting his leather-gloved hand on the haft of his massive crimson halberd. "A human player. He resides within the borders of this valley. You will tell me exactly where he is staying."
Vaelen’s grip tightened on his wooden staff. He had lived for centuries. He had survived the encroaching rot of the Void Mist, and he understood the nature of power. The Vanguard, Leon Wes, possessed an aura of overwhelming, absolute dominance, but it was a grounded, protective strength. The man sitting on the shadow-horse radiated something entirely different. He radiated malice, tyranny, and an unquenchable, obsessive cruelty.
"The Vanguard is an honored guest of our village," Vaelen replied, choosing his words with extreme caution, intentionally omitting Leon’s exact location. "But he is a private man. He values his solitude. If you wish to leave a message, I would be honored to deliver it to him on your behalf."
Kaelen’s jaw tightened. The utter disrespect of an NPC attempting to gatekeep him from his prey was infuriating.
"I am not a courier leaving a message," Kaelen said, forcing his voice to remain level, though the Emperor’s Domain began to passively bleed into the air, making the atmosphere feel thick and hard to breathe. He decided to employ a tactical lie to bypass the old reptile’s stubbornness.
"We are colleagues. We belong to the same guild organization, the Crimson Dawn. He has been separated from our ranks for weeks, and I have traversed the entire sector to find him. I simply wish to greet my old friend."
Vaelen stared up at the crimson-armored tyrant.
A lie, Vaelen realized instantly. Leon Wes had claimed to be entirely alone. He possessed the demeanor of a solitary king, not a subordinate in a guild. Furthermore, the suffocating, malicious intent rolling off Kaelen in invisible waves completely betrayed his polite words. This man was not here for a reunion. He was here for an execution.
"I apologize, Guild Master," Vaelen said softly, shaking his head. "But I cannot disturb his rest. When he chooses to walk among the village again, I will inform him of your arrival. Until then, you are welcome to wait in the square."
Kaelen’s eyes flared with genuine, unrestrained fury. He was about to activate the Imperial Decree and crush the old man’s skull into the cobblestones when a sudden blur of motion darted out from behind the Elder’s robes.
"More heroes!"
Little Kaelia, the Elder’s granddaughter, scrambled out into the open. Her large, brilliant golden eyes were wide with innocent wonder as she looked up at the massive Void Horse and the heavily armored humans. She hadn’t developed the survival instincts to recognize the terrifying, suffocating aura radiating from Kaelen. She only knew that the last heavily armored human who had visited their village had saved her life and cleared the sky.
"Kaelia, no! Stay back!" Vaelen gasped, his heart leaping into his throat as he reached out to grab her, but he was a fraction of a second too slow.
Kaelia ran right up to the Void Horse, staring up at Kaelen with absolute awe.
Kaelen looked down at the small Dragonkin child. The fury in his eyes suddenly vanished, replaced by a terrifying, hollow smile.
With a smooth, fluid motion, the Void Horse dissolved into black mist beneath him, retreating into his shadow. Kaelen landed perfectly on his feet, his crimson armor clanking against the stone. He crouched down, bringing himself to eye level with the little girl.
"Hello there, little one," Kaelen said, his voice entirely stripped of its previous malice, adopting a soft, deceptively sweet tone.
He reached out with his heavy, armored hand and gently patted the top of Kaelia’s scaled head. He acted cute, offering her a warm, reassuring smile.
But as his leather glove touched her head, Kaelen locked his dark eyes directly onto Elder Vaelen.
Kaelen projected a microscopic, hyper-concentrated sliver of his SS-Rank Emperor’s Domain directly downward. He didn’t apply it to the girl’s body, but to the cobblestones immediately beneath her small feet. The stone cracked silently under the immense, conceptual weight.
Vaelen saw the stone fracture. He felt the terrifying, absolute gravity hovering mere millimeters above his granddaughter’s fragile skull.
The message was not spoken aloud, but it was delivered with absolute, lethal clarity straight into Vaelen’s mind: Talk, or I crush her into a bloody paste here and now.
