TALENT STEALING MAGE
Chapter 15: Goated
Day 20th, 12th month of the Vermilion Calendar, year 2010
Almost a month after the awakening, Leon has spent his time training with Roger as best as possible. His mother asked Roger to teach him how to defend himself in real-life situations and also how to escape hard situations.
She was panicked about the fact that he would be an adventurer, and she wanted to make sure that he was in the best possible shape.
In that period as well, he did not see William. William’s mother wanted to ensure that her son, who was heir to the Belmont family, became strong enough, especially now that he had gained a purpose core.
He and Leon had now become somewhat of national treasures at this point, with the many nobles sending them gifts and more to reward them.
Leon had long gotten tired of the gifts and the attempts to buy his favor:
"Do you really think he is ready to become an adventurer?" Leon’s mother asked, worry in her eyes as she did. They stood in the courtyard where Leon was dressed in completely expensive mage gear, a black jacket that he picked himself after his mother forced him to wear something that can protect him. Roger had on casual clothes and his sword on his waist. They did not want to pull a lot of attention as they moved.
"I’m sure he will be fine, my lady. Your son is capable of handling himself now," he explained. "Also, when there is any trouble, I’ll be able to handle it. The town of Belmont knows the Belmont family. There is no way anyone will inconvenience your son, the young master," Roger explained. Aside from that, he was still an aspiring sword master, which meant he could take on nearly every danger in the town of Belmont.
While Roger and Lily spoke, Leon was busy, lost in thought.
’I still wonder why the entire town is named Belmont. It’s not a small town that can be claimed by one count family. It’s pretty massive, almost a city, and the entire town is named after our family. That’s pretty wild.’
"You better be safe, Leon. If you come home hurt, I’ll kill you," his mother threatened.
"I don’t think threatening me is the best way to go, Mum," Leon said.
"Don’t be smart with me. You may have a mind older than your age, but you are still five," she said.
"Tch, using my age against me, Mum. Tch, I’ll have to report you to my sisters. They are the only ones that can fight for me."
She rolled her eyes at him and then patted his head. She bent down and kissed him on his forehead.
"You better be careful, don’t do anything that you would normally do, and make sure you come back to me safe and sound." Her eyes held real concern that Leon could not push away. He stepped in and hugged her.
After she finally let go, he walked out of the compound with Roger while she watched:
"Are you sure you can take on monsters? You mummy’s boy?" Roger teased.
"Haha, I might love my mum, but I damn well don’t love no monsters," Leon said.
"Hey, you should not be using that language," Roger scolded.
"I can read ancient tomes and scrolls, and your issue is with language?"
"Tch, there is no winning with you, young master."
"Drop the young master, will you, Roger? We are outside. Call me Leon."
"Alright, Master Leon."
"Sigh."
They walked through the town. They drew a few eyes looking at them, but not for long. They simply felt his clothes looked expensive. Many people in Belmont knew that the count had two sons, but they had never come across them.
They arrived at the adventure guild near the center of town. A two-story building that gathered attention easily, being one of the pretty eye-catching ones. It had two statues upfront, each one at either side of the large door. They were statues of a dragon, roaring while its two front legs were raised.
"Now why are there statues in front of a guild?" Leon asked.
"Sigh, it’s a long story. The guild master is a bit of an eccentric man. He believes himself to be a dragon hunter because long ago he took down a wyvern.
Even then, he had fought it with his party, and so it was not fully his victory, but he took the head of the wyvern and claimed the victory as the one who landed the final blow.
He was the friend of your father’s father, Lord Ragna Belmont."
"Hmm, so where is my grandfather? I never got around to ask," Leon said.
"Your grandfather pretty much vanished after he handed the seat to your father. He said he had many things to handle. Well, that’s what I heard. I was barely grown even then."
"Tch, whatever," Leon said and kept walking. "Whatever it is he left for, I’m sure it must have been goated," he said casually.
"Goated? What does that mean?" Roger asked.
’Oh shit, used old slang.’
"Well, it means great, awesome," Silva said.
"Hmm, I don’t understand why you would use a word like goat and great together."
"Urghhhh, goat means greatest of all time, so when someone does something goated, it means something great," Leon explained.
"Young master, you are even creating your own words. That’s really crazy. I could say you are goated."
"No, no, don’t do that," Leon said.
Roger shrugged, confused, not understanding why, but he led the way and got to the door. He pushed it open, and they walked in, and instantly, all eyes were pinned on them.
