Chapter 82: 82:See how I ruin everything for you now

Mrs. Thomas was shocked, watching the scene with a slightly opened mouth. "My... daughter-in-law is so powerful," she murmured.

Nova folded her arms, glaring down coldly at Luke. The tension in the hall was suffocating, hanging over the crowd like a heavy, invisible blade. No one dared to breathe too loudly, utterly paralyzed by the dark, dominating aura of Nova.

"Mhm... see how your tall confidence collapse. Let me guess, you are being so arrogant because you thought you had the Halka family head, Kim, backing you up, isn’t it?" she questioned, her devilish smile widening.

"How... how do you know?" Luke’s body froze, staring at Nova as if he were seeing a ghost. "Who... who are you?" he questioned, looking terrified.

"Your doom," Nova replied coldly, and took a step forward, squatting down to his height. "Good news. Kim Halka is nothing but a fashion mannequin in his own house now. He’s still alive for now, but fortunately for you, he can’t even save himself, much less save you," she whispered to him, a dark, low laugh following.

Luke breathed heavily, his heart racing faster and dangerously. The air around him felt thin, completely choked out by Nova’s terrifying presence.

"You... you..." he stuttered, but before he could finish his statement, Nova grabbed him by his neck.

A soft, unnoticed black smoke poison was released by Nova, and it rushed straight into his body through the hand grabbing his neck.

The process was incredibly fast, and even Luke didn’t know he was now poisoned. The devilish smile on Nova’s lips spread.

"Yes... I bestowed him that fate, and congratulations to you, you are the next," she whispered to him, and stood up, looking down at Luke, who was now coughing repeatedly, his lungs already burning.

"Hubby, Uncle Luke’s body is so fragile. Being on the floor for so long, I’m afraid he won’t live long," Nova commented and walked closer to Raymond, her voice instantly returning to a calm and angelic tone. The freezing pressure in the hall instantly lifted, though the lingering dread remained etched on the guests’ faces. "I will leave him to you," she said to him and walked back to Mrs. Thomas.

Raymond smiled. "My wife is right. Take Uncle Luke to rest. I will personally send him back when the party is over," he ordered his men.

"Yes," the men replied and bowed. Two men stepped forward and grabbed Luke by both arms, dragging his shivering, coughing form out of the grand hall.

Nova gently held Mrs. Thomas’s hand. "Mum, don’t worry, you have me," she consoled.

Mrs. Thomas chuckled and nodded. "That’s true, I am blessed with such a good daughter-in-law," she thought, controlling the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes, then she turned to the silent crowd.

"I’m sorry everyone for the little interruption just now. Let the party continue," Mrs. Thomas said, and everyone quickly clapped, eager to break the heavy silence. Then she walked down the stage with Nova.

At a dark corner of the hall, a man brought out his phone, dialing someone’s number. The call connected immediately, as if the other person had been waiting for it.

"Boss, I think we might have received the wrong information about Cassian’s wife. I’m in the banquet now, but... she, she doesn’t look fragile," he said, staring nervously in Nova’s direction.

"What happened?" a thick voice echoed over the phone.

"I can’t describe what exactly happened, but just now, I can feel she’s not ordinary. Her aura just now was so strong that it shook me," the man replied, his voice trembling a little.

There was a long silence. "Seems like we will have to make another plan. Retreat immediately," the voice ordered.

"Yes," the man replied and ended the call. He cast one last terrified glance at Nova and left the hall secretly, not knowing his escape didn’t escape Nova’s sharp eyes.

The party continued, everyone cheering and having drinks while Nova and Delilah sat together, exchanging words. In the middle of their conversation, the atmosphere around their table suddenly shifted. The air grew tight and electric as Prince stepped toward them, interrupting them.

"May I have the honor to exchange a glass of wine with my goddess?" Prince calmly spoke, flashing Nova a gentle, magnetic smile.

Delilah’s brows knitted tightly, and she held Nova’s hand protectively immediately. "I believe you are aware that she’s married to my brother, and she’s my sister-in-law," she commented, not caring about Prince’s terrifying mafia status.

Prince glanced at Delilah, then his gaze fell on her hand locking tightly with Nova’s hand. His brows knitted tightly together and he gritted his teeth, but he forced a charming smile on his lips.

"You seem to be able to guess my intentions, but Nova is a free woman, she can’t just be tied to anyone," he replied.

Nova stared at Prince, her dark smile widening. "Today is my mother-in-law’s birthday celebration, don’t ruin my mood," she commented coldly.

A satisfied smile appeared on Delilah’s lips immediately, hugging Nova’s arm tightly. "My sister-in-law is the best," she thought.

Prince stared longer at Nova, the unspoken challenge hanging heavily in the air. He was about to speak when Cassian calmly tapped him on his shoulder from behind.

"You don’t have a chance. Instead of roaming around a married woman, why don’t you go to a bar or somewhere? You might find your true love there," he said.

His gaze fixed on Prince with an obvious, lethal threat. The invisible clash between the two powerful men made the air around the table feel dangerously close to combusting.

Prince snorted and shook off Cassian’s hand from his shoulder. He stared at him coldly, his smile completely vanishing.

"Be happy as long as you want for now, don’t cry later," he said.

A sudden, devilish smirk appeared on Cassian’s lips. "You are not still thinking you have a chance, do you?" He laughed softly and took a step closer to him. "See how I ruin everything for you now," he replied.

His smile widened as he walked up to Nova, gently holding her hand and sitting on the chair next to hers. Then he leaned closer to her and whispered something softly into her ear.

The temperature at the table instantly plummeted to absolute zero. The smile on Nova’s lips dropped completely. Her aura turned wildly murderous as she fixed a deadly, piercing gaze on Prince. The tension was no longer just heavy, it was razor-sharp and fatal.

Prince was stunned by Nova’s sudden deadly intent toward him. "What did this bastard say to her?" he thought, his expression turning genuinely worried.

"Prince," Nova called in a cold and distant voice. Her eyes didn’t soften even for a bit, it was as if she were ready to tear him apart right then and there.

"Yes," he replied.

"Why did you ask Lucian to invite my husband to your underground bar?" she questioned coldly, her gaze fierce and lacking any warmth.
