Chapter 81:Who borrowed you the confidence?
Chapter 81: 81:Who borrowed you the confidence?
"I don’t agree!"
Everyone’s attention turned toward the entrance and found a shabbily dressed man standing in the doorway. He stepped forward, standing in the middle of the hall, his gaze freezing cold as he stared directly at Mrs. Thomas.
"It’s just an ordinary birthday, must you spoil your daughter-in-law to this extent?" he asked, his voice thick with hatred.
"Where did this mad dog come from?" Cassian commented softly, his eyes narrowing as he stared at the man.
"Seems like someone will get beaten tonight," Alan said in a low voice.
Raymond smiled darkly, recognizing who the man was. "I haven’t even had the chance to come and trouble you, yet you already invited trouble on your own," he thought, standing up and walking down toward the man.
"It’s one thing that you came uninvited here, Uncle Luke, but you started spouting out nonsense. If my mother didn’t spoil my wife, is it your daughter that she will spoil? Or you?" he questioned coldly.
A warm, radiant smile spread on Nova’s lips, looking extremely proud. "That’s my man," she thought, her glowing gaze not leaving Raymond for a single second.
"Uncle Luke, you should leave here. Don’t embarrass yourself, and don’t ruin my mum’s day," Delilah commented, her face looking completely displeased.
Luke glared back and forth between Delilah and Raymond. "You two have gotten bold, haven’t you?" he commented in a rage. He fixed his bloodshot gaze entirely on Raymond.
"And you—hear what you are saying! You married a random woman. It’s one thing that no one was informed of your marriage in our family as large as it is, but you actually let your woman eye your mother’s property! Do you know what this means? It means you are rebelling!" he shouted, shivering violently from pure anger.
Raymond laughed, a harsh, humorless sound. "Rebelling? Then if the properties were given to you, you would have no complaint, right?" he asked.
"Naturally! Something like this should be handled by elders! You are still little no matter how grown up you are, you shouldn’t be too greedy," Luke replied, puffing out his chest.
"On top of something that’s not at all related to you," Delilah snorted. "Uncle Luke, you really have a thick skin," she added, her voice dropping into an immediate chill.
Raymond smiled smoothly. "Uncle Luke, I see you are here for trouble. First, my wife isn’t a random woman, and second, even eighty percent of these properties is very little compared to what my wife owns alone, so she’s not eyeing anything. Her being willing to accept it is my honor! And as for rebelling... it’s obvious who’s rebelling here," he said coldly.
Nova chuckled softly, feeling extremely proud up on the stage. "Now that you say so, I just realized how rich I am. But... my husband is so cool," she thought.
Luke pointed a shivering, crooked finger at Raymond. "You... you..." He turned to the silent Mrs. Thomas. "Will you just keep mute there?" he questioned aggressively.
Mrs. Thomas’s face paled. "Why... why did you have to come here?" she asked, her voice trembling. "You could have been safe at least if you didn’t come here," she replied.
"What nonsense are you speaking, huh?! Your son and daughter are turning against me here, and you are saying something like that?!" Luke roared. "You don’t really plan on giving it to her, right? You just want to save face, right?" he asked.
Mrs. Thomas’s eyes teared up as she remained completely silent. "It’s true that if you keep accepting people’s wrong attitudes as they come, they will take you for a fool," she thought, her shoulders shaking. "My family and I almost got killed by him, and here he is, without any sign of guilt on his face," she thought.
Mr. Thomas, seeing Mrs. Thomas breaking down, immediately stepped forward. "Get out of here!" he shouted at Luke.
"Drag me if I don’t! Come on! Drag me!" Luke roared, staring right into Mr. Thomas’s eyes. "I should be the one telling you to get out of here!" he added, laughing mockingly.
Nova hissed. Her sharp hiss echoed powerfully all over the quiet hall, revealing just how deeply irritated she was. She popped the pen cap open with a sharp click and signed all the documents in rapid, flawless strokes, then she placed the pen back on the golden tray.
"I’ve signed them all. They are all mine now," Nova said, staring down at Luke as she stepped off the stage. "Get angry and hit me," she added, a provocative, deadly smile spreading on her lips.
"You...! This is insane! This is crazy! Disaster!" Luke shouted, taking a fearful step back as Nova approached. He was so utterly terrified by her aura alone that all the bold words in his stomach completely disappeared.
"Why... why am I so scared of her?" he wondered, his legs shaking violently against the tiled floor.
"Why are you just shouting disaster ’Insane’ and crazy? I thought you would be angry and hit me, don’t just keep shouting, take action" Nova commented, taking several slow, deliberate steps forward. But Luke immediately took several panicked steps back as well.
"An ordinary daughter-in-law who married into the family... it seems like being favored by your mother-in-law makes you think you are a god now, isn’t that right?" Luke said, laughing coldly. He seemed to have thought of something that returned his strength and made him fearless once more.
"You are being too confident. Considering the fact that you are young and just being greedy for a moment, I will let this slide. You should transfer back the properties to me right now," he said aloud, puffing his chest and looking proud.
Nova was silent, staring at him as if looking at a disgusting ant. "I’m more curious about where you got your confidence from. Who borrowed you the confidence you have now?" she replied smoothly.
Luke laughed loudly. "What? Scared already, huh? It’s useless to be scared now!" he shouted.
Nova rolled her eyes, her expression utterly bored. "I’m asking who borrowed you the confidence you have now. How does that mean I’m scared? They are nowhere related together," she said calmly.
Luke snorted, stepping right up to her. "Transfer all the properties to me now, or else—" He pointed a finger directly at Nova’s face.
"Or else what?" Cassian’s bone-chilling voice echoed through the hall as he stood up, walking down toward Nova. Standing right beside her, he glared murderously down at Luke.
Luke was completely stunned, stumbling backward and almost losing his balance. "When did the Thomas family build a connection with the Mafia Don Cassian?!" he thought in panic.
"Let me complete it for him," Alan commented, strolling casually over to Nova’s other side. "Or else he will send some men to start threatening Snow," he said, his eyes glittering behind his sinister mask.
Luke was even more shocked, staring at the masked Alan. "The... the top hacker boss...!" he stuttered under his breath, his brain short-circuiting.
"Well, he will have to give it a shot first. Let’s see who will die first," Prince’s icy, smooth voice echoed as he walked closer as well, towering beside them and glaring murderously down at Luke.
The air in the grand hall instantly dropped to sub-zero temperatures. Four towering powerhouses—a ruthlessly handsome mafia don, a legendary lethal hacker, a menacing mafia don prince, and the terrifying undercover officer—stood locked in a tight crescent around Nova. The combined weight of their crushing, murderous aura crashed down on Luke like a tidal wave of death.
Luke’s face turned deathly pale in a fraction of a second. His knees gave out entirely, shivering so violently that he lost his balance and collapsed heavily onto the tiled floor.
"Prince... why is he here too?!" he thought, cold, panicked sweat immediately pouring down his pale face as he looked up at the terrifying wall of men surrounding the dark queen.
