Chapter 125: 125:I do not joke when it comes to my men

Back at the sprawling mansion, Nova flicked off the television, entirely bored by the broadcast. With a subtle thought, her laptop materialized on the glass table in front of her. She set down her half-finished chicken, and with a lazy gesture of her hand, a pristine napkin glided smoothly across the table and into her grasp.

She wiped her fingers clean, then casually tossed the soiled tissue into the air, where it dissolved into absolute nothingness before ever hitting the floor.

Opening her laptop, a gentle, affectionate smile touched her lips. "Let’s see what my husband is up to," she murmured, her fingers flying across the keyboard with blinding speed.

Instantly, the screen flickered to life, displaying a crystal-clear security feed of Cassian’s private office.

Nova’s affectionate smile vanished instantly. Her brows knitted into a sharp, deadly crease as she analyzed the footage. The silver-eyed woman cornering her husband, the unnatural glow, the visible strain on Cassian’s face—it was unmistakable.

The air in the living room rippled, and Anah materialized behind Nova, her mismatched eyes locked onto the screen.

"This girl is tampering with his memories," Anah noted, her voice devoid of emotion.

"She is dead already." Nova gritted her teeth, her voice dropping into a lethal, venomous tone. Her piercing blue eyes flashed with pure, unadulterated murderous intent. In the blink of an eye, both Nova and Anah vanished into thin air.

Inside the executive suite, Cassian violently shoved Naomi backward. The sheer, desperate force of his push sent her staggering across the floor, nearly causing her to lose her balance and fall.

"You should know what’s good for you and stop whatever the hell you are doing to me right now!" Cassian snarled, his chest heaving as he fought for breath. He clutched his temples, battling the agonizing, mind-shredding headache threatening to tear his consciousness apart. "If I survive this... I will personally hunt you down!" ℯℯ𝘭.

Naomi’s face had a flicker of genuine shock before settling back into a mask of cold panic.

"He isn’t falling for the temptation," she realized with mounting dread. "His willpower is monstrous. If he dies from the psychological strain of fighting back, Nova will definitely kill me. I need to stop this immediately."

She opened her mouth to undo the spell, but before she could utter a single syllable, the ambient temperature in the sprawling office violently plummeted.

The air turned instantly to freezing vapor. Jagged, lethal veins of frost spiderwebbed across the reinforced glass windows and crept up the mahogany walls, encasing the room in a murderous, unnatural winter.

"Don’t tell me... she’s already here," Naomi thought, absolute terror seizing her heart.

She frantically tried to dissolve her magic and vanish, but a localized distortion rippled the air directly in front of her. Anah materialized out of the ether, her hand shooting forward with blinding speed. Her slender fingers clamped around Naomi’s throat like a vice of solid iron, effortlessly lifting the silver-eyed woman entirely off the floor.

"Cassian, are you okay?" Nova’s voice, suddenly soft and laced with worry, echoed from the other side of the room. She had appeared right beside Cassian.

Placing a gentle hand against his temple, Nova channeled a soothing wave of blue energy directly into his mind, instantly shattering the invasive psychic spell and erasing the agonizing pain.

Cassian let out a ragged sigh of profound relief, the pale color slowly returning to his face. Seeing Nova standing there, holding him, anchored him back to reality. "Darling... you’re here," he breathed, standing tall and immediately pulling back to inspect her. "Are you hurt?"

Nova shook her head gently. She shot a quick glance toward Venom, who was still standing completely frozen under Naomi’s command. With a casual snap of her fingers, the mind-control spell shattered like brittle glass, and he instantly collapsed unconscious onto the floor.

"I will kill her myself," Nova declared, her voice losing all its warmth as she turned her chilling gaze toward Naomi, who was currently kicking and clawing desperately at Anah’s unbreakable grip.

Without a second thought, Anah tossed Naomi across the room. She threw the powerful psychic as easily as one might discard a crumpled piece of paper.

Nova stepped forward and intercepted her mid-air. Her hand locked onto Naomi’s throat, and with a terrifying burst of kinetic force, Nova slammed her entire body against the heavy, reinforced oak doors of the executive suite.

The impact was catastrophic. The thick wood splintered and exploded outward under the sheer force of the blow. Naomi was launched completely through the shattered doorway and sent hurtling over the interior Upper-floor railing of the executive floor.

She plummeted through the open air of the corporate atrium, crashing brutally onto the marble floor of the lower lobby.

The entire floor erupted into chaos. Employees leaped from their desks, papers flying as they stared in absolute shock at the woman groaning on the cracked marble. Blood pooled beneath Naomi’s head, and she coughed up a violent mouthful of crimson, her body trembling from several shattered bones.

"What is going on?!"

"Who is she?"

"Did she just get thrown out of the CEO’s office? From the top floor?!"

"Someone call an ambulance, she looks like she’s dying!"

The panicked whispers of the corporate staff filled the massive atrium. The elegant female administrator from earlier pushed through the crowd, but upon seeing Naomi’s horrific state, she clapped both hands over her mouth to stifle a scream.

"What... what happened to her?" the administrator thought, paralyzed by a potent mix of fear and self-preservation. She didn’t dare step forward to help. She only prayed to remain entirely invisible to whatever monster caused the chaos.

On the floor, Naomi choked on her own blood. Clenching her teeth, she forced her broken body upward, her right hand gripping her bleeding left arm. She shakily tilted her head up toward the shattered balcony.

From the high precipice, Nova simply stepped off the ledge.

She plummeted dozens of feet through the air with terrifying, predatory grace. The landing was utterly flawless, her heels touching the marble floor without a single sound, the sheer impact of her descent effortlessly absorbed.

Nova straightened up, towering over the broken woman. Her face was a canvas of absolute, frigid wrath. There was not a single trace of mercy in her glowing blue eyes.

Naomi took a pathetic, dragging step backward in sheer terror. Two drops of tears slipped from her silver eyes, mixing with the blood on her cheeks and vanished midair before it hits the floor. "I... I didn’t mean any true harm, Nova," she choked out, her voice a desperate, ragged sob. "I didn’t intend to kill him... Please, you have to understand my position—"

Nova stood perfectly still, her gaze fixed on the bleeding woman with fathomless hatred.

Suddenly, a translucent blue interface materialized in the air directly in front of her.

[Target Information Report]

Name: Naomi

Age: four hundred Years Old

Origin: Extraterrestrial

Identity: A mermaid folk originating from a distant, aquatic planet.

Background: She traveled to this planet alongside others of her kind out of curiosity regarding humanity. Unfortunately, she was captured by a human named Rolland. She managed to escape his clutches, only to be rescued by a man named Trison, who deceived her into becoming his lover. Trison manipulated her to provide him with endless wealth, going so far as to coerce her into surrendering her Mermaid essence to grant him an extended lifespan.

Current Status: After securing the pearl, Trison betrayed her, revealing his ruthless nature. He kept her imprisoned, treating her solely as a tool for his ambitions. Trison is the mastermind who deployed her to cause a misunderstanding between you and Cassian, and to seduce Alan.

System Note: The system detects that Naomi was deeply unwilling to execute this plan, fully aware of the lethal risks involved. She only agreed to the suicidal task because Trison promised to return her to her home planet upon completion.

"Interesting." Anah materialized silently beside Nova, crossing her arms as she quickly read over the floating blue text, her mismatched eyes drifting down to the bleeding, pleading Naomi.

Nova’s hands slowly curled into tight, white-knuckled fists.

"Naomi, huh?" Nova murmured, her voice a soft, terrifying promise of death. "There is no need to worry about going back to your planet. I will send you straight to hell myself. This could have been a very different story if you hadn’t laid a single finger on my man. You could have met a far easier end if you had simply stayed away from him."

The ambient light in the lobby seemed to dim as Nova’s blue eyes darkened with suffocating, murderous intent.

"But you actually hurt him. You tried to violate his mind," Nova snarled, closing the final distance between them. "I will joke with absolutely everything else in this world... but I do not joke when it comes to my men."
