Chapter 126: 126:little alien down there

Nova blurred forward, appearing directly in front of Naomi before she could even notice her movement.

SLAP!

A brutal, thunderous backhand echoed across the lobby like a gunshot, blasting Naomi off her feet and sending her body skidding across the floor. The horrific force of the blow left the surrounding corporate staff frozen in absolute shock.

Naomi crashed against a pillar, vomiting another dark pool of blood. Desperate to survive, she forced her remaining mana outward, forming a faint, shimmering protective barrier around her trembling body.

"I’m... I’m sorry..." she choked out, her voice cracking as unshed tears pooled in her silver eyes, blurring her vision.

Nova didn’t utter a single word. Her expression was pure ice as she pulled back her right arm, her fist dense with crackling, kinetic force, and threw a violent punch directly into the barrier.

CRACK!

A spiderweb of fracture lines instantly rippled across the defensive wall. Without pausing, Nova delivered a second strike. The barrier shattered into countless sparkling fragments.

Panic seized Naomi. She scrambled backward on her hands and knees, her lips frantically whispering a high-speed incantation. Seeing her attempt to cast another spell, Nova leaped into the air, her fist raised to crush Naomi’s skull once and for all.

But just as her punch was about to connect, a sudden pulse of blinding light shot from Naomi’s core. In a fraction of a second, she vanished into thin air. Nova’s fist struck empty space, sending a devastating shockwave blasting through the lobby floor.

Nova landed gracefully, her piercing blue eyes scanning the residual mana lingering in the air. "You’ve got some slippery tricks," she murmured darkly.

She was ready to give chase, but the heavy chime of the executive elevator broke the stunned silence. The doors slid open, and Cassian rushed out, instantly closing the distance between them and wrapping his arms securely around her waist, pulling her back against his chest.

Nova’s suffocating aura relaxed immediately under his familiar embrace. She blinked twice, her bloodlust receding as her gaze swept across the lobby. Dozens of employees stood pale and trembling, staring at her with terror in their eyes.

"Don’t be angry anymore, darling. I will deal with it, alright?" Cassian whispered softly into her ear.

He had rarely seen Nova lose her temper with such raw, lethal violence. Yet beneath his calm exterior, his heart pounded with a dark, thrilling excitement. Seeing how possessively she fought to protect him filled him with an overwhelming sense of pride.

Nova took a deep, steadying breath, exhaling the lingering rage before gently pulling away from Cassian’s hold. "I’m not angry anymore," she said quietly.

Then, her gaze cut across the room like an executioner’s blade.

"Someone as obviously suspicious as her walked right through the front doors, and you allowed her inside?" Nova questioned coldly, her tone ringing through the vast lobby. "Who escorted her to my husband’s private office? Who?"

The employees exchanged frantic, terrified glances, silently looking among themselves to find the culprit.

Amid the panicked crowd, the senior administrator shivered violently, attempting to take a subtle, silent step backward into the shadows. But Nova’s sharp eyes caught her instantly.

"You! Stop right there."

The woman froze as if struck by lightning. Her knees instantly buckled, and she collapsed onto the hard floor, sobbing uncontrollably. "I’m sorry! Please, spare me! I thought she was the Young Madam... I didn’t know she was an intruder!"

"You didn’t know? Did you bother to confirm her identity?" Nova demanded, her voice dropping into an icy register. "Have the staff in this company grown so comfortable that you can assign my title to any pretty face that walks through the door?"

"Please... please spare me!" the woman wept, bowing her head to the floor. "I just didn’t want to offend the Young Madam! I’ve never done anything like this before!"

Nova stared down at her, her expression unreadable.

"Let her be," Anah commented casually, floating down beside the kneeling woman and inspecting her with detached interest. "She was merely trying to protect her job. She means no real harm."

Nova took another slow breath. "You are lucky today," she murmured to the administrator.

She turned back to Cassian, her cold demeanor instantly vanishing, replaced by genuine worry as she reached up to touch his face. "How are you feeling now? Do you feel any discomfort anywhere?"

Cassian leaned into her palm, pressing a soft kiss against her skin. Without warning, he hooked his arm under her waist and lifted her effortlessly into his arms. "I’m completely fine. But darling... you were so cool just now," he said with a quiet chuckle.

Nova met his gaze. "Aren’t you going to ask me anything?"

"About her?" Cassian flicked his eyes toward Anah, who was hovering nearby with her arms folded, before looking back at Nova. "Or about how magnificently possessive you were over me just now, mhm?"

Nova opened her mouth to reply, but Cassian cut her off with a smirk.

"It doesn’t matter. I only want you... and I love how rough you can get."

Nova rolled her eyes playfully. "Put me down. I can walk."

Ignoring her request, Cassian carried her straight back into the elevator, heading back up to the top floor.

Stepping back into the executive suite, they passed the splintered, ruined remains of the heavy double doors. Cassian gently set Nova down on the leather sofa, leaning in to press a lingering kiss onto her forehead. "I’ll handle the rest of the fallout. Don’t stress yourself out, okay?"

Nova offered a subtle smirk. Though she didn’t speak, her blue eyes shone with an absolute, lethal determination. She had no intention of letting Naomi escape alive.

Meanwhile, Anah walked over to Cassian’s grand executive desk, taking his leather chair and crossing her legs comfortably. A sudden, sharp crackle of blue energy flared like lightning around her body as she leaned back, casually admiring her long, dark red nails.

"You can’t handle a creature like her. You should stay out of this, Cassian," Anah stated, her tone laced with casual authority.

Cassian’s brows knit together in immediate displeasure as he glared at Anah.

Noticing his hostile stare, Anah smirked, her mismatched crimson and blue eyes flashing. "Unless you have a desire to die young? If that girl had intended to kill you rather than manipulate you, you would already be a corpse."

With a subtle flick of Anah’s finger, one of the desk drawers clicked open. The blue protective box Nova had gifted Cassian floated out into the air, dancing gently above the desk.

"Why in the world is this sitting in a drawer?" Anah demanded, her voice carrying a edge of genuine annoyance. "It cannot activate unless it is on your person! In your pocket, around your wrist—anywhere on your body! This entire mind-control situation would have been neutralized automatically if you had actually been carrying it."

Nova shot a warning glance toward Anah. "Watch how you speak to my husband."

Anah chuckled softly. "Well, perhaps you should remind your husband that humans aren’t the only apex predators walking this world. For a prominent mafia don, he is absurdly careless with his own life. It’s no wonder Trison managed to trick him and survive back then. He is simply... tsk, never mind."

Cassian froze, his irritation instantly dissolving into sharp shock and suspicion. "How do you know about Trison?"

"Isn’t he the one hunting you?" Anah replied coolly. "Don’t ask me how I know. You are Nova’s husband, so naturally, I have access to your life records."

Anah then paused, her gaze shifting away from Cassian toward the far corner of the ruined room, where Venom lay motionless on the carpet.

"And as for you, little alien down there," Anah drawled, her voice sharp and knowing. "Stop pretending to be unconscious and get up already."
