Chapter 336: Chapter 213: Chance Encounter (Part 2)
"..."
Su Xing was a little stunned. He couldn’t quite figure out why the Old Hall Master had sent that memory fragment into his mind. The memory was incredibly fragmented; Su Xing couldn’t even identify to whom it belonged.
To say nothing of,
understanding what had happened within it.
The only thing Su Xing knew was that the memory seemed to be related to Lu Anning, because in it, he saw a girl who looked exactly like her. It was just...
She wasn’t wearing modern clothes, and she appeared older and more mature than Lu Anning.
"..."
Su Xing fell silent. The memory sparked countless speculations. Most importantly, why had the Old Hall Master given it to him? And what did it have to do with him?
And...
Why was the memory so fragmented?
It was so broken that Su Xing could barely understand what had happened.
Then there was...
Who exactly was the Old Hall Master?
’He’s the Martial God, but who is he besides that? What does he really want? Just how strong is he?’
Su Xing suddenly felt the world was filled with questions. With his current strength, it was impossible for him to figure any of it out. If the Old Hall Master had intended to kill him, that single blast of Sword Qi would have been enough to end his life.
After all,
that Sword Qi had been aimed at his head.
It was fast—unbelievably so. With his current strength, Su Xing had only been able to see a blurry afterimage. It was hard to imagine just how powerful the Old Hall Master truly was.
"..."
The faint pride Su Xing felt from his ever-increasing strength now subsided. In this complex Extraordinary World, his power really amounted to nothing.
There was always someone better, a heaven beyond the heavens. This principle was universal. If he wanted things to go his way, the only option was to keep getting stronger.
Otherwise,
if he encountered a powerful enemy who, unlike the Old Hall Master, bore him no goodwill, he would likely die an unremarkable death. That was a fate he never wanted to see.
’I have to get stronger.’
With this resolve, Su Xing tidied up the Sword Hall, sweeping away the dust that had accumulated from being closed for so long.
Then he sat down on a chair and quietly uttered,
"System, upgrade me!"
...
Time flew by.
In the blink of an eye, three days had passed. These days, each of Su Xing’s breakthroughs took a great deal of time.
It couldn’t be helped.
This was the price of increasing one’s strength.
This time, Su Xing didn’t continue raising his realm. Instead, following his previous upgrade strategy, he raised all the Tier Five sword techniques he had just obtained from Lu Anning to Tier Six.
Perhaps because Lu Anning’s Sword Dao was already so established,
even though the three sword techniques—"Flick," "Cleave," and "Sword Control"—had broken through a major realm, their names hadn’t changed.
Of course, their power was on a completely different level. Most importantly, Su Xing could clearly feel that his physical body had grown stronger by a fraction.
But that fraction shouldn’t be underestimated.
Given the current strength of his body, even the slightest improvement was incredibly difficult to achieve, making it a monumental gain.
If Su Xing were to unleash his full power, the white light his body naturally emitted would be dozens of times stronger than before. While still inferior to that clan elder from the Spirit Realm, it wasn’t far off.
At the very least, it meant that,
even without the enhancement of his "Sword Shatter" state, Su Xing’s physical body possessed the combat power of a Tier Seven. And with it, his strength would be even greater.
Clearly,
Su Xing’s strength had taken another leap forward.
Now that he had raised all his sword techniques to Tier Six, the next upgrade cycle would likely take him to the true Tier Seven. When that happened, even a Tier Eight Powerhouse might no longer seem so difficult to handle.
"Hooo..."
At this thought, the pressure he felt from those stronger than him eased considerably. However, a sense of awe remained deep in his heart—an awe that would continuously spur him on, pushing him to climb ever higher.
’Time to go to New Luocheng.’
Su Xing murmured.
According to his original plan, Su Xing was supposed to visit the library of the special organization, but the key Li Longxuan had given him was for the branch in Modu.
According to Elder Li, the Modu organization’s collection of ancient books was the most complete, a decision made by headquarters. Thus, Su Xing had to shelve his plan to research ways of fusing martial arts.
Besides, his breakthrough had already taken three days. He had made a promise to Li Longxuan, and he couldn’t afford to delay any longer. Therefore, Su Xing decided to visit the Cyan Cloud Sect first.
It was almost funny to think about. The last time he’d left Cang City was after his university graduation. Now, a year had flashed by, and his status, perspective, and strength were worlds apart from what they had been.
It was hard to say,
if it was an arrangement of fate.
Having made up his mind, Su Xing wasted no more time. He immediately booked a plane ticket on his phone, left the Sword Hall, and hailed a ride-share to the airport.
The ride-share was a black sedan.
Black was the most common color, so Su Xing didn’t give it a second glance. What he didn’t expect, however, was that when he got in, the driver would speak to him in surprise:
"It’s you!"
"You’re Su Xing, right?"
"Hm?"
Su Xing froze for a moment. He studied the driver, looking him over carefully, but couldn’t place the man’s face. Finally, he said with some resignation,
"You are...?"
"Hey, you don’t recognize me?" the driver said, his voice full of gratitude.
"I picked up your ride request back then, to take you to the next city over. I remember there was a girl with you. A fight suddenly broke out while we were on the national highway. If you hadn’t stepped in, I probably wouldn’t have made it out alive."
’The national highway?’
Su Xing remembered every battle vividly.
Therefore,
he immediately recalled it.
That was the fight on the national highway with the Spiritual Sect’s High Priest of Wrath.
Once the memory clicked,
the driver’s face became more and more familiar.
"How did you know it was me?" Su Xing asked, a little curious.
Since becoming an Extraordinary Being,
he hadn’t saved that many people directly, but by killing so many other Extraordinary Beings, he had indirectly saved countless more. Yet, this was the first person to ever thank him for it. It gave Su Xing an indescribable feeling.
The driver scratched his head and said,
"I witnessed the whole thing. Afterwards, your younger brother found me and asked me not to say anything about what you did. As part of the deal, I asked for your name."
"I see," Su Xing said with a smile.
He hadn’t expected that. At the time, Su Yu hadn’t given him the full details, only saying that he had taken care of it for him.
Seeing his savior seemed to make the driver a little emotional. He rubbed his hands together, then grabbed the seat back with one hand and looked over his shoulder, saying hurriedly,
"Uh... can I get your phone number? I see your destination is Cang City Airport, so you must be leaving town. If you’re ever back, I’d like to treat you to a meal next time."
"Sure."
Su Xing gave a gentle nod.
He didn’t refuse the driver. Su Xing knew a meal together would be nearly impossible—he simply had too much going on these days—but he didn’t want to spoil the man’s gesture of gratitude.
So, they exchanged contact information.
"Great, great, great."
The driver’s excitement was clear as he repeated the word three times. He then slammed on the accelerator, shooting the car forward, determined to get Su Xing to the airport at top speed and not waste a single second of his savior’s time.
